TheGodDamnMaster
I have both consoles too, but I can only bring one to my new dorm. On the one hand, all of my friends are on 360 and I generally enjoy multiplayer more on XBL. On the other hand, the PS3 version will be on one disc and probably run smoother overall. So you can still play with your PS3 and your daugther can still play with 360, win-win situation if you ask me. Ibrahimhassounah
With past titles, 360 had the edge due to being the lead development console, and the game was essentially ported to PS3, which is why those games looked better on 360. 360 isn't the lead console this time, and for what it's worth, all press demos have been on PS3 while in the past they were on 360. I don't expect 360 to be worse than PS3 with GTAV, so it basically comes down to which room you'd rather play it in, as perfromance will be the same. 360 may require more than 1 disk, at least to install the game, but I doubt it'll require disk swapping while playing. the 360 wasn't the lead for Red Dead Redemption, PS3 did and the 360 version looked slightly better , RAGE engine is more helpful for the 360 but i don't think that will continue for the X1

You know, that game where Rockstar put a lot of work into RAGE to make it NOT a sh*tty engine on the PS3 and PC, nope, that never happened, RAGE is still the 360 loving engine it always was. reform
Its best for all the Xboxers to get used to the PlayStation controller now, so they can be at least mildly proficient by the time they get their PS4. Haha true. Did you see the game spot poll? It was something like 88% in favour for the PS4 Haven't seen that yet - that's pretty damn sad, lol. I was expecting around 70/30 at max, not 88/12, lol. I kinda feel bad for the hardcore Xbox fanboys, though. Granted, I can't see why they became Xbox fans in the first place, but nonetheless I'd hate for this to happen to the PlayStation since I love those consoles. I know right, I never thought it would be that extreme! Oh well, it will be better verity of player online. Lol, I felt a bit sorry for them as well. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=557260 Maybe not as extreme, but still pretty extreme! Official General
There was nothing wrong with the PS3 version of GTA IV and RDR, they were more or less identical to the 360 versions, I saw both versions of these games. Don't listen to all those bullsh*t lies. FFS dude... http://www.computerandvideogames.com/24730...splay-analysis/ http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalf...mption-face-off http://www.lensoftruth.com/head2head-red-dead-redemption/ Just because you say it looks identical, doesn't make it true. There are differences, and the Ps3 version does run at a lower resolution. If I say that the Ps3 BF3 looks better than the PC BF3, does that make it true? No disrespect, but you aint gonna make me change my mind. I've seen both versions and that is my final verdict. In fact, I even personally prefer the look of the PS3 versions of GTA IV and RDR, even if you told me the 360 versions were 5080p and it were true. Both games are kinda old now, no point in getting worked up over games that have long been released years ago. So just give it rest and respect my right to a personal opinion, even if you don't agree with it. I'm not trying to change your mind. If you think one version looks better than the other, that's all you. I was just addressing your thinking that the lower resolution is "lies", not your opinion on which looks better. Well I still don't believe the PS3 versions of GTA IV and RDR are less than 720p. If Rockstar had officially confirmed this, I'd believe it, but they did not. I go by concrete evidence from the people who made the game themselves. I'm not saying that it's definitely not true, but I am inclined not believe it either, because in my eyes there is not strong enough evidence. If it's not coming from Rockstar, then it's not enough for me to believe it. I'm not just gonna take the word of other so-called pixel experts I have never heard of that did not make the game themselves. No bias or preference, that is just not my way of accepting or believing claims. If the same had been said about the 360 being less than 720p I would not believe it until Rockstar themselves said so. If the PS3 game box actually said anything less than 720p, then fine you win, but it does not say that. Visually, I could not see much difference between the two versions, not saying that is proof, but it would indicate something for either side of the argument. Call me ignorant, call me stupid or whatever, but that is standard I go by, and it will not change. What I meant by "lies" were the untrue claims that the PS3 version of GTA IV and RDR looked bad or much worse than the 360 versions. That is definitely bullsh*t, pixel counting aside. I've seen both versions of these games, and that is not true at all. Ask Miamivicecity, he recently played RDR on the PS3 and actually realized how great it looked, he even stated in some areas that it looked better than the 360 version. Anyway, that is my piece said and done. These games are kinda old now, there is no point in debating over them. Apex
