I'd love to be able to drive it, live in it like a safe house and have a helicopter and garage on board so when we dock I can drive out in a sports car biggrin.gif

Omg that would be amazing!!!!! biggrin.gif

I doubt that you can park a car on it, but a jetski garage is very likely.

This thread is dedicated to the luxurious yacht which can be seen on a GTA V's screenshot and in the trailer about Michael.

possible you could eventually buy it as one of the business opportunities

hire a captain for an exclusive cruise

like owning the blimp for tours

Hey guys, maybe it's a stupid question, but why the huge boat like tow lags the game (GTA IV), but huge planes in GTA SA doesn't? Is it because of the water physics computations or high number of polygons in the model or something else?

Hello people! smile.gif

Thank you all for your responses!

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but remember the Tug in GTA IV? I see the Yacht being the same as that. Big, slow, not fun to sail to most people (But still very fun to many). It could be very similar. GTA V has the most vehicles in any GTA game, so I'm guessing it will be operable, just not exactly fast or 'fun'.

Well, the maximum speed of the yacht could equal 20 knots (approx. 37 km/h). That's fast enough for such a big watercraft, though not fast enough to escape from the police. biggrin.gif

Some members and I do also believe that it could be controlled by the computer, not by the player.

A few months ago, almost nobody would believe we could control a full size blimp, so I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility of a vehicle of comperable size and recreation to be controllable.

We'll see:^:

THis. I definetly think its possible. Great post OP. This also made me curious about the other vehicles found in the MP3 data. If it is clear R* have carried over and/or tweeked the same model for this yacht to GTAV then maybe there is some truth to some of the other vehicles being models for it also. interesting stuff.

Thanks guys!

I guess we have to wait until we'll find out something more about the yacht in-game or until the game's release. smile.gif

Hey, nice topic BTW.... Your very very close on it. The Yacht will be movable and im sure it is a safehouse too.

Do you remember the Campfire Savefunction from RDR? That is exactly the function R* will use for the Yacht (only on the water;). U will have the option to anchor every where u like or dock the yacht in the Marina.

The mini sub will be acessable - as you told- from the yacht. Roman Abramovich's Yacht got also a mini sub on board... it very likely that R* adept that feature. As you told too, the sub is very very slow, so starting at a harbour makes no sense. Or do u want to travel 1hr to reach your target diving spot?wink.gif

Very nice work on that topic!

Thnaks mate! smile.gif

By the way, you're not the only one who thinks that this yacht could be a moveable safehouse. Azazel is the same opinion. He told it to me before I created this topic.

Campfire Savefunction? - I don't know what it is. I haven't played RDR...

Edit: Just read about it on wikia. Great thing! It's actually very possible that Rockstar could implement it in GTA V with help of this yacht.

I'm not sure about the submarine being accessible from the yacht. It could be accessible from another big boat or a small ship (e.g. Tug). But I think you're right by stating that Marcelo's yacht (in Max Payne 3) is based on Abramovich's "Eclipse". And the van Hardenburg's yacht (in TBoGT) is probably based on "Octopus" - the yacht of Paul Allen.

At first I thought that the mini-submarine is carried by the yacht, but then I watched those gameplay videos from Max Payne 3 and noticed that this yacht is only able to carry 4 jetskis and 1 helicopter while the "Eclipse" can carry 2 helicopters, 1 submarine and is equipped with 20 jetskis. The Abramovich's yacht is also bigger (longer) than Marcelo's yacht from Max Payne 3.

Though Rockstar could the rooms of the yacht in such a way that there would be a place for a mini-submarine too. Nothing is impossible. Furthermore, it won't be a surprise to me if the interior of the yacht in GTA V significantly differs from the interior of the yacht in Max Payne 3.

We had this big ass ship in GTA IV. Was it fun to maneuver? No. It was intresting for like 1 minute...then I just wondered how long it may take until I touch ground again.

Anyway I don't see too many reasons why it shouldn't be a vehicle. But they better make it intresting...they might allow you to invite a couple of friends for a party with several mini games.

Makes no fun cause u can drive that yacht only with a mod. There are not the right physics with it and the map of NY supports not a needet water level. The sea is a new and big feature in V. So we need more features and ships as in the past GTAs, where all boats are pretty similar cause there was no focus on the water...

What kind of yacht are you talking about, guys? It's not the yacht from TBoGT. Or is it?

Anyway, I've never seen this mod for IV.

Could you provide me a link to it? smile.gif

The ship in IV was seen on the map as part of it. The yacht in V isn't seen on the map at all, pointing towards it not being part of the map (or a one time mission thing)

Yeah, unfortunately, it was just a map object. I really hope that this is not just an object in GTA V. Though it really could appear in a mission only. That would be sad. sad.gif

Also, while editing screenshot #481 for this post I noticed that there is also no yacht near Del Perro Pier. This also confirms that the yacht isn't standing there stationary.

So we have 3 screenshots and the Michael's trailer which confirm this: screenshot #71 (no yacht near the pier), scrennshot # (no yacht near the pier), and screenshot #781 (yacht appears near the pier). In the trailer about Michael - Tracy-on-yacht scene depicts the yacht anchored near the pier.

I agree. The yacht could be used as a garage for jetskis. It could also carry a helicopter, but not a car.

hire a captain for an exclusive cruise

That is what I'm thinking about. Here is my quote from the topic called "Grand Theft Auto V Is Coming 9.17.2013" (from the News section):

[...] I think that the yacht could be controlled by computer, if it's a moveable vehicle and not just a map object like in TBoGT.

