At first i was a tad pissed at R*, but then i remembered how it worked with both RDR and LA Noir... and all the "exclusive" stuff seems important, then once you complete the game you either realise you didn't miss anything or the said items were accessible anyway, just not from the start. The remaining "exclusives" you will be able to buy for a small amount of £/$ if you really do want it "that" much. Which i guess is still "not very R*"..... but if you think about all the sh*t they DON'T do that all the others do, to make money out of us, this is nothing really.

If things like the cars for example, were faster then "standard" in-game cars, or all the decent looking cars were "exclusive", then R* would officially go into my "yet another scumbag company" pile with 99.9% all other big company's in any field lol!

The problem is people don't seem to understand that these things are BONUSES, which means its not been cut from the actual game which is what matters.

Can i have the special edition - BUT give up the extra guns and 25% extra charging speed, tattoo's etc.

and have the garage and cars instead.

I would buy the basic version and give them £5.00 extra to give me the cars and garage - don't want anything else

SO THAT MEANS I HATE THE COLLECTERS EDITION - CANT AFORD IT AND IT HAS THE ONLY ITEM I WANT.

Now I will have to spend the first free roam bit hunting down a steeling the best car I can find BUT have no garage to put it in mad.gif

I'm happy with the collectors edition. I'd much rather have merchandise than a statue.

It doesn't bother me because I never get exclusive extra content.

All I am interested in is the game.

Can't think of a game off the top of my head but I know there have been games where if you don't buy the special edition they release it a little after for purchase on the marketplace

L.A Noire, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption to name a few.

I like the sound of that.

I'm not happy about these special editions, but at least I'll be able to unlock and/or purchase the in-game stuff later.

Im just honestly going to be buying the CE for the pure fact of impulse and being the first one in line to get it with a big box. I am trying to make a shrine soon like my brothers Mass Effect one.

Not angry at all. At the end of the day, no matter what edition you buy, I'm almost positive everyone will have access to any bonuses featured e.g. the cars, weapons, extra tattoos eventually as add-ons.

The point of special editions is solely to make money and to do that they give bonuses to people who are willing to fork out for it and be the first to get it. Just like console/platform exclusive DLCs, the company who pays the most gets it first.

This isn't a let down from Rockstar as game developers, it's just today's industry standards as they are controlled by their publishers and marketing. They are a business and they have to and want to make money. You could look at it in the way that this money will eventually be spent back on us anyway, as making a game like GTA must cost millions and we know they provide top quality.

It's crap for people who can't afford it and I really sympathise with those that will struggle to even pay for the standard edition with today's prices. It will be even crapper if it's confirmed that any of these bonuses won't be eventually available on the marketplace as add-ons (e.g. the flyable blimp) But all we can do is hope and expect them to keep their fanbase in mind and ensure that everyone will eventually get everything in game and get what they initially paid for. We've seen it get worse and worse with other companies like EA, and unfortunately as much as we love Rockstar, they aren't exempt from going down that path if Take-Two take lead them there.

LOL How is it a bonus? If I sell you a car and then give you floor mats is that a bonus? The DLC for GTAIV was a bonus. This is day one horse armor.

Nope. I got the collectors edition for IV, and while this is £60 more expensive, I don't have a problem with it and will probably get it.

Ok first the car sales market and game sales market are two very different models, why people still compare them for reasons x y and z is waaay beyond me.

Second, it is just day one horse armor as you say... so why are you bothered, you and i both know what sort of portion day one horse armor plays in a game....

and third.. if you really are bothered by this horse armor, but cant afford/wont pay xx amount for the collectors/special editions, said armor will be accessible for like 60p at a later date....

If that 60p is too much or a rip off in your eyes, we have completed the circle and are now going round... you are either bothered and want to buy it one way or another... or you are not bothered and wont be buying it.

Good point - It would be nice though to drive that hot rod out the garage and go for a slow drive down to the beach as soon as you turn the game on for the first time.

People like you can't even argue back, instead you use STUPID comparisons that are irrelevant. Why do you think the Blimp comes with ALL pre-orders? It's NOT exclusive, so its NOT cut out of the game. They just get it earlier, on day one basically. Also, the bonus weapons is ADDITIONS as it clearly says it.

There's no good analogy for gaming rip-offs because no other medium has the rip-off capacity of games. I've never sat through a half-finished film, or a film that I had to pay for in installments.

It's more than horse armor. Not good enough to warrant paying extra, not crappy enough not to feel cheated by. And I don't want to wait later, I don't want to buy GOTY edition, I don't want to pay a cent extra for such content. Especially locked in game content.

I get that kids like to have toys and collectables and that's fine. I also get why parents hate cereal boxes that advertise toys on the cover. R* suggesting that I pay three times the price of the game for the aforementioned content is obscene.

