Input
What really caught my eye was the "classic GTA characters for online character creation", now that's something that sounds real cool. And it has me wondering, just how in depth is this character creation.
DuPz0r
I'm really expecting something big from GTAO, why would they keep quite until last otherwise.... Even the CCS sounds like a really in-depth thing!
Durden
I agreed with everything the OP said up until he mentioned 100+ players. That is a technical impossibility for a game like V. At max, I'd expect 24 players. Also, I think you people are getting over your heads as far as multiplayer possibilities, which will ultimately lead to disappointment when we get the MP previews. Think about it for a sec - how on earth would it work, to have your own monopoly in LS, and purchasing houses/cars/guns only to lose them when you quit the game. I do believe that there will be a Los Santos Customs in MP that will allow us to retrieve our exclusive car (and buy temporary ones) but I think most of you are getting way over your heads with this whole MMORPG style of multiplayer. allftw
Knowing how much fun I had in IV's multiplayer this can only be amazing. Character customisation is something I really hoped they would add and owning cars in multiplayer too sounds awesome. I'm guessing the money we gain from multiplayer matches will be put into buying vehicles/weapons and possibly some properties too? Have no idea how that would work though. Guest
This sounds great. It sounds to me like they're doing something similar to what Need For Speed Rivals is doing (announced today) where you drop into multiplayer a lot more seamlessly, where the multiplayer world seems a lot more alive and feels closer to the single player. This is exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if we'll be able to play the minigames like pool, golf, etc with ppl online like in single player. It would be pretty cool if our multiplayer character goes about his daily life like Micheal, Franklin and Trevor do in single player. What I mean is my friends can call my character and use him when I'm not online. Would be kinda crazy to log online and select my multiplayer character and he's in the middle of a bank robbery. If they were on par, I'd expect only a little bit of improvement like 8 more players (32 total) with the PS3's advanced hardware. You need to understand, MAG was a very simplistic game. The game itself didn't demand a whole lot of power. A game as huge and detailed as GTAV will most definitely require very powerful hardware (PS4/X1) to even allow that many people. I hope in GTA VI there will be an MMO-type multiplayer mode with tonnes of players.

I know M.A.G. was weak... but it's all about how many individual players can be on the server at a time, for some reason servers for xbox games have a hard limit on 24/32 w/e it is... ps3 based servers clearly have a higher cap. So for example, if a GTA Online had a similar server setup to games such as wow... where it isn't one server with "massive" amounts of people, but more a case of many "interleaved" servers building up one whole "realm", that could work in a "MMO" sense, but not with 360's tiny cap, even if they had 100000s of interleaved servers. **edit* I personally think that in the sense of people on the ground together, this iteration of GTA Online, will be a well made "pseudo" MMO's where you get the sense of the first M without the reality of it ruining the MO part Edited May 24, 2013 by blakeney

Revolution-XW
How can it be an MMO if there will be a maximum of 24 players? I believe he said like an MMO, but yeah I agree by the looks so far. I just imagine a RP mode for the Gta V Online, which is the new Free Roam.
rjmthe2nd
This game is seriously goin' to feel like Red Dead Redemption to me,online has Past protagonists / Characters? a big ass story? big ass map? deadeye? the graphics even look similar to RDR. can't wait for this game, but i doubt it'll beat RDR,like how GTA IV Didn't beat Vice City for me. Well I may have been over estimating there. But honestly at this point its hard to say exactly how the server structure will be. We are so used to servers in mp games running one specific way, possibly with the way Rockstar is programming this game it may be possible for the servers might be handling a gross amount of players at once. Rockstar is known for being groundbreaking and experimental in that sort of way. Also it might be something like hundreds of players might be working together simultaneously across different servers for a bigger goal further changing the course of the GTAO experience as a whole. I have no idea honestly Its all assumption at this point. But right now thats all we can do is look ahead and predict what may be in the final game, break apart the few clues here and there. Ill definitely be filling in the blanks as soon as more information comes through. Thank you for your input though =].
Ice1980
What if Grand Theft Auto Online is a place not only for mulitiplayer, but place to live a life as an Los Santos resident? A hub if you will where we all can take our user created avatars, take them online live in the city as if it was real life? I guess Sim City with a mix of The sims, but gta style and game play? We could have hangouts, join gangs or start up one. We could invite friends or crews to live in the city we reside in. We could buy property and live the life. Ahh never mind I don't make any sense

I feel it will be on this same scale of persistence and literal reaction to your characters life in the world of V. So you do make sense =]. Think of it an MMO, you live the life of your character there but that doesnt mean you have to be there 24/7. Whenever you log on you are living as that character and progressing them through their lives.

What do you guys expect the CCS to be like? Max Payne 3 but more options and personlizations. I really hope they keep and add some more game settings like in GTA IV because they went a step backward with RDR and MP3 by making preset modes like Hardcore. gtamodeller
I spend hundreds of hours in IV freeroam Multiplayer. Cant wait to here about gtav Online. Especially because of some statements from The Benz: “Refining open world multiplayer into something really special has been a huge focus of development.” “We hope that GTA V will do for multiplayer open world games what GTA 3 did for open world single-player games.” Full ign Interview: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/13/gra...seen-mastermind

It would be the best online experience ever made 2. I can say goodbye to my marriage 3. GlitzyTomb
It's probably too much for GTAV but... What if we have the option to be at odds with one another, on a long term scale. What I mean is... Remember how Max Payne had different Character Layouts? You could have a Heavy Loadout, a Scout Loadout, a Sniper Loadout, etc. etc. Perhaps GTAV could have something similar. A Friendly or Neutral Character (not giving any bonus points to anyone when killed, not gaining any bonus points from anyone when you kill them) Gang Characters (giving small bonus to player law enforcement when killed and a big bonus to rival player gangs when killed, gaining small bonus when killing a player law enforcement and a big bonus when killing player rival gangs) A Law Enforcement Character (giving a small bonus when killed by player gangs, gaining a very big bonus when killing player gangs) It probably wouldn't work all that well with only 16 players, but with 24 or more could be pretty sweet. That way there is very little incentive for Friendly/Neutral characters to kill either Gang Members or Cops, little incentive for Gangs to kill Friendly/Neutral characters but Big incentive for them to kill Law Enforcement, and BIG incentive for Law Enforcement to kill Gang Members. Perhaps also make Gang Characters begin losing money/experience if they go on a Neutral/Friendly player killing spree and make Law Enforcement lose a lot of money/experience for kill Neutral/Friendly players. Perhaps Neutral/Gang/Law Enforcement could each get bonuses either as Leveling Up or just as things you can spend your money on. Cops get tazers and can call for backup, Gangs can Lock Down their neighborhood, Neutrals just get easier access to planes/sports cars/bikes/etc.
