Well then, I guess we can safely say the city meets the expectations of most GTA fans, I hope you guys are right.

man dragon dude no offense but GTA3 is bigger than Vice City!

Why would I take offence to that? It's just a difference in opinion. Vice City had a lot more open space than III, which makes it feel smaller if you're only considering the size of the city. Ocean Beach was gigantic, and Leaf Links golf course as well.

Los Santos is fine. I don't understand why everyone is so worried. I don't think it's small at all, and even if you do, it's going to feel huge when you're actually playing the game. Not to mention it's only one part of the whole map. I think too many of you are forgetting, it's not the size of the map that matters, it's all the things you can do in it. And this game will be loaded with content. Even then, the map is still going to be huge. A huge map with so many things to do. All this talk of disappointment baffles me. People actually saying they might not even buy the game because it looks small. That's ridiculous.

I hope so myself, but I get the feeling most of these guys are just saying that they are satisfied with size of Los Santos because :

* They are RDF members

* They are deep-down inside afraid that the map is really not that big, but they still wanna be stubborn just wanna blindly convince themselves that it is big.

* Some genuinely don't really care about the detailed and accurate, realistic video game representations of a city's size in GTA. (The kind of GTA players who mostly play the game to shoot and blow people and stuff up or for multiplayer).

* Some are not quite sure, but will just say they are satisfied anyway because they have good faith in Rockstar.

This poll will produce inaccurate results, but it's interesting nevertheless.

Nobody needs to reply to my comment, because I don't want this to turn ugly.

To those of you who claim to love countryside more then city, I don't understand the basis of your logic.

Are you going to rob a bank in the countryside?

Are you going to scale down a building and do a smash in grab, with a helicopter above, and friend on the other roof with a sniper rifle?

Are you going to customize your car at Bobby Joes farm?

Are you going to get your $1000 suit at Mama Abigail's Thrift Shop?

Are you going to lead a high speed chase down the Los Santos River in the countryside?

Are you going to Buy a Penthouse Suite complete with Helipad in the countryside?

The countryside will be a lot of fun.

Climbing, Hunting, Exploring, Rednecks, etc...

But 90% of the missions will be in the city.

This game is going to kick ass, but mostly because of the city.

If Vice City felt big to you, then i dunno what to tell you... whatsthat.gif

Compared to any other games I had played at that time, yeah it felt big to me, well big enough to feel like Miami

After playing GTA3, Vice City felt to me like a small lego city in comparison! bored.gif seriously...I liked Vice City after all no sh*t (the music, the culture and the general feel of the 80's, so greatly presented by R* in this game made up for the lacking city size...), but you should just admit city were small, you can't argue with that and yes! it FELT small too... bored.gif

man dragon dude no offense but GTA3 is bigger than Vice City!

I was 11 when i first played vice city. Felt big to me

If you didn't play GTA3, then yes! I understand how it could be the case, however if you did, then it seems very strange to me, since GTA3 is clearly bigger than Vice City! confused.gif

I know it's off topic, but III & VC playable area was actually about the same, with VC maybe having slightly more. Couldn't be bothered to make a map but here's a couple from elsewhere that are close enough:

Watch out, we got a badass over here.

I wasn't referring to this particular poll, but to the numerous posts on this forum of people complaining that it's too small. Just go look at the thread in the news section. Of course I don't literally mean "everyone", thought that was obvious. But there were a lot of unreasonable people in that thread.

People are basing their opinions on an image of a rolled up map? the scale is way off.

The map makes it look as small as Bohan.

Is that just me?

Compareing sunway lengths of the LS partial map with the IV map, you can see that both cities are more or less the same size, and with LS having more elevation around the edges, it means it's actually slightly bigger in real terms.

I like it. Its big enough! I think we should anyway be tired of the concrete jungle be be ready to be like, Andes Explorers with Mt Chilliad and sh*t. Gonna be crazy!

If (and I say IF) the City is the same size as LC then this map is simply enormous, but I think the Feeling of it being big and full of distractions is more important than being huge and empty

Comparing a bunch of things I can make out from the maps, this is may estimate of how big LS will be, just a little smaller than the main parts of LC.

And then compared to other GTA maps.

Still a little bit of Los Santos left to see but even now I think it's plenty big.

Happy with a smaller than expected city map that is not a true video game reflection of it's real-life counterpart ?

I guess some people are easily pleased.

First of all, I didn't expect a bigger city. Maybe you did, but I didn't. Secondly, I don't really care if it's slightly smaller than Liberty City. Really, LC was big, but at the same time it was quite boring (to me). So yeah, I'm happy like this. All I care about now is if there will be stuff to do.

You don't share my same opinion? Ok, fine. Just don't be a smartass wink.gif

He's not easily pleased.

You have freakishly high standards.

Did you whine as much when LC wasn't as big as NY?

Did you whine as much when LS in San Andreas wasn't as big LA?

Everyone here will be playing the game and having the time of their lives while you'll be sitting on your ass mumbling at how small the city is.

I'm fine because I set my expectations low for this game. I did that so I know I wouldn't be mad about the game.

Miss Darko

It's a little bit disappointing, it could have been a bit bigger without being unreasonable. That said, I've been used to the idea already for a long time, and Los Santos, while being the only major city in the game, isn't the only settlement in the game. We see what's likely to be a bit of a Malibu knock-off in the recently released map, there's Sandy Shores likely next to the Alamo Sea (and there appears to be a lot of buildings scattered around the lake), and an unknown town seen in this screenshot. There's also a lot of other little places, like that town along the highway with the restaurant with the missile sign. Add to that all the countryside in the game, and there's a lot to explore and a lot of variety. So I'm quite satisfied with the whole thing, and I'm sure that Los Santos alone will be quite nice to explore and rampage in. It looks fairly large in the screenshots even though the math says otherwise, and ultimately the 'feel' is what matters more when you're playing.

Null vote as it's hard to say without playing the game. From the screens the city looks small to me however the map itself looks massive. I really hope the city is bigger than it seems.

The same people saying they're happy with it being a little bit smaller than Liberty, will be the same ones to marvel when R* announces a bigger city for their next game. The point is these people will eat anything R* hands them. Typical RDF members.

p.s. I'm happy that they're thrilled, but don't try to insult my intelligence with sh*t like, "I never wanted a bigger city." F*ck outta here.

Who expected LS to be bigger than LC??? LC was a pretty massive virtual city. I'd be more than happy if it's anywhere close to as big as LC.

I think you guys should start considering that there's different points of view and opinions in the world, and start accepting them instead of saying "f*ck outta here".
