What's the point of having a electric car?

There were electrical cars in IV.

Confirmed, cars will need fuel in GTAIV.

There were no electric cars in IV smartass. For a car to be considered electric it would need electricity to run and I don't ever recall having to plug up a car to charge it up. If there is no electricity needed then how is it electric? Just bcuz the car model was made after a real electric car doesn't make it electric. When trying to be funny goes wrong. tounge2.gif

Maybe it will be harder to blow up since there is no combustion. It will be great for missions where you take a lot of shots.

Go lick another window buddy, the Prius in 4 was electric, as well as the golf carts.

your argument makes no sense. the cars that use fuel don't need to be filled up either, do they?

Why are people so rude to eachother?

Fuel would be the perfect addition to the game when an option such as "Realism Mode" was enabled. It is something people who roleplay really want, and besides... in Mafia 2 the cars would still move, just really slow.

Wouldn't be game breaking but also wouldn't add much to the game, I would enable it when messing about in the world

Only lazy ppl complain about having to do maintenance.

Again, I am not working a job, I'm playing a game. I don't see why I shouldn't be able to be lazy.

Oh and by the way, guess what they added to V. Regenerating health. And you can easily get more ammo by walking over the dead bodies of your enemies.

Yes, maintenance is necessary in reality. That doesn't mean people enjoy it. We only deal with it because we have to. Not because we want to. Do you really think people look forward to getting gas, shopping for food, and washing dishes? No. They don't. And if they do, they don't need a video game to simulate it because they can get jobs where they do that all day.

I really do hate the "Lazy gamer" complaint. Chores are never a necessary part of the game. Never. They're purely a design choice. And maybe they work for other games. But not GTA. You don't have to buy ammo if you know where to look. You don't have to get food often if you avoid enough bullets. Food is an optional healing mechanic. Fuel is something you'd have to constantly deal with if you like driving cars. And the game is not called Grand Theft Bike, dude.

HEAR ME OUT!

What if the electric car is the only vehicle that can actually run out of "fuel". That way everyone's happy! You wan't a game where you have to refuel your car every 15 minutes? Drive the electric car all game, go to the "charging station" to get it filled up. & for the people who don't see the need for gas in vehicles, just keep playing as you've always been.

Racecar, I fear you may have an aneurism by the days end, give it up and relax, people are just too f*cking retarded to argue with them.

Go to sleep tonight knowing Rockstar wouldn't do this to us, or their precious money maker.

Lol @ Racecar even arguing on the YouTube comments on that gas pumping video.

He is a bit inadequate. Look at his profile.

Also I laughed at his attempts to argue with author of this video, who doesn't give a slightest f*ck about games.

And he continues to prove something to this man. It's like to stop random man on the street and start to prove something to him about GTA.

Like I said, he is inadequate

I'm sorry, why are people trying to make me look like the deluded one for not wanting to do a tedious chore in a video game?

What's next? Mowing the lawn? Doing taxes? Washing dishes? Where does it end?

The only delusional people here are those morons who want gas and other bullsh*t.

At this point, 'go play the sims' is widely acceptable, want to live virtual real life? Go play the f*cking sims!!

But again, as I stated last page, Rockstar wouldn't destroy their most successful series, so nothing to worry about.

Not really....San Andreas had Hunger, and it turned out great.

@Racecarlock, Nub for using cheats before beating game.

Yes, dude, we are all very aware that the game is called Grand Theft Auto, so everyone in this thread would appreciate if you stopped confusing it with Grand Theft Bike, as that is not the name, and is slander. Thank you.

As for your second point, I for one have no idea why you mention Food and dishes, that

topic is so irrelevant it is not even funny. Sure, I understand where your'e coming from, but if you are content with going to buy your weapons back every time you die, or loading the saved game again, why not divert about 20 in game minutes to getting gas?

When you get arrested in Gta, and lose all your gats, no one ever flips out and rapes the game through the diskhole, they just accept their loss, and go buy some more stuff, Or load their game.

There are already annoyances in the game that makes it realistic, one more isn't going to kill the game. smile.gif

I SHADOWFOX I

I don't get why you guys are bashing racecar, he's right it'd be a chore.

There's no other way around it. If you DO want the gas feature then good for you but regardless of your stance on the issue, it'd still be a chore to have to go and be FORCED to fill up. ( I don't see rockstar giving us a optional realism mode to toggle this feature on or off )

But I for one am in the middle, whatever rockstar does I trust them its for the best, so don't start bashing me for voicing my opinion, but really to the guys who WANT the feature, I have a question for you....

If you want the fuel feature, do you want a car wash feature as well? How about mileage on cars? I'm just being honest, if you are approaching this argument saying that it adds to the realism, then you cannot say you don't want these other "realistic" features aka chores that are required to keep your cars in optimal condition.

Some people have difficulty accepting that not everyone agrees with them. Therefore anyone who doesn't agree with them must be an asshole or a troll. Or both.

