Niick99
What exactly does it mean when R* said that the game is based on real time? That would be cool if im playing it during christmas and you can see holiday stuff in the game, but maybe im just overthinking it.

GTASeriesFan
It just means the game is in year 2013. Like San Andreas was in 1992 and Vice City was 1986 I think. GTA 3 and 4 were in the year they were released in (2001 & 2008). GTASeriesFan

CryptReaperDorian
It might be extended "hours" on the clock. In most previous GTA games, an in-game hour is about one real world minute. With GTA IV, GTA EFLC, and maybe GTA CW, that "in-game hour" was doubled to two real world minutes.
Liberty2k7
Real time within the media is a method of narratology wherein events are portrayed at the same rate that the audience experiences them. For example, if a movie told in real time is two hours long, then the plot of that movie covers two hours of fictional time. This is a strange addition to GTA if that's what it means, I.e. each in-game day takes 24 hours. Although the previews also said about moving time forward during character switches to move the narrative, so this could maybe be a way to skip time forward if needed.
