GTA V: Hardcore Mode

I was just thinking and it's probably been brought up but what if GTA V had a hardcore mode? We would have less and slower regenerating health, everything cost more, Enemy AI's are harder, police are more aware of your actions, no lock-on aim, perhaps even a way to introduce a fuel system for cars. It could only expand the replay value and helps if there gamers looking for that extra challenge.

I don't see this fitting my GTA experience, I usually have enough time to kill looking for unique stunts, collectables and such.

There was a hardcore option in Redemption. Wouldn't be mandatory, dude.

I'd say wait for the pc version, you can turn auto aim off and you get to mod the game to fit your tastes.

Hardcore shouldnt have any health regen at all, everything else sounds good.

They could also make things cost more and special abilities would take longer to regenerate.

No lock aim should be optional anyway.

I expect no difficulty options whatsoever. Also, I just hope the game isn't easy. Crysis 3 was too f*cking easy, that's why it got low scores apart for the game being short.

And once you die, it's GAME OVER for that character. So you get 3 lives (playing as Trevor/Michael/Franklin) until it's game over for good.

Hardcore mode would definitely be an interesting addition to GTA V, and in a way would allow some players to experience more RPG elements as seen in GTA SA in addition to a harder challenge while being able to keep in mind it is completely OPTIONAL, catering to all types of players. Classic GTA players can play the regular game whereas others who prefer a bit extra added realism will be able to toggle it with an option!

 

A few elements Hardcore could contain are:

 

-Health must be raised with first aid kits, food or sleep. No Regenerating health.

-Player is required to eat/drink after a certain period of time or die

-Player is required to sleep after a certain period of time or stats could be negatively affected

-No auto aiming options such as Soft Lock/Hard Lock

-Vehicles must be refueled after being operated over long distances

-Harder, more intelligent enemy AI that force you to think fast (e.g by rushing, flanking and making use of cover)

-If killed or arrested, the affected player character must spend one in game day at hospital or in jail, forcing you to use only the other protagonists.

-Much less ammunition and weapon drops from enemies, resources must be reserved and used efficiently.

-Higher costs on purchasable goods, players must use their money appropriately.

-Limit on gear that can be carried at one time, limiting you to only 2 sidearms and 1 long gun (Similar to Max Payne 3)

-Affect on movement speed dependent on how much you are carrying. (e.g you'll run faster and jump higher with only two pistols rather than wearing armor and carrying an RPG)

Uhh that'd be a bitch if you were just playing around, free roaming. How about if a character dies you'll have to wait a few game hours for him to get fixed up and then you'll have to pay the hospital bill.

I'm all for extra challenge, but only stuff that would actually be fun, obligatory eating, sleeping and having to refuel cars would be just be a mandatory waste of time, no challenge added at all, and while I agree the weapons should have a limit, it shouldn't be THAT limited, and being slowed down is boring and annoying.

Someone should tweet R* this idea until its too late and game goes gold! ...Not that R* wouldn't know what to do with their own game, but i think "reminding" them its a good idea wouldn't hurt and considering they're kind of developers, that really listen to their fanbase (at least yet...) than i wouldn't be surprised if they'd listen to "hardcore mode" suggestion! I dunno about you, but i definitely tired of people endlessly posting silliest suggestions and wishes about GTAV that you could possibly imagine, putting hardcore mode into the game, would fulfill their wishes! That is given if "hardcore mode" weren't suggested already through their tweeter/facebook or newswire!

Yes, God yes, GTA is so friggin easy. Usually on my second playthrough I go without armor and only use a pistol when possible.

yeah hardcore was on my "wishlist" in the sticky thread

figured they would add it like in RDR GOTY

 

mabye you can adjust the difficulty level on the heists missions

if the cars had more realistic damage, and they crumpled much easier, i would deff play hardcore.

If you want to make it harder, then turn your radar off and keep watching your surroundings for targets and destinations!

Or keep listening to your GPS voice whilst driving. Is that easy for you? That ain't easy for a genius like me, EINSTEIN! Are you that idiotic?

Lol ever played Crysis 3 on ultimate soldier difficulty? Enemies drop you within a second, with armor on in like 1.5 second. And Crysis 3 is longer than the regular story as well.

You really call THAT challenging? And why the hell are you even freaking out like that?

Also, changes are coming, GTA used to not be about multiple protagonists either, or special abilities, so your argument is not really valid.
