the idea of "special abilities" kinda disappoints me too.

I hope they aren't implemented to where you HAVE to use them, because I wont be.

I'm a new member to the forum, but I've been reading it for months... just now got the urge to state my opinion on a few matters.

1) The city of Los Santos does look smaller than I personally expected, given the hype from R* about how huge the map was. Not that they lied... I just think that, using clever wording, many of us were led to believe the entire map, and city itself, would be quite impressive. I'm far from amazed by the size of the city.

2) To the people (or trolls, whichever) saying that there's a possibility that this isn't a map of Los Santos, but, rather a map of a smaller, outlying town - you are all f*cking dildos. R* said that it's a map of Los Santos, the images from screen shots match up, etc. It's quite clear that it is LS.

3) The clever folks who pin-pointed the two cul-de-sacs in a screen shot and located them on the newly revealed partial map did good work. I'd like to extrapolate and say that they are quite close to the downtown area, and there appears to be minimal (if any) urban sprawl.

4) I'm not saying the city of LS is small... just smaller than I personally expected. It will be a great game, and I don't imagine that it will feel as small when played.

5) It's quite evident that there's not much more of the city to be revealed in any direction. I suspect that there might be a bit more to the south, southeast, and northeast... but not much.

6) There doesn't seem to be much city surrounding the downtown area, judging by both the map, as well as the screenshots. The size of the city appears to, geographically, cover the same amount of area as a town of about 5,000 people IRL (and yes, I realize we can't expect a city to be exactly replicated in a video game. But it would be nice if we could.)

7) To the people who keep harping that we've only seen PART of the map... you're right. I do hope, however, for your own sake, that you aren't holding out hope that there's another half of the city yet to be revealed - because you're undoubtedly setting yourself up for disappointment. The people who say... but It's the detail and the countryside and the other towns blah blah blah... The fact that you have to bring up those points only affirms what many are saying about the smaller-than-expected size of the city of Los Santos.

PS... f*ck Rockstar for delaying the game. That really pissed me off. That is all.

THIS and THIS AGAIN icon14.gif

Are you actually serious?

Has it come to this? Cause this is an all time low really. People are talking this way about a map, a map that isn't fully visible? When has Rockstar disappointed us before? Cause i don't know man, but they have yet to disappoint me with a game of theirs and in no way is that going to happen with the new GTA, their 'baby' , basically. I truly find it disgusting and disrespectful the way you are talking about these developers. As if they aren't working their f*cking asses off for this...wow..just WOW.

f*ck them for delaying it? No f*ck the guy that said that bullsh*t and you agreeing with that? again..WOW! I guess both of you would have settled with the game this month or last month, but without a lot of the many features the previews spoken about? We wouldn't have those featues at all, i'm sure. f*ck Rockstar for delaying it...wow...some people, LMAO!

what?

CVG said that Los Santos is 1/3 of the map. not 1/8.

so this map is pretty accurate for the size

Wrong ,CVG said LS is 1 over 8.

Wrong wrong wrong! Both are wrong CVG first said it will be 1/8th but then said LS will be 1/4th of the entire map in one of their videos.

Which tells they have actually no idea how big it will be and its just their speculation.

I will go with what R* said and believe it will be the same size as LC, which is good enough for me.

Some people actually judging things on the map, without even having played it. I guess they forgotten how full of detail LC was in GTA IV. or RDR. i just don't get all this complaining.

I'm NOT agreeing with the "f**k Rockstar for delaying the game part", that's not really too much of an issue to me anymore. I'm actually very pleased they delayed it and added more great features.

But I agree with everything else austinm_05 says.

Just who are you to Rockstar ? Did they raise you like a son or brother ? And yes - Rockstar have kind of disappointed us before. Whether you agree or not, many people felt a bit letdown by GTA IV, despite the fact that it was still a great game. GTA IV could have and should have been much better than it was, MUCH better.

Besides, you need to chill the f**k out. You don't automatically have to bow down to Rockstar just because they make great games like GTA. We are loyal customers and big fans of their work, and our hard-earned money goes to buying their games - they make hundreds of millions of dollars earned from sales of GTA as a result of this. We have the right to voice our criticisms and complaints of the product of theirs that we buy, so hopefully they can improve it. I'm very sure the many complaints and criticisms of GTA IV led them to include all these great things back in GTA V.

They are just very talented, big name game developers, they are not gods, get a reality check.

Can someone please post the quote from rockstar in which they, explicitly, say that "The city of Los Santos with be bigger than Liberty City and RDD combined." I'm pretty sure their statement has consistently been that the map, as a whole, would be that big. So, yeah, maybe Los Santos isn't as big as you hoped it would be that's a fault of your own. Rockstar never promised you an exact replica of Los Angeles, Never.

With that said I find the map to be much to what I expected, if not slightly better. The game will be great. And few people have posted, numerously, a screenshot of the blimp a rather big suburbs that ultimately makes up only a small portion on the map. There is nothing wrong with criticism, but it has to come from facts and knowledge not sh*t you pull out of your ass.

And let's not forget that Every. Single. Reputable Gaming Magazine & Site has confirmed that the map is Huge. Even IGN who has been the hardest on GTA 5, as far as legit criticism is concerned, agrees that the map is huge. So to those who, supposedly, "cancelled their per-orders" What the hell is your problem?

According to Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto V's Los Santos is bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined. Yep. There's wilderness, a military base, and even an ocean floor to explore underwater."

I couldn't be happier, that LS is SO SMALL when compared to the rest of the map. I hope that the will NEVER be GTA game with a city bigger than LC from GTA IV. Huge cities would feel just wrong in the GTA world, and they would kill the whole "GTA magic". You people should go back to playing the getaway or true crime. Cities in those games are really big (scale 1:1) and really boring. Just as you like it:)

I said it looks like its a quote from Game Informer

it's the quote you're talking about.

^you can't even see the car on the map without zooming in... therefore, it's a big city.

In the zoomed part of the second photo, each white block is 1 (unfinished) house.

There's another good reference if you want to be more precise about the city extension. As far as I could check, even in GTASA the landmarks were almost 1:1 scale, including its version for Santa Monica Pier.

If someone out there have an easy access to an image editor, just make a rule based on it. As far as I know, the real Pier is almost 650m. I may do it later, but if someone can make it while I'm out, it's fine. smile.gif

"You should read Game Informer for the full look, but here are a few big details we've learned from the magazine's latest cover story:

According to Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto V's Los Santos is bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined. Yep. There's wilderness, a military base, and even an ocean floor to explore underwater."

Looks like its a Game Informer quote.

Maybe they made an incorrect statement. Maybe they meant the whole map would be all these others together, but called everything Los Santos. No way they would make only the city with this size... unless they wanted to make a full scale Los Angeles.

And also, different from what many people said before, I don't believe Los Santos (only the city!) is much bigger than it's already visible. If this map is geographically acurate, the only parts that seem to be cut are the Vinewood Hills and part of the LS Port.
