Is anyone here angry about the collectors edition?

Is it just me, or am I the only one here who's angry about the game-exclusive stuff being in the collector's edition? Real-life stuff in the collector's edition like hats, lock boxes, and books are cool and all, but why do we need all these game-exclusive things? Now it seems like Rockstar is trying to put a wall up between those who got the collectors edition and those who didn't.

Car garages? Melee hammers? This is Grand Theft Auto. Save for maybe the bonus tattoos, all of this will be in the game, you'll just have to unlock it as you progress the story as opposed to getting it all for free upfront.

 

I mean just look at the weapons description. They'll be free if you have one of the special editions. Why? Because them simply being in the game is not the bonus, it's being able to easily access them at the start. They aren't take this stuff out of the game.

I'm not mad as it'll be avaible to everyone down the road. It is however disappointing. Swag should only be included in these editions.

Nope. It's just clever marketing/business I guess. I suspect a lot of people will buy special or collector's editions of GTA V.

The game-exclusive things don't seem that important. There are some plane stunt challenges I thought I'd miss out on, but seems like they're just additional and nothing major.

If it's not something you can unlock with progress, rather then buying the collectors edition and having it from the start. It'll most likely be a small dlc pack too.. Can't think of a game off the top of my head but I know there have been games where if you don't buy the special edition they release it a little after for purchase on the marketplace

Might be exclusive for a while but will no doubt release as DLC (free or paid). I'm sure Rockstar would want the player to experience their hard worked game at it's fullest.

If you had a good eyesight, there is a descriptive box that says "ADDITIONAL" weapons for single player. Everything is still in the game, these are just bonuses and early access.

Has R* said that definitively? Otherwise, I have zero reason to believe they will be exclusive. All of this sounds like things you'll have to unlock or purchase when you're deeper into the game. The collector's editions simply give you them upfront as bonuses.

I hope in that pic with Michael in the suit we don't have to buy the collector's or special edition to get that suit, I will be really disappointed. I'm assuming it's the gun he's holding is exclusive, that or you will be able to unlock it later as you progress.

Can't think of a game off the top of my head but I know there have been games where if you don't buy the special edition they release it a little after for purchase on the marketplace

Slightly disappointed, yes. Angry, definitely not.

This is the only game I'm this excited for and anticipate so much, also I'm probably going to play it 10 times longer and more then any other games the coming years. So I'll probably go with either the special or the collectors edition anyway.

I’m not, hell I plan on going into GameStop trading in some games, and putting down the minimum down payment on the Collectors edition, the Physical contents are what sold me.

 

 

As for the ingame stuff, from how I read it, the Weapons are just free to those who buy the Collector's/Special, as are the Cars, the Blimp is for everyone who Pre-Orders or gets a Launch copy (Unless the codes on the Recipet but that only happens with Retailer exclusive bonus'), and may just be that one blimp, only the Atomic liveried one anyhow.

 

The old charictars clothes and Tattoos as well as Ability boosters...well those seem like they're for this only. The Clothes could be like the cars and just an early thing you get at some Garage. I'm not only to really care since I like to earn things, but these are basically a handful of things to give me a start.

 

Anyhow I think most people just didn't expect this, I did after RDR, MP3, and LAN. Not to mention the fact that every other game company does this as well, it just didn't shock me.

I was disappointed when rockstar released map packs for red dead redemption! Selling parts of the map twice is not cool, so expect more of this for GTAV.

Probably after a little while the in game exclusive stuff will be purchasable on the PSN Store and The Xbox Live Market Place.

I don't care because it's not for pc... But I hope the blimp and guns and all that stuff will be included in the standard pc version

 

If I was a console gamer however, I would be happy and grateful that R* spent a few years and millions of dollars making an awesome, quality game, plus giving a few extra (optional) goodies like those in the collectors edition to make the game even more special. But that's just me....

The special edition is interesting but the collectors edition isn't worth it as it is way over priced.

 

Special Edition = +£25

• steel case - cool I love steel cases

• map - nice but a lot of people will be happy with the standard map inside the case

• bonus tattoos/clothes - OK but can live without it

• additional stunt challenges - ...meh

• ability booster (25% faster regen) - meh

• 3 exclusive weapons (.50 pistol/bullpup shotgun/hammer) - meh

 

Worth an extra £25? The digital stuff would probably cost a few £...depends how many stunt challenges/tattoos/clothes are included. The steel case and map would be worth about £10-15. I'd say it's not bad for a total of £65.

 

Collector's Edition = +£80 (over standard) or +£55 (over special)

• everything from special

• a case - exciting....

• a hat - nice but I don't wear hats.

• a security bag - hide sh*t in it...dont need it though.

• online multiplayer characters - I'll make my own thanks.

• an extra two cars and a bike with a garage - vehicles are alright but what's the garage all about???

 

I know a lot of the cost will go to making the case/hat/bag but is it worth it? I don't think so. I'll never use them. The only things of interest are the digital stuff and I'd only be interested in the bonus vehicles. So definitely not worth an extra £55/80.

yes, i had to cancel my preorder from last year and buy the special edition because i want the full game and to not miss out. i hate having to make much more for content that's already in the game.
