I hate it. I didn't think that Rockstar would stoop so low and introduce exclusive in-game bonuses for a GTA game. It's ridiculous.

How the hell are you even making that comparison? Sure it has DLC. What game doesnt? At least its not like an online pass or a pre order bonus that has stuff the game should have from the very beginning.

 

You probably dont have a job do you? Ill be happy to give R* my cash to support the arthritis and graphic designers that made this package. As well to support this great company that continues to shell out quality games , instead of clones that come out every year like the call of duty franchise.

At first, I was planning on buying the Collector's Edition. But after researching how Rockstar handled DLC for RDR and MP3 (LA Noire was a bit different with cases), it seems Special Edition is the way to go. 20 bucks more for 3 free weapons, new tattoos, new outfits, new stunt plane challenges, a blueprint map and steelbox with artwork seems pretty ok to me. I've def seen a whole lot worse this generation.

 

But paying 50 dollars more (more than the SE that is) for a deposit bag, a cap, 2 cars, a bike and classic GTA skins seems overkill. Esp when you consider that the DLC will be available on the store later on for 5 bucks or so...10 max.

 

I think I'm going with SE. Either way, it's still the first time I ever buy a Special Edition, so I'm excited regardless, just a shame the CE is overpriced, it should've been $100-120 imo.

Seems like a plan. Pre-order bonuses will probably be included in the Season Pass aswell.

Yeah i realised that after i posted. Still what about the hammer, and the Multiplayer character options? and the garage, and special vehicles, and weapons, and unique outfits. can't get all of them, even though i'm paying full retail price for the game, as i have done with every ast GTA title, my game is cut short.

 

meh, people can justify it all they want. and yeah sure, they're a business, this economic system works on the principal that goods are worth whatever you can get for them. I understand that, but they were also a business when they sold GTA London, GTA2, GTAIII, GTAVC, GTASA, GTALCS, GTA VCS, GTA IV, TLAD, TBOGT, i paid full price for all of them and got the full games, and you know what? TT didn't do so badly out of all our money, so do they really need to play cheap tricks like cutting content in order to squeeze a little extra revenue for themselves?

 

I'll b whatever i consider to be worth my money, and everyone else will do the same and there's not really a lot i can do about it, but that doesn't mean i can't observe what a cheap business practice this is. It's very disappointing. I've always loved Rockstar games.

Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire (unsure of MP3) had pre-order exclusives. You couldn't even own them all the first day unless you pre-ordered 3 different copies of the game. Anyways, a few months later Rockstar re-released all the pre-order exclusives again as payable DLC in the Marketplace. The blimp will probably be available for purchase in the Sony Store or the Xbox Live Marketplace.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You guys should be appreciative that Rockstar isn't making 3 separate DLCs for 3 different retailers for V. Anyways I'm sure that blimp will be available to purchase as DLC anyways like the other pre-order exclusives for RDR and LAN.

I'm pretty sure I got that stuff in RDR when I got the GOTY edition so all this stuff will be available later on once the rest of the DLC is out.

 

Now the question is it worth another £25 for a steel case and a map? I think I'll just get the standard edition because I'll be buying the GOTY version when it comes out with all dlc. Not like I need those ability boosters, special cars and weapons straight away.

Why are you going to rebuy the GOTY edition if you're already going to own the standard edition? You're essentially paying for the same game + the DLC; when you can just by the DLC on its own.

 

The GOTY edition will probably be $60, while GTA V is around $45 a year after it's release.

How do you feel about the in-game bonuses? I'm tempted to get the Collectors Edition because of what sounds like an additional garage as well as a unique car - but the stuff being unlocked right away doesn't sit quite right with me. Same with the free guns and ability boost. I'd rather play the game without any handouts. Depending on how quickly the game will let you get various weapons, being able to just waltz down and stock up on shotguns and pistols might take the challenge out of some of the early missions.

I'd rather unlock them in game. I'll be waiting for the stuff that are not part of the game to be put on PSN and by that time I'd have unlocked everything that's in the original game without fast tracking it.

Of course one person doesn't make a difference. But id rather voice my displeasure at this kind of sh*t than bend over and willingly spread my cheeks.

 

From all the things i am looking at, all of the in game bonuses can't be anymore than 800ms points, and even that is over pricing it.

For 40 extra you could get a new game. The price is double the game, for a few things that were removed. All they did, like most others who try to sell a special edition was create tat no one gives a sh*t about, to pad it all out. Also i am hoping that blueprint map doesn't mean we wont get a map in the standard.

Blueprint map is just like the Map you got in you made a pre order for Skyrim. The map in the game case is still there.

We all knew a special/collectors edition were coming, but we did not know it would contain ingame items, and it's not rockstars first time.

 

But, I'm not mad etc for this, I thought this would happen since day 1, besides it's not that much items, 3 weapons, 1 car and 1 bike.

 

I will buy either special or collectors, not sure yet.

Well, R* is hardly in a position where they can sell the music they use, considering it's not theirs. Sure, the ambient music is, but that wouldn't be a prober soundtrack.

my thinking on the fact they left out a soundtrack cd is because they got artists to release new music through the game and they weren't able to get all the rights to produce a cd.

As I said in another topic, they are not holding back content. They're giving it to people up front as a bonus. Does anyone actually think this bonus garage will be the only way to store cars in a GTA game? Or that there won't be a melee hammer anywhere in the game without the special editions? Of course there will be, you'll just get this stuff as your progress the story without the special edition as opposed to getting it up front.
