Diversity.

What about diversity? How does it relate to this discussion? Please explain.

I'm guessing the engine will make a different noise.

Do you really want to sit through this?

No, don't skip it, watch it. Then when you're done, watch it again and again and again. Why? Because that is what that'll add to the game. It could take six years to run out and that wouldn't matter to me, because you still have to sit through that or lose your favorite car to the desert that everyone apparently loves running out of gas in.

Seriously, keep watching this video. Ask yourself if you really want this.

"But health and armor and ammo and stuff!"

And yet you want yet another annoying thing to keep track of on top of that and you want everyone else to deal with that extra annoying thing. I just don't get it. Sure, uninhibited fantasy can be boring, as dick valor told me, but fantasy that's too inhibited can be boring as well.

Bro shut the f*ck up seriously fuel isn't even confirmed so why you trippin just chill relax and take a hit of the bong

Yo shut up, he's making a valid point which clearly you don't understand so back off and stop trying to create a fight.

I do understand and I'm not trying to stat a fight you know some people on these forums are mature but at the same every single thread I see this guy is on it saying f*ck gas and those who want it I personally don't think it will be in and don't care if it's I'm just sayin stop stressin over something that's most likely not in nor is confirmed

I want another san andreas. On RAGE.

With all due respect racecarlock, I think the thing is with you is that you can't accept that R* have moved on from the cartoony, more light hearted III era. The HD universe is more grounded, less silly and outlandish and yes, more realistic. Perhaps the 'next gen era' will return to that SA nature, but right now you will have to put up with GTAV as being a more colourful and diverse GTAIV. Fuel will never happen though, I would put money on it.

More grounded and less silly? Did you not see the screenshots of our main guys holding mini guns? Or how about that one of michael in a fighter jet? And what about the slow motion and rage strength super powers?

Are you sure you're talking about the same game? I don't mind a bit of serious, but this game does not look very serious. At all.

This game isn't as serious as IV, yes, but it is serious to an extent. It's 10x more serious than SA and more realistic but at the same time it's vibrant and fun. And what super powers? If you are talking about the abilities, how on earth are they super powers?

Could it be that just maybe it's specifically electric ingame because the car/cars it's based on in real

life is an electric super car?

Rockstar is good at making real cars into parodies. They try to be true to life

as they can while adding their own flavor. (Well they have to, but thats a diff. story)

I actually really do want fuel in a gta game but there's been no other substantial evidence.

Pretty sure it's based off the

Fisker Karma: (possibly one other too) ...Different but similar...

1. The minigun is not that unrealistic tbh. Stuff like that does exist, just not really used by the military (and before you come in and say jetpacks, look at the bottom) but yeah probably the most unrealistic so far.

2. Michael flying a jet - so, what's the alternative? 'No sorry Michael is an old man wearing a suit he can't fly that, please switch to Trevor'. Besides, neither Michael nor Franklin can fly planes at the start like Trevor can.

3. 'Special abilities' are player controlled mechanisms, and have nothing to do with the characters. It's not like Trevor himself is activating rage mode, or Michael is consciously slowing down time. It's no different from the HUD, or pause menu. No relevance to the characters themselves. And besides, Max Payne 3 and RDR granted you the same ability as Michael, and those were two very serious games (hint hint racecarlock, Dan Houser likes writing serious games these days).

But all this is irrelevant - I am talking about the overall themes of the game. If GTAIV was Goodfellas then GTAV is Pulp Fiction. Both 'serious' and realistic gangster films, the latter being slightly less dark and a tad more outlandish. And this may be where you and I differ, but I am not getting III era vibes from GTAV's trailers AT ALL. I can promise you that we will not be stealing alien goo from a moving train using a jetpack in this game, so don't get hopeful.

I really dont think there will be fuel in the game. I checked every screen and noticed that no car has filler caps. So where do you want to fill the fuel in? ^^ Its just like in GTA IV.

I can go along with pulp fiction. As long as there's more julius pitt and less babysitting overdosing mob wives.

I would definitely settle for it, but I'm calling it now, Tracy will OD and as Michael we will have to drive her to the hospital.

Nine years later AND THIS IS STILL coming up and being discussed as if Rockstar is going to do it. I really can't see their stance changing from what it was in 2004.

Cars needing refueling and running out of gas is not fun.

Beyond that it can screw with the immersion factor given the scaling and illusion of size that Rockstar uses leaving it in X gallons at Y MPG with real world numbers would lead you to ever really needing to refuel once for most vehicles without a lot of driving the same car and scaling it to work within the world would make it annoying.