If you don't think this kind of thing is killing gaming you're crazy. Obviously R* isn't as bad as EA or Activision, but it's getting there. And it's a steep downgrade from the brilliant DLC of IV.

I do hate in-game exclusive pre-order crap, but in my old age I've mellowed out and accepted that this kind of bullsh*t is going to happen. You can thank Gamestop, they're the ones who started it.

I wouldn't consider it a wall, but more-or-less a way to draw in more money from GTA V.

Odds are most of the stuff they're putting up for pre-order now (digitally, I mean) will be available as DLC.

I may get the "Special Ed." as the extra weapons, and bonus outfit, tats and such appeal to me, I don't care about the R* cap and money pouch, the only thing I like about the CE is the unique vehicle and property garage, but R* states that players will "instantly receive" the garage to store custom vehicles, I'm hoping you can unlock these vehicles and garage later on in the game thru completing some task(s), as that would add replay value and give a sense of achievement as you would have earned it. As for having the option to create a "classic GTA character" for online MP use, while it may be fun for a bit, I always recreate my customizable characters in my own likeness and that won't be any different with V.

Have you ever pre-ordered any game before? You're talking as if Rockstar invented pre-order bonuses, when they didn't. Every single publisher save meaningless crap like this to get people to pre-order thier game, that is called pre-order bonuses not DLC. This is nothing like Oblivion's horse armour DLC.

I wouldn't say I'm angry, but R* knows how to get my money. I NEVER care about SE or CE, but f*cking R* does what most developers don't do. They chose to include in-game exclusives. I wanna say they're dicks, but whatever. I'm buying the collector's edition, because I have the money and I don't wanna wait for that sh*t to become DLC.

I decided to vote yes, because R* are a bunch of asshoes for that. lol.gif

Now that I think about it, I'm just gonna get the SE. f*ck the garage and vehicles. I'll earn that sh*t like every other GTA. The custom online characters seem interesting, but f*ck that too. I don't care about the other sh*t that comes with the CE, so $149.99 seems ridiculous for me.

No. You just don't unlock the Blimp early in the game. When you pre-order, it will instantaneously be available to fly. Besides, the blimp doesn't even make much difference, even if it wasn't in the game.

This pisses me off more than anything. You're being obtuse. No, I don't think r* invented pre-order bonuses. but why shouldn't I be pissed that they're just as greedy as everyone else? Let me make this as clear as possible -- I don't want to pre-order for content, I don't want to drink mountain dew for content, I don't want to enter a contest for content, I don't want to buy the game a second time for content. My sixty bucks should buy what's on the disc and the nickel and dime stuff should be recognized for what it is -- a rip-off.

that is called pre-order bonuses not DLC

Edit to address this because I'm getting double teamed on this subject. When I complain that the CE content is exclusive someone will claim it'll probably be available later as DLC. When I acknowledge that possibility someone will grief me for calling CE content DLC. Just wanted to point that out. I refuse to refer to it as a "bonus" because that would imply it's a gift. There's no such thing as a bonus you pay for.

Why do people think this stuff is exclusive?? I truly do not understand the whining.

Car garages? Melee hammers? This is Grand Theft Auto. Save for maybe the bonus tattoos, all of this will be in the game, you'll just have to unlock it as you progress the story as opposed to getting it all for free upfront.

I mean just look at the weapons description. They'll be free if you have one of the special editions. Why? Because them simply being in the game is not the bonus, it's being able to easily access them at the start. They aren't take this stuff out of the game.

This. icon14.gif

The rest I don't mind tbh, and I voted yes by accident.

Holy sh*t, you guys are losing your mind over something so trivial.

I guarantee none of this is exclusive (except for MAYBE the extra tattoos) and can all be found/unlocked in-game. Y'all are going to feel like idiots in a few months for bitching about this stuff.

I don't really care to be honest anyways, I think special edition & pre-order perks are dumb anyways.

I mean majority of the in-game perks for the "special edition" are usually always like a special clothing or item that give you some special perk, or some special badass weapon unlocked from the beginning of the game. And I just feel like, why would I want these special weapons & items that are just going to make my game easier? I'd rather play the game like the designers originally intended then play with all these special items that make my first play through easy.

I'm not too angry because I love the idea of paying for anything V-related, but then again that's my GTAFanoy bias. But then again - again, there shouldn't really be many people on this forum that think differently from me. Forums are generally for the hardcore fans, with a few exceptions. But for the most part though, I think most of us should be happy that we get more content.

Oh, and to all you (ironically) greedy f*cks that think R* are omitting features from the game: I'm sorry, I had no idea you have an internal connection with R* HQ and they personally told you that they cut the content from the game. Just look at the tonnes of content V already has - R* didn't have to add this sh*tload of content to the game. And now they're adding even more content for a fee, and you're complaining? Get off your high horses and stick with your PlayStation 2.
