Nighdy
Hello community! So after some years of trying to resolve this annoying mouse issue I decided to create new topic in 2013 year. There are already topics about this mouse problem, but no solution, and I don't really want to "dig out" them. So, there's a video presenting this "mouse lag" (LINK), and as you can notice, if this guy moves his mouse slowly in the right "edge" (right and down at once) of the screen, mouse moves only towards right side of screen. It means that you cannot make precise move, what causes problems when for example I play Deathmatches/Cops n' Crocks etc. I've already tried to change some things in commandline file, but it has just failed, and now I don't have any idea how can I fix it. I'm sure that it is in-game issue. EDIT: The topic's name should be Mouse Issue, sorry ;/. Edited May 26, 2013 by Nighdy
CCPD
Have you tried an clean install? It usually fixes most of the problems with the game.
Nighdy
Sure I did. But Rockstar haven't fixed it even in lastest patch. It's not really easy to resolve, if it was simple, I would fix it on my own. Edited May 27, 2013 by Nighdy
CCPD
You can try solutions I found online. Solution 1 -Go to X:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Alpha Protocol\APGame\Config & open APInput.ini file. Set all occurrences of bEnableMouseSmoothing variable in this file (there should be 2) to bEnableMouseSmoothing=False -open APEngine.ini file. Set the following values in appropriate sections [Engine.GameEngine] bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE MinSmoothedFrameRate=1024 MaxSmoothedFrameRate=4096 [systemSettings] UseVsync=False -make all ini files in this folder read only (note – after making these files read only, your changes from the in game menu options may not get saved. If you need to change any settings from the in game menu, it's suggest that you do it before this step). Solution
Nighdy
I'll try it and then I'll let you know about it x).
Nighdy
So it seems like it just doens't work. First solution is recommended for Alpha Protocol and if don't own this game, I also don't have folder named Alpha Protocol on my HDD. Second one is for Logitech's mice, but I don't any of them. I know that there's solution, because I saw one guy, who fixed it, I even tried to ask him how had he done it, but no response from him. He was called bandita or sth like that. Miro
May I suggest you to try to remove your game settings? It's often able to fix such Gameplay bugs. Try also to install the GTA IV Patch 1.0.7.0. Besides, where do you have the game from? Are you using any mods or cracks? Do you play with the original DVD in your Drive? Have you tried to un-install and re-install the game? Nighdy
I've got clean game, because I usually play games like deathmatch, which allow to play ONLY with clean game (and only with patched one). I re-installed it a lot of times, and I also don't use any kind of cracks, with DVD only.
radioman
You left out A LOT of information that is helpful in determining a solution to your problem, and they are: What is the OS? Do you have the latest SP for the OS? What is your Processor? What is the Processor Speed? What is the Video card? What is the Total Vram? What is the Dedicated vram? Any Mods or Trainers? Any Daemon tools or the like installed on PC?-These can cause problems with games.. Any Screenshots to prove the error/problem? Please answer ALL the above questions, so we can better help you.. Why can't people at least post the required information, so it will be quicker and easier to help them? As a lot of times this(mouse lag) is due to low system requirements AND/OR trying to run the game at too high settings. I had this problem too on my old PC..and also happened to an extent with SA V2 on my old XP Home laptop.
Nighdy
Ouch, please forgive me. ~Windows 7 SP1 x64 ~Yep ~Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz @ 3.0Ghz ~GIGABYTE HD6850 1GB ~1GB ~Dedicated for what? For this game? I play with low details, so game needs ~240MB VRAM only. ~I don't play with mods and trainers ~No Deamon Tools or like on my computer (currently) ~There's already a video presenting same problem as I have and I don't really think that I must prove it, because I have no reson to lie to you

Miro
May I suggest you to try to remove your game settings? It's often able to fix such Gameplay bugs. Try also to install the GTA IV Patch 1.0.7.0. Please also try out these suggestions, they might help you. Besides, I've found some more. Have you tried running the game in Windows 98 Compatibility mode or any other Compatibility mode? What about trying to run it as administrator? Oh, and I had two mouse issues, different a little than yours, on San Andreas & Vice City. All I had to do was just download dinput8.dll, place it in the main directory (in your case, the GTA IV directory), and that's it. Might be of help. Nighdy
I'm sorry, but it looks like these advices just can't help me with resolving this problem. There's a video I've found, and it shows how mouse should move ( ). It looks like this guy has found a way to fix this horrible issue, but I've also read the description, which says that he doesn't really want to tell us way to fix it (The reason is unthankful community ._.''). Any other ideas?
Nighdy
Someone explained it really good. "It is something that causes your mouse to skip pixels, what makes your aim not fluent. It is noticeable when moving your aim slowly, you will notice that it is not smooth and sometimes because of that you're not able to aim properly.".