I'm no fan. When I played Mafia II, I thought it was a cool feature.. But once the tank went empty during a car chase, I went from love to hate faster than an A-Bomb. If they were to put this in it better be optional because that crap will rail you up the rear at the worst possible time.

They should never add fuel to the game, but you should be able to stop at gas stations and have *some cars that can use either kind* pumped with high test or something and make your car 10% better acceleration or something. That would be cool for a special attribute to some cars. Let you pump gas for other cars, but they take either their normal regular or super or mid grade, with no effects to changing to some better fuel. Something small and stupid like that for the excuse to let the gas stations work, like the car washes and pay and sprays/shops do.

I wouldn't mind having to refuel my vehicles. I'd love to be driving from the cops then run out of gas and have to hop out, run and find another getaway car. It'd add a lot more tension to the cop chases smile.gif. Most won't agree but I just think it'd be cool.

Does this actually confirm that the cars will need fuel?

Not at all. Could just be a Fancie name for the car, mean the car goes faster or any number of reasons but refueling your car isn't one of them.

You know if fuel was included it would probably take 5-15 seconds to refuel depending on the size of the vehicle.

Not 4 minutes 20 seconds.

I don't care. It still wastes time that I could be wasting doing something way cooler and way more fun. I don't enjoy refueling. I like roller coasters, airplanes, driving fast, smashing cars for fun, and extreme sports. I don't enjoy sitting at a gas pump. It could literally take a second and I would still consider that time wasted, especially since I still would have to drive to the station and park the car. I shouldn't even have to use a cheat for this. This is not a necessary addition. It is not a fun one. Screw this kind of realism. If a pedestrian is going to use more lines when talking to someone or is going to do more things real people do, that's fine. But getting gas is not fun. It has never been fun. Ask anyone who drives a real car.

Why do people look forward to spending money on mundane bullsh*t? When I think about a fun economy, I think sports cars and mansions and planes and weapons and black market military vehicles. I don't like budgeting in real life, and there's no possible way it'll be fun in a game.

And if you really want to see rage that badly, look up the angry german kid on youtube. That'll satisfy you way more than I ever could.

If a pedestrian is going to use more lines when talking to someone or is going to do more things real people do, that's fine. But getting gas is not fun. It has never been fun. Ask anyone who drives a real car.

"fuel/refueling cars WILL BE in GTA V."

and i'm looking forward to read ragin' threads made by you after september 17th!

i think its a logical addition to the vibrant economy V is supposed to have

and it will also add to the immersion of the game.

u act like its the worst thing that could ever happen to the GTA franchise!

if R* decided to not put it in the game its not a big deal to me, but i know

if refueling makes it into V u'll be mad bro! and that kinda makes me happy xD

The gas and oil industry is a major part of the world's economy - which is something they can easily take jabs at. They could make it so that you would be able to buy those gasstations to profit from. A vibrant economy goes both ways, you know it isn't all sports cars, jets and so forth. With that said I hope V will have fuel and other expenses alike.

I agree with racecarlock, I wanna spend my money on sports cars and weapons not on f*cking fuel -.-

There's a general rule when it comes to features like this. "Do/would I enjoy this in real life?". That's pretty much it. And if the answer is no, then it should either be an optional feature or just not in the game.

I love going to amusement parks in real life, so obviously I love Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, No Limits Coaster Simulator, and Thrillville. In real life, I have never enjoyed getting gas. Never. And I have a service guy do it. I tried it once in a mafia II demo one time. Didn't like it there either.

This is pretty simple when you think about it. Do you enjoy cleaning toilets, paying bills, doing taxes, getting fuel, paying traffic tickets, washing the dishes, mowing the lawn, and sitting in jail in real life? If not, then I don't think it should be part of a video game.

Hell, I have proof of this theory working too. Do you enjoy taking out the trash? If not, then you'll absolutely hate garbage truck simulator 2011.

Speaking of which, that game also has fuel and traffic laws in it. I know it's a long video, but trust me, the traffic laws annoy the sh*t out of this guy. As they would me. I dealt with traffic laws in mafia II and I don't want to see GTA get infected by that.

I don't mind buying the gas stations as a business. I don't mind gas being used as a weapon in the world. I don't mind any of that sh*t.

It's having to stop and get gas for your car that I don't like the idea of. Weaponized gas and buying up gas stations is fine. Having to spend my money and time waiting at a gas pump is just tedious busywork.
