What's the point of having a electric car?

The CE does contain the high-end Khamelion electric car, but what would be the point of a having a electric car, if there's no fuel? Does this actually confirm that the cars will need fuel?

Being able to jump into any car at any time and driving it for as long as you want without worrying about refueling it has been a staple of GTA since it's incarnation. Changing that would be game breaking in my opinion.

I just assume that anyone who says they want fuel in GTA cars is a stupid teenager. Anyone who could actually drive a car would know better.

 

And the point of having an electric car is that electric cars are a thing, so R*'s gonna put some in the game. That's it. They'll probably have a different engine sound (as in, almost none), so if you want to cruise up PCH at night while listening to Nightride FM but not have the roar of the engine, steal an electric car.

I doubt it confirms fuel in the game.

 

It will just mean it will drive differently compared to other cars. I've never driven an electric car but I assume it would feel different. For example acceleration would be faster because the power goes straight to the wheels and it will be pretty much silent. Just things like that will be the difference.

 

I wouldn't mind having to fill/charge up cars in the game. It would add a new element to gameplay. There are many ways they could work around it to make it fun. Make filling/charging times unrealistic (a few seconds) or have them fully fill up when you stop in a certain spot (garage/parking spot). Also the tank/charge will last much longer and you'll get a warning when it has only so many more miles left allowing you to find a garage or a new car.

Even if they added gas it wouldn't be anything like this. Mafias took like what, 20 sec to fill up and a lot of driving to even get to half full, not 4+ min to fill up and one trip around the map. I'm sure if they did add it in it would be as an option, which i would enable because i know consumption would be much slower than in real life, and maybe gas would also be restored if parking in safe house spaces.

I know there was that houser quote where the team told him to stop kidding around when he asked about fuel in GTA IV.

 

Thing is, so many people are asking for it that although no previews have explicitly stated a fuel feature, I'm still afraid.

 

This isn't the only bullsh*t realistic thing people have asked for. People have asked for traffic laws, jail on every bust, the return of hunger, and even f*cking house bills. I feel that if I budge on this, these people will be emboldened to make more and more requests. And then soon GTA wouldn't even resemble GTA anymore. It would have the name GTA, but you'd have to follow traffic laws or deal with police, feed your guy, get gas, go to the bathroom, make sure you pay your taxes on time, exchange insurance information on every crash, go to court before being sentenced to jail, and sit in bed for an hour real time every time you get killed/wasted.

 

I know all of that probably won't happen, but even without all that happening, I just don't find getting fuel fun. Because it isn't fun. Nobody who drives in real life finds getting gas fun. Hell, I don't drive in real life and I still don't think getting gas would be fun.

No no no! You can't go around making options for every little feature people can't agree on. The options list would be huge and be filled with worthless things.

 

I've said it before. Anyone who wants gas in GTA is a pre-pubescent little kid who has a driving fantasy, and the only way to fulfill that is by wanting it as close to real life as possible. They want to do gas because it makes them feel like they are old enough to actually drive. There is no other reason why anyone would want this in the game. It's pointless and would ruin any fun. If anyone wants to pump gas so badly, come over and do mine for me so I don't have to tomorrow.

 

This is the area where pretending comes into play. You can pretend your car needs gas, go to the station get out and pretend to fill it up. But you CAN'T pretend your car doesn't have gas when it does.

Just grab an egg timer, set it to half hour or whatever, and then every time you get to a gas station stop inside and reset the egg timer to 30 minutes.

 

If the timer dings, you have to ditch the car.

 

And bringing up Mafia isn't a very solid argument. I NEVER ran out of gas in mafia, never filled up my tank either. It was a pointless mechanic in that game, and the only reason it worked was because the game auto filled your vehicle after every mission.
