I wonder what this is...

Some kind of (NASCAR) race track or a landing area for the blimps?

OMG! I hope it IS a Nascar type of racetrack! Holy crap! This would be AWESOME, especially in multiplayer!

I was thinking horse race track. There seems to be only grass inside the oval, no asphalt or buildings for Nascar pits. Then again, are horse race tracks 3 blocks in length?

Anyway, we'll probably be able to drive there. Hype increased.

Los santos looks... small:O

But if I recall correctly, Rockstar have said that LS is as big as Liberty City, so if LS looks that small there, the map is HUGE. LC wasn't the smallest place of all(well not the biggest either..), and I'm pretty sure there's alot of countryside and desert in the upper parts of the map.

Isnt LC in IV the largest GTA city?

I wonder what this is...

There doesn't seem to be any seating either. Oh well, at least it seems to be a track of SOME sort, and a huge one at that.

Nice to see a map where the Los Santos portion is at the right position. Because if the city is placed the middle and with everything we've seen so far, it'll feel way smaller.

see how different the map looks when its shifted differently? i think this is more accurate instead of Los Santos being right in the middle of the map. if its like this then i'm happy.plus i think they zoomed in just to show just Los Santos specifically.

You see them roads going south from the map?

Where is south central on this map?

Nowhere!

Them roads going south, lead to south central, thats my theory.

Look at it! Its going south! Its in the centre! And there is no south central that we can see already by the looks of things!

The city will be huge if my theory is correct!!

For people saying this is not Los Santos on that map:

Congratulations, you are retards.

LS alone indeed doesn't look ultra huge, but it's not the whole LS shown on it, and some previews said that LS is only 1/4 of the whole map. If so, then I think we can expect pretty big map.

I wonder what this is...

I reckon LS will be quite central on the map, with countryside/more city the other side of the harbour, shown here user posted image

where Franklin is looking over the harbour and there is clearly mountains etc. past the bridge.

Example of determining scale from real-life features.

The Los Angeles River is 260 feet wide.

Assume the Los Santos river is 260 feet wide.

Calculate scale of whole map.

20.9 square miles seems a bit low for the entire map. The Los Santos River is probably not the same width as the Los Angeles River (and I could measuring it wrong on the los-res GTAV map). But, it can't be too different, because it has to look right and there has to be room for car chases and so on.

Some people on this fourm really know how to make a scene, and whine as much as possible.

I don't know maybe I should just avoid the V section because every time somebody has a bit a critcism, they're seen as whiners. I feel like I'm surrounded by eleven year olds who don't respect opinions that are in contrast to theirs.

Some of us wanted a proper Los Angeles knockoff. Not a little half asses 'taste' of it. I'm the guy who wanted a Liberty City sized Los Santos with a better design. This city looks like Algonquin and Dukes & Broker combined. Regarding to structure of the city, it looks kind of silly and unsophisticated.

I completely agree and criticism is necessary. Now about LS looking too small... it appears to be so. It will probably feel "huge" (?)when in gameplay. But, by looking at Franklyn's neighborhood, that in itself looks tiny. Personally I would have sacrificed country and rural areas for city expansion.

We all know the overall map will be large, but the city does look too small.

Franklyn's area looks small. Why couldn't they develop more surrounding neighborhoods? Korea town will probably be a street. The Hills area will probably be two or three streets lol.

We all know the overall map is large but the city by itself does look too small.

Some people here need medical attention.

I know right? The map is still large regardless. Besides it may appear small LS, but I assure you it will look quite big once your in game playing cool.gif There's going to be so much to do and it will keep us busy for hours. But honestly will we really use every little street in GTA V? GTA IV there are parts of the city map streets that I have yet to drive on I'm to occupied with other things. And considering how big GTA V map will be I can care less about hardly no streets etc.
