No, but some sacrificed would have surely been made if they wanted to make a bigger city, whether it's less features or smaller map size.

I. Not sure how big LS is, but the map section we've seen makes it look tiny.

The roads have to be huge for that map to make sense.

I am not greedy and didn't expect Rockstar to make the ENTIRE western seaboard of teh United States. I think the size of what I ve seen in screens is more than enough to keep me occupied for a long time to come. A big map is not always fun if its not populated with people and things to do. JC2 had this prolem in spades remember.

 

Ill take quality over quantity any day. Quantity erodes by the wayside but Quality will stand the test of time.

I can put things in perspective though. Even if LS was half it's size, I'd still love GTA V and I'd still have fun in LS.

I know what they can do and I also know that limitations exist and are a real problem for every developer out there. Just look at IV. Because they wanted to make it on a completely new engine, limitations took effect on the amount of features the game had and the size.

Los Santos seems like it will be a perfectly reasonable size, I'm happy with how big and detailed it is right now (however that waits to be seen until I can actually have a look for myself), although I'm just a bit worried from what I've heard that there will just be loads of countryside and not enough city. I mean the countryside does sound appealing to get away from the usual annoyances of the city but I just don't want it to end up being really big and boring. 3.5x the size of Red Dead Redemption is all fine and good but if 3x of that is just countryside I will be a bit disappointed. In the end it's a bit difficult to decide without actually having seen it so I can only cross my fingers and hope Rockstar will do it right. They normally do. Normally.

when i first saw the map i thought LS was hella small, but after some comparisons made by some guys with the GTAIV map, i think its gonna be alright in terms on size (only the city of course), so yeah, I guess the city itself is gonna be huge, considering that theres also country side, desert, and even a submarine places to explore aswell

We haven't seen the full map. We've only seen a piece of it from the blueprint thing. There's also the fact that when Rockstar said how big it was, they included countryside and interiors. You guys are acting like you played the game and know for a fact that it's small. Also keep in mind all the previews that the journalists like CVG, and IGN said the map was big.

Equal to Liberty City in landmass (without the "rivers" between the islands). Some say it's slightly smaller, other say it's slightly bigger.

To be honest it's as big as I was expecting it to be. I'm not sure about others, but I find games with ridiculously large city maps very tedious and boring to get around. TC SOLA is a great example actually.

 

LA Noire also. While I love the game the map tedious. I mean how much bigger did some of you guys want it to be?

I think the map size will be great, full of content and not just empty. Also, I'm hoping for the map to be an island or a collection of islands, like GTA IV or SA, and not landlocked like RDR where the boundaries were unclimbable mountains/rocks.

What the hell? Since when did we get the full map? We've only seen some pieces from the blueprints, there might even be more to the city of Los Santos. Keep in mind Trevor lives out in the countryside, so there are obviously going to be small towns scattered about. We haven't seen the full countryside either.

 

Why is everyone acting like we've seen the full map? Regardless if there isn't much to the city of Los Santos, there could be tons of interiors.

According to calculations the size of LS is slightly smaller than LC, but then of course you aren't taking into account the size of the countryside, or underwater, etc. So we know the game as a whole is going to be bigger than GTA IV, so who cares? Is there anyone here who didn't buy GTA 4 because they thought the map looked too small? I kinda feel bad for you, if that's all you took out of my post. If you read it slowly, and calm yourself down first, you might notice I'm actually aware this thread is about the city size of LS compared to LC. All I'm saying is for anyone who's not going to buy the game because the city size is similar to LC, well that's a pretty pathetic reason to do so, when you've seen everything else this game has to offer. Did you not buy 4 either, because the map looked too small?
