So with the new announcement of "playing as classical GTA characters in multiplayer," Rockstar more or less confirmed that the multiplayer character selection system from Red Dead Redemption will feature in GTA V. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's basically a roster of characters from the story and/or from the past games who you can choose from. They range from protagonists to random enemies to people from older games. Red Dead Redemption had most (if not, all) of the bad guys in the game, most of the protags and good guys, and a lot of the main Red Dead Revolver characters.

It's a character creation system with classic GTA presets. Not that difficult to read the description on the blog post was it?

Their collectors edition states the following -

"Custom Characters for Grand Theft Auto Online - get classic Grand Theft Auto characters to use within the Grand Theft Auto Online Character Creation System"

 

So yes, it has been confirmed.

You can either create a custom character for freemode or having a predefined character for other modes.. and maybe freemode as well.

 

Also this was in Max Payne 3 as well (Characters from MP1 and 2)

I was kinda disappointed in RDR's non-customazible characters. It is cool if you can play as your favourite villain, classic etc character but I really enjoy customizing my multiplayer characters.

 

I hope GTA V's multiplayer will have both. You can play as characters from story of GTA V and IV and maybe even older games and change clothes for them and you can also make a new character. I am 100% sure there wont be sliders to make noses bigger or eyes so far away from each other that the dude looks like a fish, tht just doesn't fit GTA I think.

 

RDR and GTA IV (don't know how MP3 works) combined but both 10x (GTA IV 50x ) would be cool

 

I'm also fine with only story characters (RDR style) if you can customize them to make them more unique (would be stupid to have 16+ CJ's or TV's without any difference)

 

And like someone mentioned, characters from other games too? Cause mayhem in Los Santos with Max Payne? Catch horses with John Marston?
