What's the point of having a electric car?

I'm guessing the engine will make a different noise.

Do you really want to sit through this?

No, don't skip it, watch it. Then when you're done, watch it again and again and again. Why? Because that is what that'll add to the game. It could take six years to run out and that wouldn't matter to me, because you still have to sit through that or lose your favorite car to the desert that everyone apparently loves running out of gas in.

Seriously, keep watching this video. Ask yourself if you really want this.

"But health and armor and ammo and stuff!"

And yet you want yet another annoying thing to keep track of on top of that and you want everyone else to deal with that extra annoying thing. I just don't get it. Sure, uninhibited fantasy can be boring, as dick valor told me, but fantasy that's too inhibited can be boring as well.

You know if fuel was included it would probably take 5-15 seconds to refuel depending on the size of the vehicle.

Not 4 minutes 20 seconds.

I don't care. It still wastes time that I could be wasting doing something way cooler and way more fun. I don't enjoy refueling. I like roller coasters, airplanes, driving fast, smashing cars for fun, and extreme sports. I don't enjoy sitting at a gas pump. It could literally take a second and I would still consider that time wasted, especially since I still would have to drive to the station and park the car. I shouldn't even have to use a cheat for this. This is not a necessary addition. It is not a fun one. Screw this kind of realism. If a pedestrian is going to use more lines when talking to someone or is going to do more things real people do, that's fine. But getting gas is not fun. It has never been fun. Ask anyone who drives a real car.

racecarlock mark my words:

"fuel/refueling cars WILL BE in GTA V."

and i'm looking forward to read ragin' threads made by you after september 17th!

i think its a logical addition to the vibrant economy V is supposed to have

and it will also add to the immersion of the game.

u act like its the worst thing that could ever happen to the GTA franchise!

if R* decided to not put it in the game its not a big deal to me, but i know

if refueling makes it into V u'll be mad bro! and that kinda makes me happy xD

Why do people look forward to spending money on mundane bullsh*t? When I think about a fun economy, I think sports cars and mansions and planes and weapons and black market military vehicles. I don't like budgeting in real life, and there's no possible way it'll be fun in a game.

And if you really want to see rage that badly, look up the angry german kid on youtube. That'll satisfy you way more than I ever could.

I agree with racecarlock, I wanna spend my money on sports cars and weapons not on f*cking fuel -.-

There's a general rule when it comes to features like this. "Do/would I enjoy this in real life?". That's pretty much it. And if the answer is no, then it should either be an optional feature or just not in the game.

I love going to amusement parks in real life, so obviously I love Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, No Limits Coaster Simulator, and Thrillville. In real life, I have never enjoyed getting gas. Never. And I have a service guy do it. I tried it once in a mafia II demo one time. Didn't like it there either.

This is pretty simple when you think about it. Do you enjoy cleaning toilets, paying bills, doing taxes, getting fuel, paying traffic tickets, washing the dishes, mowing the lawn, and sitting in jail in real life? If not, then I don't think it should be part of a video game.

Hell, I have proof of this theory working too. Do you enjoy taking out the trash? If not, then you'll absolutely hate garbage truck simulator 2011.

Speaking of which, that game also has fuel and traffic laws in it. I know it's a long video, but trust me, the traffic laws annoy the sh*t out of this guy. As they would me. I dealt with traffic laws in mafia II and I don't want to see GTA get infected by that.

Well put, f*ck gas

Fuel? No, no, please no. Just imagine how much this would this would break the flow of the game, and all the anti-climatic moments it would add because of Murphy's Law. Escaping from police? No fuel. Gonna drive to Mt. Chilliad and enjoy the view? Ha, f*ck you, ran out of gas halfway there. Five star wanted level? Fighter jet goes dry and crashes mid flight, killing you instantly.

See what I mean?

Besides, that would be such a drain on the account seeing as how gas prices would be massive for satire's sake. If there's fuel I'm biking every where. Yeah, bikes.

There's nothing fun about it. Yet people want me to have to do it. (...)

I've seen people argue against it even being optional. (...)

(...) apparently I should be forced to role play because others wanted to role play.

