I read through the first half of this topic, and even then this has been pointed out, but I have to say it anyways. The map they have revealed is only of the city itself. Based on past comparisons, and even the comparisons made in this topic alone, the size of the land Los Santos takes up looks roughly the same size as the land Liberty City took up. That is the city itself and nothing more. There is confirmed to be much more space outside the city, approximately 3-4 times the size of the city itself if the previews have been accurate.

Rockstar originally said the map was RD+LC+SA combined if you include the underwater areas and interiors. This is the city only, not the whole map. The whole map is much larger. Rockstar didn't lie. Look at the pictures. The city looks huge. This map is just the city.

To the people saying we don't know this is Los Santos, look again. In this thread alone there is a comparison of a picture that shows its within this map, and that picture clearly shows the buildings of Los Santos. And come on. This city looks huge. Do you really think it's a smaller side city?

Shiit, why the f*ck is everyone complaining. The map looks small when you first look at it but when you take some measurements then you find that the city is equal in size to the landmass of LC. Then there is the bits of the city that haven't been shown, not to mention that the city is only about a third of the landmass.

f*cks sake, people these days are retarded.

Los santos looks... small:O

But if I recall correctly, Rockstar have said that LS is as big as Liberty City, so if LS looks that small there, the map is HUGE. LC wasn't the smallest place of all(well not the biggest either..), and I'm pretty sure there's alot of countryside and desert in the upper parts of the map.

If you look at the the streets and blocks and try to imagine Micheal running around there it does seem kinda small. Los Santos looks like the Dukes portion of Liberty City, maybe a little bigger, but small nonetheless. In real life, Los Angeles is way bigger than New York in vastness. The fact that Liberty City is what we have to forward to is a little unsettling. I'm glad that we'll have mountains and country to explore but I really wanted a giant single-massed metropolis to be immersed in. There's still a portion uncovered on the upper right, but I doubt it's anything to get excited about.

I have estimated the total size of the blueprint to be MAXIMUM of 61 sq km - 23 sq miles.

This is based on the assumption the grid squares are 1 km squared.

Now the only way the blueprint can be LARGER than 23 sq miles is if the grid squares are LARGER than 1 km squared.

Look at the map and one of the grid squares, do you really think they are larger than 1 km?

If anything I think they actually seem smaller in my opinion, but I think an estimate of 1 km squared is as good as any.

It's actually about 80-85% the size of LC, it's fairly large. And we still haven't seen the southern edges.

shows the scale of the city. Its a bit weird though. this small circle has alot of houses in it and looks pretty small on the map. but then there are even less "blocks" than in GTA4

Wow, thanks a lot for posting this. When you look at the map, LS seems to be about the size of it in SA, but this shows otherwise. Was scared for a minute, there mercie_blink.gif

Ya man..When i first saw LS i was like what the f*ck!!! But then once i calmed down i saw this pic and i was like monocle.gif The city is f*cking huge!

thats a great find keep posting guys icon14.gifbiggrin.gificon14.gif

Great post, this should shut up any of the doubters.

Why is everyone ignoring the obvious piece that continues at the bottom? Those roads don't just go into the ocean for Christ's sake. suicidal.gif

That road comes to a halt shortly after. That southern area is the Long Beach harbor; docks and shipyards, there's nothing but ocean after that.

Well it looks like people finally come to agree with my topic I made weeks ago about how small LS really is:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=547671&st=0

Nope.

Again you and persons that argue that Los Santos is too small still haven't come up with a difinative alternative size

because you've all got different ideas of how big Los Santos should be and what should be in it. You cant call be correct

therefore your argument can't be taken seriously.

Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god

PLEASE tell me that rectangle does not signify the map borders, and is just a partial portion of the map.

I am pretty f*cking disappointing with the size of the map. That doesn't look nearly like 3.5 RDRs

Sorry for the big picture, don't know how to scale it down in a post. Anyway, I tried to put together Libery City, SA Los Santos and this one, based on road line width. It's not pixel perfect but I think I did get pretty close. I watched for both highways and normal two-way streets. It seems it is pretty much as big as LC, only with different layout which somehow makes it seem smaller.

dam you ppl complain about everything! youve only seen a piece of a corner of a map & now everyone is a geographical scientist with a measuring stick disputing what the entire map consists of. good grief. september 17th will answer ALL your questions & put all these ridiculous speculations 2 bed.

What? It's just the city 0_0 or at least most of it. We don't even know if its the latest map model too.

We know the size of the blueprint map, this is important.

Please read my post on last page near the top and get back to me.

Yes because its on ebgames and not rockstars sites its not authentic, where's your confirmation/source that debunks this fraudulent image?

It has been debunked a couple of times on this forums, I think it was also debunked in the Mapping thread. Can't give you any links cuz I don't have them bookmarked...

Edit: @UnK_oh, nice spot !

We don't know the map portions pictured are to scale. Look at the edge of the rolled map and you'll see that it is folded over lengthwise (that's a guess about orientation). The city pictured could very well only be on half of the map. Look for yourself. http://www.rockstargames.com/V/img/global/...ectors-full.jpg This would mean that everything speculated so far is only half of the total size!