No, it won't kill the game. But it will make the game more tedious. And this time, it won't be for a good reason. I understand eating to heal. I understand buying ammo. If they gave you infinite from the beginning it would be too easy.

But fuel is not necessary or desirable. It just isn't. Using gas as a weapon. Fine. Buying stations as a business. Great. Filling up the car? Hell no. Maybe it won't break the game, but it'll add an unnecessary annoyance. This game does not need unnecessary annoyances.

Also, I don't like the "One more wouldn't hurt" argument. See, if this gets through because of that, next comes mowing the lawn because "One more wouldn't hurt". Then dishwashing. Then taking out the trash. Then shaving. And soon the game is so full of annoyances that I quit and play batman instead, because the dark knight does not make me wait for gas tanks to fill up.

Am I exaggerating? Sure I am. But I still maintain that this is not a necessary or fun feature. It just isn't.

State of Decay had planned to do something like this and add fuel consumption to cars. They ultimately decided against it, as they didn't want players to be stranded in the middle of nowhere and have to walk all the way to their home base which would be tedious considering the map is decently huge in that game.

I feel like the same kind of tediousness would appear in GTA V if they did implemented fuel. I understand the appeal it would have for some people, as it probably would add more realism and challenge to the game. But I feel many others (myself included) would find it more frustrating than challenging. That's the way I see it anyways.

The question that comes to my mind is:

What the point having an electric car, as a bonus content ?

A sports car, a monster truck, a customised chopper, a hot rod. Those would be nice bonus content. But an electric car ? really ? Come on...

So, if there is a point to this, it could be about the fact it's electric. But I can't really imagine we'll have to refuel our cars. It's quite lame. I remember the first Mafia. It was useless. It was very rare to be in a situation when you had to refuel. Sometimes you could get bullet throught the gas tank and then you loose the fuel. That was funny but then you just take another car or your game was over because you couldn't escape.

If R* did implement fuel into GTA V then here are a few things that imo could make it work.

1. It should be OPTIONAL whether you want to have fuel on or not. In every previous gta whenever you entered a vehicle for the 1st time, on-screen instructions popup that told you what buttons to press to accelerate, brake/reverse, honk the horn etc... well after the obligatory car operating how-to, they should highlight the fuel gauge, tell you that it drains as you drive, that you need to refuel your vehicle every so often, yada yada yada, and then that you have the OPTION TO TURN THAT FEATURE OFF by going to the settings and turning it off, once you do the cars have unlimited fuel and work like they have in every prior GTA , so those who don't want to use fuel aren't forced to.

2.Only land vehicles(cars, trucks, SUV's etc...) have the fuel gauge, planes/jets, helicopters, boats, subs, tanks(if they make it into the game) and other non-car vehicles should have unlimited fuel as always. Let's face it you can't just drive a boat to a floating Chevron station, or a take a tank to the Exxon up the street, yes these vehicles get refilled IRL and R* could implement those into the game, but baby steps first. My apologies to those you who would luv to do mid-air refueling in a military jet, maybe in VI biggrin.gif

3. All vehicles that use fuel start with a 100% FULL TANK, realistic? hardly, but think about this, when you have a 4 or 5 star wanted level in GTA and half the police force/Noose/military is after you a lot less civilian vehicles spawn, so say you finally come across a car, and it's the only thing that's keeping you from being shredded by assault weapons, as well as your only chance of escape, how much would it suck if it had only a smidgeon of gas left and you had to abandon it and look for a new car to steal after only a block or two? That was just one example, there are many other scenarios where grabbing a car only to find it's almost dry would be a pain, especially during one of those "catch-up to and kill this guy" missions that seems to populate all GTA's.

4. Purchasing fuel should be a easy and seamless endeavor. All gas stations should work sort of like the carwash in IV, you pull into the arrow marker next to a gasoline pump, you then can cycle thru and decide if you want to purchase a 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or a full tank of gas with their varying prices, make your selection, and then a short animated sequence occurs (which you can skip if you choose), and wha-la your car is refueled. For a added bonus, some gas stations are enterable and you have the option to pay for your gas at the counter in a similar manner, step into the arrow marker, choose how much gas you want etc....., so you have your gas, but you're not done yet, you decide to re-enter the station and rob the place devil.gif Now I know what you're all thinking, well if I can rob the place, why not just steal the gas instead of paying for it?, well for the same reason Niko didn't/couldn't steal clothes from the various clothing stores after he pointed a gun at, shot, or generally started trouble within the stores in IV, so if you want to get gas and rob the place 'fill er up" 1st and then rob 2nd tounge.gif

5. A full tank should take about 5-6 in game days to completely run dry, so refueling wouldn't be a constant need, and you would be able to store a gas canister in your trunk incase you are far in between gas stations.

Those are just some of my thoughts on the fuel concept being in V, I personally wouldn't mind it if R* included that feature, (I think I could have fun with it at times) but there would be times where I wouldn't want to use that feature and would want the option to turn it off, and also there are many, many, many other players who don't want to use fuel ever, so if wouldn't be fair to those who never want to use it to be forced to.