I own both consoles but I'll be getting the 360 version. 1. Much better online community, fewer little kids, better servers, (less lag and connection issues). You get what you pay for. 2: Mics. Most PS3 users have sh*tty Bluetooth mics which sound TERRIBLE and I have to mute everyone who doesn't have a proper headset. 3: Possible DLC exclusives. 4: Better sound, this is especially notable in GTA IV and CoD games, sounds are muffled and probably have a lower frequency than 360 and PC. 5: (Possibly) better framerate considering IV and Red Dead had a lot more FPS drops on the PS3. Max Payne was better but it wasn't an open world game and a lot of bigger explosions and such were scripted. 6: Most of my friends play 360. Those are some of my reasons, but who knows somewhere down the line I might get it for the PS3 too, I typically buy games I really like on multiple systems, AND of course I'll get the PC version too

I didn't say that , what i meant that the RAGE engine is more focused on the 360 , remember the first game that used the engine was released exclusively for the 360 (Table Tennis), and Max Payne 3 looked the same on the two consoles , there were no difference between the PS3 and the 360 and for now we didn't see the 360 version of GTA V Edited May 27, 2013 by Ibrahimhassounah
Ubermacht
I own IV on 360 and EFLC on PS3, and can definitely say that the game play is a lot smoother on the Xbox, either that or EFLC had inferior performance. However, the fact all demo's for GTA V have been shown on the PS3 leads me to believe that this time, the PS3 could have better performance. There's also the possibility that the Xbox version will have 2 discs, and the fact most my friends play on PS3. Hence why I'm getting V on PS3. meson1
so, this is a genuine question, I'm not looking for this to descend into some pointless fanboy'ism debate... I'm fortunate enough to have both a 360 and a PS3 (along with a reasonable PC) - for GTA5 I have a slight quandary on which version I should choose to get it on, the reason for this is.. My 360 is currently in the living room, used by my daughter to jump around to a Kinnect game or two (ooff!) - I have previously preferred the 360, mainly due to I find the controller far more comfy than the PS3's and I have an Xbox live gold account. However, I rarely use it now since it's been commandeered, and when I do power it up it's deafening drive whir and lack of drive capacity (it's a surviving 20gb unit) starts to show it's age. I originally played GTA4, RDR and countless other games on it, it's been a trusty workhorse. But, I cant see me playing GTA5 in the living room with wife and daughter watching, not really conducive to family life! So, my PS3 (and PC) are in my bolt hole of an office, the PS3 has really not been used to it's full potential, partly because I preferred the 360, however, I have enjoyed the Uncharted series and a couple of others on it, I'm looking forward to getting The Last Of Us and will therefore be giving it a bit of use again soon (other than a BD player) - I would automatically choose the PS3 for GTA5 were it not for the controller and, from what I have read, RDR on the PS3 ran at 640p (as opposed to 720p on the 360). I have heard that MP3 ran at 720p on the PS3 - do you guys believe (the PS3 buffs) that GTA5 will also be scaled to 720p? I have no experience of what GTA4, or the expansions were like on the PS3 as I only had them on the 360 (and later on the PC) Anyway, interested in your thoughts and suggestions (constructive ones please!) Cheers Your question isn't really between 360 or PS3, is it? The question is do you kick your daughter off your lounge console and banish her from the living room to play GTA:V or do you play quietly in the privacy of your office. To be honest, I think you answered your own question. As to whether GTA:V will be better on XBOX360 or PS3, no-one really knows until the game is released and they can be compared side by side. And it's even money that they'll be so identical that you'll have to pick hairs to identify differences. Looking back at GTA:IV won't tell you anything because it is so old, and it was their first stab at a major open world game built on RAGE on current gen consoles. Rockstar's games on current gen have improved since then, witness RDR and MP3. I would say your options are these: If you want to play on 360 so badly, do you have enough disposable income to afford a second 360? And will it be worth it? Use your PS3, which won't cost you anything. Then if you want better quality, you have the option of going for the PC version if and when it comes out. Wishful thinking on your part. Why? Both DLCs for IV were exclusive to the 360 for 6 months. And so what if GTA IV's DLC was exclusive to the 360 for 6 months ? It does not automatically mean it will be the same thing again this time around does it ? Come on, don't be silly. * EFLC sold a lot less copies on the 360 as Take Two had hoped when it was released. Take Two indirectly admitted that it was mistake to EFLC a timed exclusive as it resulted the publisher making less money than they hoped for. * Rockstar said at some earlier point in time they will not be doing exclusive DLC again. They are also hinted that they will not not be making any DLC like they did with EFLC. * Even if Rockstar change their minds and do an EFLC-syle DLC, I'm very sure it will not be exclusive on the 360 based on past experience. Apex
That's why I wrote possible DLC exclusives. Plus a lot more people own Xboxes compared to in 2009 and it seems like casual gamers didn't really like IV too much and that could be the reason sales weren't as high as expected for the DLCs. GTA V is a lot more similar to San Andreas compared to IV and might attract a wider demographic. Who knows, that wasn't my main reason for choosing the 360 version anyway.
