Nemesis2252
So in the recent SE/CE reveal, they also said that with any pre-order, you will get to fly the Atomic blimp. the description is as follows: "High above the streets of Los Santos floats the Atomic Blimp, hawking Los Santos’ finest tire company (whose products are available in any LS Customs garage). Pre-order now to gain the ability to pilot the most iconic and leisurely aircraft in the Los Santos skies (please note that all pre-orders made before today will also get access to the blimp)." We know that cars can be customized and this confirms tires. My question is to what extent do you guys think we can customize tires? will it be strictly visual, making them bigger or wider, or can you equip off-road type of tires for the countryside in the dirt/mud? R* said cars can be customized visual and performance so its not too far off to think that one of the performance upgrades could be offroad? Patriot_Action
My guess is that car customization will be strictly cosmetic, and not enhance performance. I don't think car performance upgrades in games are worth it unless they do it fully (like an actual racing game), which I don't see happening. EDIT: Although I think it's reasonable to have different types of vehicles handle differently under different conditions (e.g., off-road). EDIT2: Looks like I'm incorrect (see post below). tenpennyisplainevil
Some nice rims like in SA, maybe tires that increase traction a bit.

I don't remember the source, but I think when car customisation was shown to be in the game, they also said it improved cosmetic and performance. Not certain, though. Passwrd
I'm almost certain that somewhere it said that the customization level is on par with midnight club, so although MC:LA only had visual changes to the tires I don't see why we cant get things like sports tires, off road tires, drag tires, economy tires and things like that in V. Patriot_Action
Hmm, well apparently I'm off the mark. Curious to see the variety of performance upgrades, and whether they make noticeable differences. Edited May 24, 2013 by Patriot_Action
GTAFan0913
All of you who said performance upgrades are available are correct. They are in. It is not just cosmetic upgrades. They specifically said the customization in the game will be on par with Midnight Club: LA. I don't really feel like hunting down the source, but I most certainly will if someone feels the need to challenge me.
CommonSeb
Not only that. They also mentioned that you can tune an engine to the point where it breaks down. So you can destroy a car by pushing the engine to far.
K.Walters
I think that the would be these types of tires: * Default * Drag * Racing * Drifting * Offroad * Bulletproof Each are ment for specific situation and each has a upside and a downside. So if you are racing, you pick racing tires. If you are robbing a bank you take bulletproof so your tires won`t go flat during the escape.
Booya818
Yep defo performance upgrades. I think Rockstar confirmed it to the press/reviewers at the game preview. In San Andreas there was such tag as an "off road" tyre. So I doubt they would exclude this. Maybe they will make it more available to trucks - switch from road tyres to off road ones. Would be pretty cool.
universetwisters
* Bulletproof Are there even such a thing? Must be thick as hell
S1LV3R_W0LF
As long as you can get flat tires, I'll be happy with them. I'm concerned that we haven't seen any yet, but I hope this time they made them more realistic, I mean you can do it in watch Dogs so you should be able to do it for GTAV too, shouldn't be a problem to do it. I love games where you can shoot a tire of a fast car and make it fly like an Hollywood movie.
Patriot_Action
* Bulletproof Are there even such a thing? Must be thick as hell Not sure about actual "bulletproof" tires, but there are "run-flats" which don't deflate as much when punctured, and you can continue driving on them (within reason). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run-flat_tire
ITSLOCBABY
I'd be happy with a few performance customisation options, but not overloaded. Im just happy as hell they've included car customisation. Can't wait for that. Off road tires are a must

I'm almost certain they're going to have a manual transmission option in there now, it's going to be epic tuning cars online then setting up drag races in the desert
Vex_Doppel
I'm glad to see they are making the cars really good for races but I'm hoping to see some really good areas to race. I wouldn't mind if they blocked off areas and changed them up a bit to make the racing maybe more linear and cinematic with the right amount of challenges. loony979
Good Point - will make off roading quit good & plus if you look @ the quad bike those wheels looks great for that purpose ,if we can do the equivalent to cars or what not ill like that indeed . will this car custom stuff be effected tho online ? i hope nothing is compromised .
