StateofMind15
In GTA IV you could jump onto vending machines and dumpsters, but hopefully we'll be able to climb poles and pipes in GTA V.

minwager
The thing is, L.A. Noire was very linear and foot-chase oriented so it made sense that there were poles and ladders everywhere that you could climb. I really can't see why you would do such a thing in GTA, especially V where it looks like you'll be spending your millions of heist-earned dollars on the best transportation the world has to offer. But yeah, I guess the more details in the game the better, and it couldn't hurt to be able to give more climbing options.

Chukkles
I hope climbing is more advanced. They said we could climb telephone poles in GTA IV, but they took it out. It was solely for the press demo, so they could get to an elevated place and have a view. It won't be in V because you never see those poles with all the steps. The worker has to put a ladder up to the first steps, it's a safety precaution so members of the public can't hurt themselves by playing all over them. GTA 360
I hope climbing is better than it is in IV there is a rock in front of you, you would obviously be able to climb over it in real life, but no, you have to walk to the other end of the map to get up. Markhayzy
I've always thought this area needs improvement in GTA. I wish we could rock climb and climb trees etc. it would be much more realistic, it would create more varied getaway opportunities (how many times have you been ccornered in IV and thought "bullsh*t! In real life i would have climbed over that) and would be more realistic. Imagine scaling chiliad.

Hugef1
Yes, during 6 star wanted chases in IV I've often thought "Damn I wish I could climb a tree to get away from the cops".
LittleBlueTroll
Climbing in IV sucks. It feels so restricted and stiff, doesn't feel fluid like it should. Obviously i am not expecting Assassins Creed style but something needs major improvement. Like i have said on here before, there are San Andreas cleo parkour mods that are a huge improvement over the climbing in IV. I really do like climbing things in game, seeing what roofs i can get on and things like that, so climbing is important to me.
TheIllaDopest
said before said again but just watch this at 0:49 seconds in at 8:20 watch how exploding a blimp would look like too, bonus Edited May 26, 2013 by TheIllaDopest
Patriot_Action
Some climbing/vertical mobility would be neat as it (literally) adds a new dimension to the gameplay. That said, no freerunning Assassin's Creed BS. Although, I might like to see Michael haul his old ass up the side of a building and do a Danny Glover "I'm getting too old for this sh*t." meson1
There should definitely be more climbable things than in GTA:IV. It was annoying that you couldn't jump and grab onto fire escape ladders even though they were perfectly within reach. That's where a game starts to lose it's immersion when you encounter an artificial restriction like that. Come to that, it was difficult to control not vaulting too. That is to say, you want to climb on something in front of you, but your character tended to vault over it instead. That made it difficult manoeuvring your character close to the edge of buildings; even if the wall you were trying to get onto was easily wide enough to walk on, you still ended up vaulting right over it and plummeting to your death. Another handy move to include would be the ability to climb off an edge and hang before dropping. It would make climbing down certain places more controllable. So there you are: a small range of additional climbing and vaulting related moves that would make character controls ten times easier. And it's all fairly realistic stuff too; it's not like I'm asking for any strange superhuman abilities.
RedDagger
Something I found annoying in IV was that walls that were too high to jump over without animation, but too low to do the animation of jump 'n grab. They were literally impossible to get over, despite being up to Niko's stomach. Also, like meson1, vaulting and grabbing onto fire escape ladders. They were everywhere, but you had to do some special thing to get up to about a quarter of them, leaving other rooftops only accessible by helicopter.
