I'm confused about the map size opinions.

From a shread of maps being put together and that it's only a fraction of the map in itself. Plus rockstar stated that "this is is the biggest open world game we've ever designed." Not assure these so called "fans" of the series that this map. Is utterly gigantic!

 

Can someone help me here? Or is this forum really full of total idiots?

Just Cause 2 map size ( if u didn't play , do it or watch youtube ) imagine it x 10 times bigger in gta v.

So.If there is no fast travel option and there is a straight road that leads only forward and no turns left or right and you want to reach the other side of map from where u are , then while driving fastest car you ever seen in any gta , you will reach the other side of gta v , in more than 1 and a half hours.Enjoy.

Fact is we don't know how big the map is until we see it. People think the city looks small based on the screens and I agree but again we haven't seen everything and until we play the game ourselves we won't know for sure.

It's going to be half the size of JC2, if even that. JC2 didn't have a large city area. Everything was splitted up in islands and most of the islands was a big f*cking forest.

I for one thought gta 4 was huge. And the fact that Los santos alone is even bigger then LC. That's gigantic. A major improvement I'd say compared to San andreaas

From what I've been reading on here it looks like the city might be a little smaller than we had hoped however I'm sure the rest of the map (countryside) along with the under water exploration and all that air space will prove more than enough to satisfy our needs. We'll just have to wait and see though.

Well. . .I. . .I really don't believe that jc2's map size is bigger than san andrea , iv and rdr together.Not at all.

Maybe bigger than san andreas and iv together.Maybe.Well , still it was nightmare , i spent 120 ( first time i palyed ) and then 80 hours ( second time ) to complete 100% this game , but .....I didn\t really had a prob to see a gta in jc2 map size.I knew that R* knew how to make such a world full of things to interact with.Also it will be enjoyful instead of Just cause that was repeating it's available activities.

 

Now you people saying that it will be half jc2? -_- Oh...man....And i thought that gta v SP will reach gameplay time of skyrim.

But it seems that in 20 hours gta v will be over.Then i should not pre-order and start looking forward for AC 4 BLACK FLAG.It will be ( According to what u said ) for certain bigger in length and map size ( even if it's sea it's map size ) than gta v.

Most of the people are complaining about the size of the city, which we've seen almost the entirety of in the map, not the entire land. So no amount of the countryside changes the fact that Los Santos is smaller than they wanted. (As for my perspective, I'm fairly satisfied and I'm ecstatic about the map as a whole).

GTA 5 isn't anywhere near half the size of JC2. It will be a bit over 1/20th the size. JC2 is 400 square miles while GTA 5 will be around 20 square miles, not including the water. I'm going by actual statistics, not random measurements pulled from my ass.

Yes, although jc2's map is huge it lacked detail and good map design, by the look of screenshots gta v will have great detail and a decent map size. Quality > quantity.

I really don't care how big the city is. I just want it like Liberty City. I want the country side huge. The last time we had a country side in a GTA game was SA. That was 9 years ago.

But Ot, I dont think the map is small, but i think Los Santos looks tiny. Like the town i live in is bigger than that. I hope it's simply not showing every street or that the guy put it together wrong or something... I really do hope LS isnt as small as it looks because tbh it doesnt look like a city. Sure the country's there and that'll be cool, but i have my concerns, and no i'm not a douche.

I see what you're saying. There could be more to LS to the south, most likely suburbia, and that blacked out area in northeastern Los Santos could add a lot more to the city. But I myself am disappointed in East Los Santos and the fact that the Los Puerta Fwy. doesn't head that much south of Los Santos.

I'm sorry dude but you are an idiot. JC2 is 400sq miles, GTAV is just over 20sq miles, using RDR + GTAIV + GTASA. Do your research next time.