I want another san andreas. On RAGE. And I can't just mod IV because I don't have IV PC because this is not a gaming PC. (...)

(...) I don't want to give up on GTA just because someone else wanted virtual gas. I don't. That's why I fight. Because I don't want to play SR2 for the rest of my life.

u just can't stand the thought some people might enjoy immersive features like that and u cant stop trying to convince anybody how boring fuel is and how it would be gamebraking and overall the worst possible feature for the GTA franchise ever!

u talk about people forcing smthn up on u but all u say is "i want i want i want"

only cuz u dont have the chance of modding IV to ur likeliness anybody should be like u, bashing in every idea thats too far away from the style of previous GTA's and be happy with a SA hd remake?!

and dont act like "i'd be cool with it if it would be optional"

NO! just deal with it when R* shapes their game like they want and not how u would like it!

making something like this optional just isnt the way to go if u create a game anyway!

and the fact u say u dont want to give up on GTA and u dont want to play SR2 for the rest of ur life implies that the fuel thing would be so much of a gamebreaker for u that would actually ditch the game?! if thats true (i know its not) ur not a real fan of the series anyway and should really go with SR2!

i can understand people not beeing comfortable with the thought of refueling but ur narrow-minded, *spoiled child wants things his way or not at all* like behavior is just annoying...

OT:

the best idea i heard regarding the refueling issue was to use it only for the nitro boost of the cars i just cant find anything wrong with it...

that way it would bring a purpose to gas and gas stations other than arsoning,

it would add to the economy and the puprose of money

and most important it would add to the immersion of the game!

even if the running out of gas scenario (which i think is fun cuz all of the possibilities what could resolve out of a situation like this) would be missing i'd be okay with that...

tbh it wouldnt bother me if fuel would not be in V, but im pretty sure it will be and september 17th when racecarlock finds out fuel is in V, rages and goes full retard on the forums i'll be there to laugh xD

The game is going to have electric cars?

It's part of one of the editions. SHOCKING I know. tounge.gif

Yeah, it's a bit surprising, too bad I'll be getting the standard edition.

I have a question, the ones who are going to buy the standard edition, will they ever receive the exclusive content? Never?

I don't really like this all DLC bullsh*t. At least R* shouldn't have bothered with the in-game content. I don't remember any exclusive in-game content in any of the editions of GTA IV, I could be wrong though.

No it doesn´t "confirm" anything. People need to stop throwing this expression around about this and that. Just because you spot something in a trailer or interprets a statement in some weird way, does not mean that something is confirmed.

By that childish logic of yours, then everything we've seen including the ENTIRETY of the game, is just a hoax.

I think what he's saying is that literally any time there is even a slightest hint to something being true, everyone always asks "IS THIS CONFIRMED? CONFIRMED. HAS IT BEEN CONFIRMED????///??"

Look at it this way, in San An we had car washes but could never use them. In GTA IV we do. And we have cheat codes that make Pay and Spray redundant but we still use it, because it is there.

Because the gas station is there I want to drive up, honk the horn and have a hot babe come out and pump the gas circa "Vanishing Point". Or drive up into a station, fill it up, ( as if it really needs it ) and drop into the station to buy some grub ( like I really need it ).

GTA IV had restaurants and fast food joints and cart vendors. And because they were there, well you know the drill.

If it is there we should be able to use it. Doesn't mean we need to or have to but we should be able to use it. It doesn't even need to be an option, just there, like the fast food joints and the car wash.

Goes with that park bench I want to sit at. I don't want my character just standing there while I.......

Wait up, gotta get a cup a jo.

They said electric car so that way any eco freaks can rest comfortably knowing that the game world inside GTA is somewhat eco friendly and the air in the game won't be polluted. suicidal.gif

Either that or Al Gore paid Rockstar money to include eco friendly elements into the game. Maybe there won't be any trash cans, they will all be replaced with recycle bins, and so on. *smh* Going green... the most laughable excuse for companies to cut corners in production value and costs, twisting it to appeal to customers, usually charging more.

Cars will not run out fuel because it just won't work.

