Apparently one Protagonist is an Antagonist..

So I've read in a few places that one of the characters will turn out to be an antagonist, so which character would you prefer to see as the 'bad guy'?

 

Michael;

 

The middle aged guy, bored to death and returning to his former life of crime.

 

Franklin;

 

A young African-American/Hispanic lad, most likely in his 20's, he wants to escape the life of gangs and such he's supposed to be involved in and wants to make a living doing 'the bigger stuff'

 

Trevor;

 

A man most likely in his early 50's, an absolute nutcase, attracted by the bigger bang and not afraid of what he has to do to cause it

Now the question is, who do you wish to see as the antagonist out of the three?

 

How would you like to see them turn into the Antagonist? Is there a reason why? Do you want it to be caused emotionally or just out of greed?

 

So many other questions, so many answers!

I hope its Trevor. Maybe the amount of drugs he takes changes him and he can't trust no one. So he betrays Michael and Franklin. I can also see Franklin thinking he doesn't need Michael or Trevor anymore and betrays them for money. I can also see Michael thinking he wants something different and betrays both his friend Trevor and Franklin. ( Can't really see this though )

If they go straight up antagonist route, it's going to be Micheal. They've made that fairly obvious I feel.

 

But it's more like they are going to screw stuff up for each other than it being that one of them is specifically the bad guy.

None of them are really going to be the MAIN antagonist if that's the case. I mean it's all perspective.

 

E.g. If Trevor is against Michael, from Michael's perspective Trevor is an antagonist. And from Trevor's perspective, Michael is an antagonist.

None of them are really going to be the MAIN antagonist if that's the case. I mean it's all perspective.

 

E.g. If Trevor is against Michael, from Michael's perspective Trevor is an antagonist. And from Trevor's perspective, Michael is an antagonist.

Trevor is going to feel that Franklin is getting in between him and Michael.

Michael will feel that Trevor is a loose canon who is going to get them screwed.

Franklin will feel that Michael is holding him back.

 

Or something, I dunno.

Like, if his ambition starts get in the way of his relationships; not just with Lamar but with Michael and Trevor as well. The quiet guy that slowly and steadily moves up in the world and refuses to stop. Apparently there's going to be 6 heists, maybe Michael and Trevor realise it's time to stop, but Franklin wants to push through for even more money/power with tragic results.

I don't think they will kill one off. But if they did they should have it so the protagonist that you played the less becomes the antagonist. So that gives the player control in whom they want the antagonist to be.

Mhm. Maybe they do intend to though, they've never had a map open from the start before, maybe they want us to not feel cheated at all when and if they do kill a protagonist off.

I thought the whole "one is the antagonist" thing would be up to our own interpretation of the characters and how they move the plot forward.

I seriously doubt they'd do anything resulting in the death of one of the 3 main characters, as I think it'd be a huge mistake as far as post-story gameplay implications.

 

Even worse if they did some half-assed "replacement" like RDR. His kid was such an annoying piece of sh*t. But I think that's even more farfetched.

 

If the "a protagonist becomes an antagonist" thing is true, I'm skeptical as to what this really means. Does "protagonist" imply it's only Michael, Franklin, or Trevor? Is it a temporary thing during the story? Is it some bullsh*t dream sequence or something?

 

EDIT: After reading the apparent "source" of these theories, I don't believe any of this. See post on page 5.

I don't think one of the three dudes would become an antagonist. But, If that's how Rockstar made the story, then I think it would be Michael. But, I don't wanna kill him. He is the one that looks so bad-ass!

Michael: FIB/IAA/Government asked him to be a snitch, so he turned against his 2 friends

Franklyn: His friends thug life friends, such as Lamar want you to betray Michael and Trevor (attacking their business or somethin)

Trevor: He is crazed, he want it ALL, he wants the power..

 

i hope there will be an ending where all of them stay together though.......

I think it would be cool if Michael ended up as an antagonist. It would be neat to see Franklin and Trevor, the two who barely know each other, to work together and bring Michael down.

I know a lot of you guys like Franklin... but I think he would be if any. Michael and Trevor were close before, and are good friends. They bring Franklin in. Franklin learns from them, and I can see him doing his own thing at the same time. slowly backstabbing the other two, then betraying them, after learning everything they have to teach him. Kind of the style of The Italian Job. When Steve (I think his name was) helped them rob the safe, then backstabbed them taking everything for himself. That would be a cool twist.

That ending made no sense at all to me.

How? It's simple, crack was a big influence in 90s Los Santos/Los Angeles, lots of money to be made. Smoke wants in, but Sweet wants them to stay away from it so he joins the rival gang that is getting rich from dealing crack. It's all about money.

But maybe it's more complex then just straight out badness. Maybe it's a bit like Breaking Bad, the game seems to have been inspired by it.

I think there won't be a clear antagonist. More like the guys start work against each other and you'll have to make up in your own mind whose side are you on.

 

I think the conflict might start between Michael and Franklin. It's just a trainwreck waiting to happen. Franklin is ambitious and no doubt will try to get himself in a better position, while Michael is more experienced and likes to control people around him. How long until Franklin gets fed up with Michael's lead? I wonder what would be Trevor's role in conflict like this though.
