VIPΣR
The CE does contain the high-end Khamelion electric car, but what would be the point of a having a electric car, if there's no fuel? Does this actually confirm that the cars will need fuel?
Racecarlock
I'm guessing the engine will make a different noise. Do you really want to sit through this? No, don't skip it, watch it. Then when you're done, watch it again and again and again. Why? Because that is what that'll add to the game. It could take six years to run out and that wouldn't matter to me, because you still have to sit through that or lose your favorite car to the desert that everyone apparently loves running out of gas in. Seriously, keep watching this video. Ask yourself if you really want this. "But health and armor and ammo and stuff!" And yet you want yet another annoying thing to keep track of on top of that and you want everyone else to deal with that extra annoying thing. I just don't get it. Sure, uninhibited fantasy can be boring, as dick valor told me, but fantasy that's too inhibited can be boring as well.

Patriot_Action
Does this actually confirm that the cars will need fuel? No. Does it preclude it? No. I suggest you avoid starting this discussion again though. Not sure what the hype is about electric cars. Most of them drive (and sound) like golf carts. DS 17
I would only drive these cars, because I don't want to support the ingame air pollution. No, ehm ... but I would love if we need fuel. That would add so much realism and imagine you have to fuel somewhere in the countryside. I'd love that. Roadtrips would start!
douggoud
We did have a Prius like car in IV, and we didn't have fuel, so I seriously doubt it, the noise will be the only difference I'm sure.

Because it's not like you can just let go of the trigger and pretend your out of gas, no, we need a f*ckin' arbitrary mechanic to force it on everyone. How about we just make pedestrians and police act like real people and real police and dress accordingly for their locations so that the locations seem more alive? That seems like a better use of realism to me.

Audiophile
There's an observatory in V. Does this mean I can map out the stars and then travel into space? It must be. GlitzyTomb
Dammit Rockstar I don't want to go to space. It's going to cut back on the size of the ghetto. Damn you Rockstar. I'm cancelling my preorder.

Myrskalle
No it doesn´t "confirm" anything. People need to stop throwing this expression around about this and that. Just because you spot something in a trailer or interprets a statement in some weird way, does not mean that something is confirmed.
DODI3OG
@Patriot_Action Fuels will ad immersion into GTA V. Steal a fuel-powered car with 3/4 of its energy left, then you're sure to get screwed than stealing and driving a much efficient electric car - w/ only 1/4 of its energy left, will surely last you a trip around the map. @Ermac_ I'm assuming you're a Need For Speed or a Forza Motorsports fan by the way you post and not a REAL sports car owner. I'm sure you're the type of kid who searches google for car sounds because you can't even afford or drive one.

Same reason the Tesla Roadster was included in NFS Most Wanted (2012), different car stats and engine sound. There's no fuel system in that game either. And in irl electric cars have to be charged too (if not run by a generator). What, you thought they were nuclear-powered? Remember in GTA TBoGT there were electrically powered golf buggies too. More likely it's an additional, more interesting, new car Rockstar wants to introduce to the high and more "environmentally-conscious" society living in Vinewood. I can totally see those parodies in GTA V's TV networks.
jamieleng
Hollywood & the 'forward thinking' people of LA love to pretend like they are leading the world in saving Mother Earth. There was a Prius parody in IV, there's an electric car parody in V. Nothing more, nothing less. Hopefully there's a Tesla Roadster type sports car too. S1LV3R_W0LF
I don't think this confirms cars needing fuel, but i'ts a good tip. I mean the main point of the game is money and it's based in real life crisis, so what is one of the biggest problem nowadays? Yes FUEL, the OIL market, it's more and more expensive everyday, so yah it would make perfect sense.

Rjeev142
My guess is that by electric car, they mean a car like Tesla, which is a real life electric car. So the kamelion, is essentially the gta version of the tesla roadster.
GlitzyTomb
Maybe instead of going vroom vroom it'll go buzzzz buzzzzz. Also you can drive in the Car Pool lane, so that's nice.

BlackNoise
Because they feel and sound very different. Fast electric cars are weird as f*ck. They're quiet, heavy, and have fast acceleration and an incredible amount of torque. It would be interesting if R* went all the way with the handling/physics and did something like the SLS Electric Drive. Torque vectoring and the use of negative torque would be fun to play around with. A car like that would probably need it's own AI if done properly. This is a good example...
