This idea of one character "turning" on the others is ridiculous.

How is it? Betrayal has been a massive part of every R* game.

As I said earlier, I think it causes problems for the post-story gameplay. I can't see them developing 3 main characters (complete with customization and special abilities) and then killing one off or otherwise making them unusable, as I expect to see all 3 playable for free roam/side missions after the main story is complete. Not saying it's impossible, but I think it's a bad decision, and that they know that.

The alternative is one temporarily betrays the others (e.g., a few missions only allow you to play 2 characters while the third is doing something weird).

I completely expect some form of betrayal, just not in the form of one main character betraying the other two and ending up dead for it.

After reading the apparent "source" of this theory, I'm backpeddling from my earlier post. People are taking things way out of context and trying to create something that isn't there. This idea of one character "turning" on the others is ridiculous.

In the GI preview last year I believe they mentioned this game will have multiple endings. What if each on of the endings will have one protag betraying the others. Seems like an interesting to do tbh. But I doubt it will happen since Trevor is as loyal as a dog and won't do that.

Yeah, that is the biggest problem. But, as you said, there could be a betrayal that gets resolved, or perhaps at the end of the game the three just go their separate ways.

IT'S MICHEAL

"Dan Houser has also stated that despite seeming to be the good guy (at least compared to Trevor), he might end up being worse than Trevor in the end."

Franklin;

A young African-American/Hispanic lad, most likely in his 20's, he wants to escape the life of gangs and such he's supposed to be involved in and wants to make a living doing 'the bigger stuff'

Are you f*cking blind ? Why are you still calling Franklin Hispanic he's clearly black what you gonna do next call Michael Chinese.

You should've gone to Specsavers.

Ive been thinking along this path for a while now, about how the story will progress, and i really think ive got a good version of events....

So Michael is in some sort of witness protection programme.... but used to be a mega time heist guy?...

The only way you ever hear of an old criminal living it up under witness protection is when he snitched on everyone else in on it and walked like a free man. And i think a lot of of the other characters characteristics play on it.

Trailer one.

Michael hints he had a past, wanted to retire, and be a good guy..... redemption by snitching?

says he bought a big house... but the bio from rockstar says he is in witness protection? Maybe they changed the vibe.

Major theme of he wants to get back into it

Trailer two.

Says he has been in the game for a lot of years and managed to get out alive... where is his old crew, dead?

we meet trevor who seems to be the gun slinger

we meet Franklin who seems to be the brains

Both trevor and franklin have their connections to gang related activity

it seems that Michael is the only one with heist related history/knowledge

if he had to tame their skill and hone them, i see trevor being a problem to control, whereas franklin was the son he always wanted, but would be a slippery one, giving us the diversion, when really trevor will probably end up becoming 'neutered' and franklin red faced on a set up.

Either that or they will baby face trevor, kill him but he will come back from an epic wound to kill off Michael once franklin has had his 'father son' feud.

I don't really think any of the main 3 are going to end up an antagonist. For the sake of answering the question, I'll say either Michael or Franklin.

Franklin's my personal favorite pick because he's supposed to be like a younger Michael. And what did Michael do in his younger years? He took a 'sweetheart deal with the FiB'. I imagine at least one of the endings could possibly involve him selling out the other two to essentially become what Michael is at the start of the game: a rich, fairly well off, but miserable person.

But what I'd really like would be brief parts of the game where you get to play as a fourth person, the 'actual' antagonist, doing missions. They could be a police detective, a la Al Pacino's character in Heat, or they could be rival bank robbers, or anything. These segments could be triggered by doing a certain number of the main big heists, since I've read that you don't have to do them in a specific order.

GTA fan from the United Kingdom

R* said there will be multiple ending based on the choices we make throuought the story, so my guess is the will be 3 different endings, and in each ending Michael, Trevor and Franklin will be the antagonists respectively.

OT: I clicked null vote because I like all 3 characters, but I think that if anyone was to betray the group, it would be Michael because he is manipulative and has a big ego.

As we know Michael cut a deal with FIB at some point in his life, i think it would be too obvious for him to end up betraying the group. Unless there is a build up, for example they come down hard on his family and basically bully and blackmail him in to giving up Trevor and Franklin.

But if it is done in a twist style where they didn't expect us to see it coming, it wont work.

Maybe Franklin betrays them due to Lamar telling him to do the heist and leave with the money without the o sarcasm.gif thers or something like that.

I think by comparing the three characters;

Michael is taking a back seat old man kind of role

Trevor is the crazy loose cannon

Where Franklin is the one who hasn't got some kind of mental issue atm, and is young and hungry, doesn't want to be slanging rocks and eating un-releastic steak anymore!

Plus take SA, everyone was part of the hood, part of CJ's plans, then they all turned out to be crooked! Smoke, cop, everyone!

Frst of all, if anything is obvious, it's Michael being the brain of the whole heist thing.

Second - he doesn't have to refer to his crew or imply he had a stable crew and that they are dead just because he said he managed to stay alive. It means he got on top, he got out on time before it all went to sh*t. As far as we know, everyone who ever did heists with him may turn up living in their own mansions. We don't have the details so only Rockstar knows the story.

All we know is Michael and Trevor are old friends and they did crime together in the past. You see, he's alive.

Franklin is the new guy, they just met him, so he at no conditions can't be the brain or leader of anything.

But to be hones this whole post makes no sense. There's no source and all of this came from someone's pipe hole obviously. I doubt Rockstar would ever come up with this stupid idea to make you lose one character they worked so hard on. All three will survive and be cool with each other. There will be arguments, there will be betrayal (by NPC characters - just like in SA you mentioned), there will be a lot of drama. But killing of one of them is like a TV show killing of a main character. You don't do that. And Rockstar is smart enough that they won't.

All 3 characters are protaginists, because theres no way there gonna eliminate one if you can play as all 3, especially if you free roam when the story is over. So on that note I would like to announce THREAD DESTROYED

I had to null-vote. I have a strange feeling, call it a hunch, that nothing like this will happen. The boys may all be dysfunctional and have their own little quirks, but they seem to be a little dysfunctional family per say. I can see them getting mad at each other and disagreeing on many things, but I can't see betrayal.

I don't think they literally mean that one of them will be the main antagonist of the game, more like one of them will cause problems for the others.
