R* Says Bonus Content Not Available Cross Platform

I submitted a R* support request asking if Collector/Special Edition content would be able to be moved between platforms if a standard version was purchased on a different platform than the Collector/Special Edition. My thinking here was that the bonus content might be associated with your Social Club account. Stephen H. at R* (Tier 1 support) responded with the following message:

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

 

Unfortunately, as with all DLC, the DLC and Bonus content for GTA V is unavailable to be used across platforms. It can only be assigned to one account, Gamertag OR PSN.

 

We apologize for any inconveniences this might cause.

I am not certain how this will effect any future release on next gen consoles but it may answer a question or two for someone.

Speaking hypothetically the PS4 will use the same PSN as you have now so your stuff you download can be re-downloaded to the PS4 in order to play PS3 DLC. Possibly the same with XboxOne so this means nothing. If you expected R* to drop hints about next gen versions you're in for a long wait.

Again, as I originally stated, I was wondering if there would be some level of association with your Social Club account. For instance, the exclusive multiplayer car from the Collector's Edition. I wasn't about to start thinking that Xbox Live and PSN would be magically compatible.

 

And I was hoping that if I bought the PS3 CE and later bought the 360 regular version, I might be able to use some of the content from my CE. I was not looking for hints about next gen releases. All of this thought process again goes back to the Social Club R* really started integrating with MP3.
