You will most probably later be able to buy all that game content from the store, so I dont see the big deal.

No, its not a scam, you pay more, you get more. I'm sure the standard edition of GTAV is well worth the money.

People don't understand that what makes the special edition special is the added bonus content.

The collector's edition of GTA V isn't worth it for me. Yeah scam. A lot of people just love the sound of "collector's edition" and pay way too much money for it imo.

You can call it clever marketing/business too.

How much did the collectors edition even cost?

Edit: I want the Hotknife anyways ;_;

Too much kids crying, It was obvious that R* would make this kind of DLC

(Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3)

All you kids should stop crying.

Damn... That's a lot.

Edit: Wait, thats like 1000 kr, a game is normally 600kr... It's not THAT big of a deal, just a normal collectors edition price.

None of the editions are worth it to me however I can't blame R* as people buy these stuff. Hell I've bought editions like this before but only when I get them at a discount. For example I have The Last of Us Joel Edition for £39. It's £55+ in GAME. If I see a GTA V edition at £40 or less then I'd do the same. However for the current price R* are asking I'd say it's a rip-off.

When has a special or collector's edition ever worth it's material value? Rarely do they become valuable collector items. Fancy editions are only meant to rip off gullible fans.

Or people with enough money not to give a f*ck..

Or people that enjoy having it as a remembrance like I do, hell I still have my Max Payne 3 statue sitting on my table along with the box that came with it, I still think it was worth it.

Also it's not ripping off if they enjoy it, it's your opinion

As for it being a scam, I don't think it is from what I see.. I see many collectors edition at these prices that give us less than that

Definetly not a scam, but paying $150 for some extra tattoos, clothes and cars etc. is a waste of money. I'm sure I won't regret not buying it. I pre-ordered the standard edition last year and it would be neat if I got to fly the blimp, but I won't bother cancelling it and order it again just to get that blimp. It's not THAT fun flying a blimp.

As for the extra accessories in the SE and CE, I might've considered buying it if they weren't included. Walking around with a GTA V snapback or a GTA V bag is social suicide IMO.

I don't think I'll call the Collector's Edition a flat-out "scam", but you definitely need to either be quite a dedicated fan or have a bit extra money in your wallet (perhaps both) to think about buying it. Let's evaluate the extra $70 you spend on it. R* used all of these fancy SWAGYOLO terms for the cap and especially for the box, but we have to be realistic here.

- The cap, comparing it to the ones on Rockstar Warehouse, should cost roughly $20. It won't (or shouldn't) cost any more than the other caps since they're all memorabalia.

- There wasn't much detail about which and how many "classic characters" there will be in GTA V's multiplayer, but we can assume that those "classic character" skins, the two vehicles (one for single-player and another for multiplayer), and the garage might be roughly on scale with Red Dead Redemption's Legends and Killers pack (perhaps less). That was priced at $10, and the few reviewers that reviewed it found it to be "overpriced". However, that's a matter of if you're happy with what you payed for or not. So, I'd say this in-game content might be worth from $5 to $10 (that's being pretty generous).

- Then there's that box. R* posted about how "fancy" that cardboard box everything comes in is. Sure, it's a nice cardboard box, but it's still a f*cking cardboard box. Spraying Febreze on a turd makes it more tolerable to be around, but that turd is still a literal piece of sh*t. I'll be extremely generous and price it at a dime ($0.10). Not many people are looking for a box these days. Then again, I can be wrong, and that said box might be able to fetch a price.

- The last, and potentially biggest, item with the Collector's Edition is that safety deposit bag along with a key. Since I don't see anything similar to it on Rockstar Warehouse, it's up to you to decide if this item is worth from $39.90 to $44.90.

Really, it all comes down to if you're dedicated enough. Since, I'm very dedicated to the GTA V franchise, I might get the Collector's Edition. I do think R* should have at least thrown a T-shirt into the mix since it only costs like $0.05 to put a logo on a shirt (no exaggeration), but they also feel like they're worth something. Also, I'm still kind of sour at R* for putting a retarded walrus on the packaging line of GTA IV's Special Edition. Where the hell is my "The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV" CD? Well, even with that missing, that Special Edition was only like $30 more ($90 total), and it came arguably better physical items than GTA V's Collector's Edition.

The way I see it, these editions are ways for the hardcore fans to justify spending extra money to support R*. Hardcore fans want both - to get more content, and support the developer. By purchasing the SE or CE, we are doing both of these things. R* are just looking out for the hardcore fans - no more, no less. The nick knacks are really just a cool bonus for me - I'm happy to spend extra money on art.

Just buy the Special Edition. Only $20 ahead, good bonuses, and all of the in-game bonuses from both editions will make it to PSN/XBL eventually.

With all the IRL cotent think the price is pretty close. But the ingame stuff seems incrediby expensive.

Can't wait for the first $10 multiplayer map pack.

It's not a scam, but it's a lot of money. I most likely won't be buying the special or collector's edition. I always felt that Rockstar would never go down the "pre-order DLC" road with GTA, but oh well.
