alright look, this is really bothering me because when you look at gta san andreas, it is HUGE, I mean it has huge countryside, AND 3 CITIES. AND LET ME REMIND YOU THAT IT CAME OUT IN 2004 FOR THE PS2 AND XBOX. if these old gen console could handle such a massive world why not gta V on the ps3 and xbox360???? IT'S GOING TO BE A FLOP BECAUSE ROCKSTAR ARE FOOLS AND DON'T THINK ABOUT THE GAMER AND HOW BORING IT REALLY IS TO ONLY HAVE ONE CITY IN A GTA GAME. i mean come on people what is rockstar thinking.

GTA V's map will be more realistically scaled though. SA's map is the video game equivalent of trying to stick a size 10 foot into a size 8 shoe.

And that's all I care about.

Judging by a few screenshots of the city from a ground perspective, I'm guessing that Los Santos alone might be the size of West Elizabeth in Red Dead Redemption. Still, I don't see how the whole map is 3.5 times bigger than RDR considering that would probably make LS 15% of the map.

interiors and underwater are probably taken into account.

They said that the map is 3.5X the size of RDR not including underwater. That would make it 5X the size of it.

I asked in another topic but everyone ignored me, can we see the observatory on this map?

Well if this picture is showing that a waterway and lake are infront of/below it....

Then I'd guess, it is just a guess, that it's the location in the upper left of the map that has only one road going to it.

Sorry Mods, I know this belongs in the Mapping Los Santos Topic, But I'm just answering a question.

I think it's around here -

It is. As you can see in the image below, the observatory lines us almost directly with the major freeway running south in the middle of map near downtown (directly between the balcony and the distant bridge). In fact, your circle is precisely correct.

I'm not sure what the other building is. Perhaps a Kifflom compound?

The one I incorrectly pointed to? Yeah, maybe. It's odd that it's a full street to only one building. I'd hope it is used for something interesting. icon14.gif

Because of the new page I'll include the map I refer to.

It's gotta be big. Just look at these 2 screenshots

If you look at the second image. You will be able to see the Golden Gate Bridge from a far distance.

That gives you a clue to what the draw distance is like and how big the map is.

It may look small but i've been told the full-game map is 49 Square meters. Pretty big and long if you think about it.

Oh my god, 49 SQUARE METERS?!?!?! That is HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!

That's not the Golden Gate Bridge. I'm unsure of the real name, you can probably find it in the "Mapping Los Santos" topic. icon14.gif

Ya and it's also false. Don't listen to anyone, but here is what rockstar said.

" Gta V is "Bigger than RDR+SA+IV combined with room to spare, so not equal to, but bigger than all of thoses maps i stated. Or 3.5x RDR.

It's the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

The Vincent Thomas Bridge is a 1,500-foot (460 m) long suspension bridge, crossing the Los Angeles Harbor in the U.S. state of California, linking San Pedro, Los Angeles, with Terminal Island. The bridge is part of State Route 47. The bridge opened in 1963 and is named for California Assemblyman Vincent Thomas of San Pedro, who championed its construction. It is the fourth longest suspension bridge in California and the 76th longest span in the world. The clear height of the navigation channel is approximately 185 feet (56 m).

The terminal for ferries and helicopters to Santa Catalina Island is located underneath the western part of the bridge.

I think you mean 49 sq miles but whoever told you that is talking out of his ass. 49 metres is like 490 cm which is beyond the definition of ridiculous.

49 square Miles? It's more like 30 Sq Miles.

I know. But he said someone told him its 49 sq metres, which is in fact not the same as sq miles, no where near. 49 square metres is 4900 cm. If he said 49 sq miles, at least that would have been the right unit.

Tell me how can the map be small? Have you all never played Red Dead Redemption? Damn, if GTA V was the same size as that I'd be happy but NOPE. It's THREE AND A HALF TIMES BIGGER. Oh wait, that's only LAND. With water? FIVE TIMES BIGGER.

I can only think of the following reasons you think it's small:

1. You've been reading a different dictionary from me.

2. You have never played Red Dead Redemption.

3. You're an ungrateful sh*t.

It's odd that it's a full street to only one building.

Yeah whatever it is, I'm 80% sure it will have an interior or that we'll be able to interact with it in some unique way. The road leading to it looks significant and the size is rather impressive compared to most buildings on the map. It may be a mansion or compound of some sort.

I don't think it was ever officially confirmed by any screenshots but based on it's location there's a good chance that it's the Getty Center.

At least I'm hoping that's what it is. It's one of my favorite buildings in LA.

BTW, I love how Century City looks like Downtown LA in pictures like this.
