Roughly the size of LC works for me.

 

Big enough for the city.

 

I'm not sure if I should be happy I made the calculation or sad that there's 5 times more mountains and stuff than there is city.

 

Well ..I guess I'm using the wrong mindset here.

I'm sure that everyone including me will enjoy the countryside as much as Los Santos.

Well, your method got you roughly the same size as mine got me.

Which both are like the descriptions of the size.

So I guess, the results confirm the method.

Yours is much shorter tho.

Here's CAD program "calulation". If map is joined well and grid scale (dimension) is 1x1 km, then area bordered by purple line is about 6.55 square kilometers (2,53 sq miles).

Thanks IDredMan, guys like you always clear my mind to understand more. One thing; much countryside left I see if it's true. Couldn't R* just add one more city for all the countryside that is left. Also, I am still spectaculating to see San Diego because of this Los Perros Freeway theory, Let's wait.

Well, I would think the countryside is like a mix of Red Dead and the countryside in SA.

Lots of small towns.

It's about a hundred feet bigger or smaller than LC, I'm not too sure about the exact size of LC (I know it's 3.something).

 

Also, why are you acting like the countryside will be 100% empty desert?

There's gonna be towns and lots of other things to see in the map.

 

My expectations (And most of the community's expectations) are a brand new city, with other surrounding areas to compliment the city.

However, I would be disappointed if there weren't many towns in the countryside.

Your calculations are so weird man... I'm gonna point out everything I don't get.

 

 

So umm ...I don't know the exact numbers for everything, so I'm just gonna post the formula in my brain.

 

So, the map is gonna be 3.5 as big as RDR.

 

RDR was about 6sq miles (Heard it was 13, but that doesn't sound legit).

 

6*3.5 = 21sq miles.

 

Now we take the map size and divide it by the map size on blueprint (21.5" x 26.75")

Okay with you so far.

 

 

Now we're gonna have to turn the miles into inches.

A mile = 63360 inches.

So 21sq miles = 1330560"

21 miles = 1330560"

Not 21 square miles.

 

Edit: So if a mile = 63360 inches.

21 sq miles = 84.304.281.600 sq inches.

 

 

1330560/575.125 = 2313

Where does 575.125 come from?

 

 

So, we take the Los Santos size on the blueprint and just multiply it by 2313 and we have the size of Los Santos in inches.

(Then we'd probably turn it into miles)

I'm completely lost.

Hard to take an accurate measurement, but from this video, it would appear that ALL of Liberty City, Algonquin and Alderney would fit inside JUST the Los Santos metropolitan area... then you have all of Blaine County left to go.