Otherwise you would have to able to go buy a jerry can of gas 2 miles up the road on foot and return to your car that you modded (which we all know will be gone) to get it going again. This would be boring and stupid. Adding electric is because, big shocker, cars are going electric today. Some electric cars are even cool and in the super car category, some are lame.

And in previous GTA's you can take an electric golf cart with unlimited range and drive forever, so confirmed gay gas stops... no. Not going to happen.

Sure to make fun of it if your car runs out of gas in a story mission, that'd be funny and the dialog just sets itself up nicely. But as a game mechanic? Hell no.

The Khameleon electric car is probably available to everyone in SP, you just have one (possibly customized) at a garage online as default. If it looks cool it (or another electric car) might be my car of choice after customizing.

The game Mafia did fuel extremely well. It rarely became a problem during missions but it was there, sometimes you'd get into a vehicle low on fuel and others we're full. Filling up required you to just pull up to the garage and the assistant would fill it up for you. Though this was based in the 50's.

But mafia is not GTA. Mafia has way smaller maps and the game is linear.

Also, I could suggest many, many things that worked in SR2, arkham city, just cause 2, and many more. That does not mean it would fit GTA. The grappling hooks from Arkham City and Just Cause 2 were awesome. But they wouldn't work in GTA. Shooting aliens with a space ship worked in galaga. Doesn't mean it would work in GTA.

As far as I'm concerned, mafia and mafia II are not sandbox games. They're wearing the masks of sandbox games, but in reality their free roaming elements matter about as much as the free roaming elements in Battlefront 2. GTA and mafia are far apart in terms of many things.

Again, getting gas is not fun in real life. It won't be fun in a game. Using gas to light fires? Buying a station, walking in and telling the workers "You're my bitches now"? I can get behind those. But sitting at a gas pump, waiting for a tank to fill, even if it doesn't take long, is still a waste of my time. Even using a cheat for it which would take a second after entering in the cell phone would STILL be a waste of time. Time I could have spent flying a jet, drifting, buying more businesses, ATV Racing, Dirt biking, surfing, mountain climbing, exploring the ocean, and lots of other things. Time does have to be budgeted like that in the real world. But this is not the real world. It's a game, and I don't see why I should be wasting my time doing mundane chores that already bother me in real life.

Relax children, if r* is going to put powerful electric cars in the game, they are not going to make them exactly like combustion engine cars. This does not say anything about refuelling though.

If the cars need to be refueled, it won't take long. Why? Well, none of the previous games had long brakes from the actual playing. Think about sleeping, eating and drinking in IV. They did not last long. This is what you should expect. The points of having refueling would be:

1. to make you aware how much of the stuff we are using every day (true)

2. how oil companies rule your world by funding the politicians that aid their cause (true)

3. how oil used to be cheaper than milk, and is not anymore (true)

4. how oil is polluting our air and water (true)

5. how it's ridiculous to drive an electric car, because it makes less noise (sarcasm)

6. how electric cars are not more environmental, because they require more windmills (sarcasm)

7. how windmills are a form of laundring cash (true, but rediculous at the same time, just read about the mafia doing this)

8. how you don't mind the oil companies advertising heavily, because they remind you that you have to fill up (true)

The points of not having it:

1. we never had it before, and we fear change (true)

2. we don't trust r*, because previously they have made tedious games, so it's likely they would botch it up somehow (sarcasm)

It's not the same thing! You don't automatically run out of health if you sprint!

Rockstar did have hunger in GTA SA though. Know what I do every time I start up the game? Turn on no hunger with a bunch of other cheats. But I don't see why I should have to waste my time using a cheat like that when the chore is not necessary in the first place.

And you can easily get out of most engagements with most of your health and ammo if you're skilled enough. Hell, you can also just run over medical kits if you're in a hurry. But you can avoid losing health. The only way you could possibly avoid using fuel would be to bike everywhere. And screw that. I like sports cars.

sh*t, do you know why real electric cars are being made in the first place? Because nobody likes getting gas. Nobody. At least with food in real life, you can taste it and get some entertainment out of it. Getting gas in real life always sucks. It's never enjoyable.

I don't even see why I should have to use a gas cheat.
