Roughly the same size as LC and LC was big city so I am very satisfied.

Whoever made this comparison should take another look at the maps

It's so wrong it hurts

Uh...how so?

Yes. If it's the same size as Liberty City that's plenty big for me.

Runways are same length, that's where the reference point came from.

Uh...how so?

Take a look at the street going through downtown in GTA V

It has 8 lanes but it's just as big as the street in GTA IV which had only 4 lanes?

you should also compare the ship at the docks because it appears to be the exact same model we had in GTA IV

and the runway doesn't have to be the same length (I'd look more for the width and think about how in GTA IV it didn't really matter how long the runway was because no plane started or landed there)

I don't even know why people aren't satisfied with the size of Los Santos because, they haven't shown the whole outline of the city yet! I think people need to look over the half-previewed map again. Just by looking at it, you can tell there's more of Los Santos to the north and to the south, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Plus, when Grand Theft Auto IV released, a lot of people complained about the lack of planes and jets or basically aircraft! Rockstar then released a statement saying that Liberty City was just too small to make aircraft present during that period! Overall, Grand Theft Auto V's map capacity will be the overall size of GTA IV, GTA: SA and Red Dead Redemption combined (with room to spare)... can we just take that for what is it?!

Regardless if Los Santos is only a bit bigger or smaller than Liberty City, keep in mind it was said there are a lot more interiors than in IV. And from the screenshots and trailers we've seen, it does look like there are a lot more open buildings.

I'll tell you after I've played it.

x2

(It's spelled Raavi, go edit your post) stop moaning, you haven't even played it yet.

LOL at Knife. lol.gif

First of all, it is Raavi with double A and a single R, shouldn't be to difficult to type. Second, I'm not moaning I'm merely stating my honest opinion, which ostensibly differs from yours, which is fine as we both live in a free country. And opinions are there to differ.

Sorry I didn't look at your name's spelling before I replied.

And my opinion is that your's is stupid because you haven't even played the game yet you're saying "it appears to be smaller than LC in IV". The whole map hasn't even been revealed and you're basing the size on part of a blueprint of which the scale compared to the whole map isn't yet known.

On first glance I was disappointed, but they did say that Los Santos is wider than Liberty. Which is true. LA is. There's more buildings and whatnot per block and it's not as condensed. It's already proven to be very close to Liberty; minus the water between LC's islands. The fact is, the city and the rest of the wilderness is going to be absolutely massive once we're playing the game

I really don't understand how people can be so stupid.

Look here, as long as LS is anywhere NEAR LC's size, you should be happy. There will no doubt be 10x as much detail on the streets of LS as in LC. You will also get the beautiful countryside that will probably be about 2 to 3 times larger than the city. I honestly don't understand what so many people are complaining about.

soo true, to me it sounds like "a big city with thousend useless buidlings = more fun", its all about the details and atmospheres !

I'm not impressed with it, I wanted more skyscrapers and denser blocks but I guess it doesn't really suit Los Santos.

It's a shame really, since I'm not a fan of countryside or mountains but I can live with it. I'm sure a bit of variety is good.

And I believe Vice City would be perfect to house the next GTA for it's beautiful skyscrapers and beaches. biggrin.gif

Not having really experienced it I can't say for sure...

But I think I'm satisfied.

If this forums figures are correct and LS is the same size as LC it's still a damn big city. The main city in V will be the same as the whole of IV, and there's still the mountains, rivers, desert, lake, oceans, and a couple small towns.

Would it be nice if it were bigger? Sure. I'd love to have a world 5 times as big with a story 6 times as long and 10 times the vehicles and weapons...

But given that they are a business and have to at some point release a product in order to fund further production...

I'm pretty bloody well satisfied.

I'm very happy with it, but in all honesty if it was small I wouldn't care. I'm super excited about everything else.

The more I analyse the map and screenshots, the more happy I am with the size.

It even looks like more fun to drive through; were as a lot of Algonquin was dull and samey.

I just imagine how fun it would be to speed around in the more intricate roads of Los Santos, dodging traffic and not people,

travelling through all the different kinds of neighborhoods of this one huge city area.

I don't mind the size of the city, I just hope there's enough to do inside it. Of course, I wouldn't mind if it was bigger, but I'll be spending most of my time out in the countryside anyway.

Map size is not important. What`s important is what you can do with it. A map can be the same size as 1 GTA4 island, but there is enough stuff to do that you can`t do it all in just few days, and at the same time a map can be 10x bigger than San Andreas map, but it has nothing interesting to do in it and everything can be done within 3 hours.Im happy with the map that is calculated from the screenshots and trailers. It looks small by looking at the map, but by the screenshots it looks huge. And to be honest I wouldn`t like if the map was insanly huge, because it would take forever to get to the other side. Anyways I don`t think GTA5 map will be a dissapointment, because I know that there will be a lot to do. One of the things I will 100% do is take a car, customize it and create a race track that goes around the map. I remember doing this in TDU and TDU2. There will be so much to do that I don`t think I will do it all within a month.

Yet people are praising the city size without playing the game. It's called observation. Nobody is talking abut the full map. Based on what we have seen so far the city looks small to me but as I said before I'll wait until I play the game before I decide as scale is hard to tell from the maps of the city and screens.

wheres the poll option for ''noone knows the size of the map''? all we have is fan recreations and guesses. yes some of them could be pretty accurate, but a map is still a map. you dont know the size until you play it.

The poll is about the city, not the whole map.

There should be a third option on this poll:

I haven't played the game yet, so I can't honestly answer.

Well I was actually playing V this morning and I think it is the perfect size...I mean why else would a poll like this exist unless we have all played the game and know how big LS is.

Well, my "Los Santos" is 15 (miles)2, and I'm satisfied with it. I don't know about the size of your "Los Santos" and I don't want to find out but if you feel discontent for it, then it might be smaller.
