Durden Posted May 24, 2013 Share Posted May 24, 2013 Judging by the intense speed of jets from the footage we've seen, as well as carefully observing the full city of LS in the News Section Thread, I think that with the Fighter Jet we will be able to fly from one side of LS to the other in 20 seconds just like the OP says, or maybe even shorter. The entire map, however? No way - its huge. A safe estimate would be between 40-70 seconds, no more no less. LS in 20 seconds? More like 9 seconds tops at full speed. Eh to be fair we've only seen a fighter jet for a quick second in Trailer #1. The speed could have changed by now, so we're not sure. Personally if I had to guess specifically, I'd estimate 15 seconds to completely travel the distance of LS's length. What the hell are you guys talking about? Rockstar pointed out that the map is 3.25 times bigger than liberty city's. The city alone was said to be bigger than Liberty City, which doesn't include the country side I don't think you know what you're talking about. 1. R* said V is 3.5x the size of RDR's map. 1 RDR map > 1 LC 2. We have no definite proof that LS is as big, or bigger, than LC. The map looks smaller than LC. 3. I mean we could still fly them, it would probably take about 20 secs to get to the other side of the map, unless we go in circle( Sounds like alot of fun ) So my point is, they are useless in such a small world. I would like to hear you guys opinion on this matter( Like it matters anyway, most people are going to suck up to Cockstar.) Absolute idiot. I'm sure they'll be hard to use against ground vehicles and pedestrians due to the speed of the jets and the time it takes to render such objects on the ground. If my calculations are correct, assuming LS is the same size as LC, if the fighter jet flies at the speed of sound, then we will be able to cross LS in about 0.6 seconds, there's no way they're gonna make the fighter jet anywhere near that fast for multiple reasons. Yes after the May 2nd previews, one of the publications that saw the preview asked one of the R* people how long will it take the planes/jets to travel from one side of the map to the next and the R* replied with that fastest plane/6 minutes answer, whether or not this is true we shall see, but even if the R* guy was exaggerating the time it still is probably close to that. If you include the water area then it is 5x RDR. If you think it will be small you haven't played RDR. I'm really happy with how big the map will be. Yeah, that's right, Rockstar will take out jets from the game before the release just because you THINK the map is small. We already know LOS SANTOS is as big land-wise as Liberty City, plus we know the WHOLE map is huge, and that there's a military base (with airstrip?) in the country side, also we still don't know if there's a small landing strip in the country somewhere too. I think that "six minute" estimate should be comforting, especially considering its for the fastest jet. The jets in SA felt relatively slow iirc. Plenty of the planes in this game will be slow as well, plus you probably won't be flying straight across the map most of the time(I understand OP meant jets in particular but six minutes is plenty of time for me, you could chopper all around liberty city in way less time in gta iv).