In real life if you own such a big yacht, you don't control it by yourself, you let a whole crew do this for you. So you need a crew to be hired for that (otherwise you just use the waypoint-map method). This possibly could even be featured in the game since we can hire and fire people to perform a heist. As we know, the option of hiring/firing other people is in the game, and they cost money. This could also be an example of what you can spend the money on. In the game we will be able to earn millions of dollars. And this could be one of the reasons for pursuing of the almighty dollar. [...]

My whole post (if you're interested).

Man, you really love that Yacht don't you? Haha. I'll take the Blimp thanks. smile.gif

Yeah, I like big boats smile.gif

Hmm... If I'm using the Tug, the game doesn't lag on my PC. Everything's fine.

Maybe that's because of your hardware, or because of a bad optimization by Rockstar? - I don't know.

Yes. That's a theory.

Because it wouldn't be much fun to drive it by yourself. It would be better if you could let the computer control it while doing other things on board: walking freely on decks, watch TV, enjoy the sights and so on. smile.gif

Even though the position of the yacht changes between the trailer, since GTA V looks like it is going to be extremely realistic (in terms of environment, with animals and weathers, etc.), I wouldn't surprised if the yacht was a non-drivable object, but still moved in relation to the tide and waves, as a boat would.

Plus, even in TBOGT, the yacht in the mission Sexy Time was static, even though it appears to be the same size, at least in regards to decks. Currently, the largest watercraft in the GTA universe is the tug from IV, which was 2 decks, with a possible 3rd underneath that we couldnt access, but then again, R* made the world bigger, so they could be bumping up the vehicles as well, especially since based on screens the jet aircraft (two shown are the passenger aircraft from Micheal's trailer and the cockpit of what looks like a bomber from a screen), they look enormous compared to the characters and other vehicles.

Really good post man, it's nice to see a post witch isn't a stupid idea and filled with passion. I would love just about all of your ideas, and it does indeed look like the yacht from Max Payne 3, I like the setting a course and it driving idea more though. I really want this in the game now.

It does on PS3, even hung the game once, mostly when the boat touches a land. So it could be playable (i mean the yacht) like a regular vehicle i think, if R* improved game engine and resolved this bug.

Another my thoughts: we see the large waves during a storm in the one screenshot and we also see the yacht near the pier in the other, If the yacht is always there so it must have a sophisticated animation to sway on the waves. So it must be a regular boat or some other new technology. The argument against the regular boat is another bug (or shortcoming) which causes players to glide off the moving vehicle. So R* need a workaround for these problems.

There was a ship we could drive on GTA IV and it had a pretty good size. There was no interior though

EDIT: No scrap that. The its a jacuzzi not a helipad tounge.gif

Still, it's interesting to note the differences between this yacht and the one in V. This is an expedition yacht with a tall, flared bow for fighting heavy seas. The one in V is more of a harbour queen.

I enjoyed exploring every inch of Max Payne 3's yacht. After the disappointing (read: non-existant) interior to TBOGT's yacht the one in MP3 had a lot of nifty details, things most gamers would ignore the significance of (like the contrast between the buffet-style crew's mess Max starts out in and the grander- though still hardly swanky- dining room topside) but which I gobbled hungrily up.

Still, it should have been even bigger. I'd love to see a real MEGAyacht in GTA one day, something over 400' to explore & fight in, and ultimately sink or ram into a harbour. I don't see why piloting this yacht would cause lag. It'll do 18-24 knots tops.

Here is what I talked about, how do you think are they able to fix this?

The lag (it seems it present in xbox360 versions too):

The gliding:

I wish GTAV to be the first GTA where this 'features' are resolved.

Great topic the best Ive seen, I have been thinking the exact same thing and I really hope Rockstar let us use the yacht also to add more info: when you dive under the boat they will have to detail the props so with all that detail and physics attention it must be drivable at least I hope!

Hmm it might not be useable in the sense that you can drive it. However, we might be able to us it as a safe house?

I especially liked your idea of setting a waypoint on the map and a computer would do all of the work.

I have a feeling that it may be the location of one of the many heists in the game. You could have options like infiltrating the vessel via the underwater route or even disguising yourself as a waiter while there's a big party being thrown? Hell maybe take the pirate route and attack the ship and everybody on it.

Perhaps it belongs to some billionaire who uses their yacht for smuggling diamonds, cash, drugs etc

Then again, I wouldn't mind being able to commander or purchase such a fine vessel. Nothing like having your own private cruise ship to really give the sense of reaping the rewards of stealing!

Yeah, could be... But don't you think that it's a little bit odd to see Tracy already being on board of this yacht? What could she do on board of this vessel?

Maybe making parties on daddy's yacht? biggrin.gif

I don't think Michael would appreciate it (in case it's really Michael's yacht). smile.gif

By the way, we've already had a mission in TBoGT where a billionaire and weapon-smuggler Frickie van Hardenburg used his yacht to bring the Buzzard to Liberty City and sell it there.

Do you reckon, Rockstar would put a similar mission into V involving another yacht?

You never know!

It could be Michael is surprised (and pretty pissed) when he turns up to find her partying. Could be that blows his cover and sets things into motion.

  • 2 weeks later...

As V being a game about the almighty dollar, I reckon it's rather plausible with an fully operating yacht. They are SO extremely expensive, and a lot of them carry submarines, helicopters and jetskies -which all are vehicles featured in V.

The submarine which we have seen in a couple of screens, travels pretty slow, so it would be nice to be able to sail it to a desired location with the yacht, and submerge to the depths with over on-board submersible.

Read on this website about a dozen of those insanely expensice yachts.

A couple of them resemble the likeness of the yacht seen at the end of the pier:
