A lot of smaller devs being bought up by mega publishers or just fade away seems to be an all to common theme these days. I hope things get better soon, I really do. But, I see no end in sight. The only companies that seem to stay afloat are companies that have the AAA mega hit titles(ie R*, Bethesda, Valve, EA, Ubisoft,etc.) Tis' a bleak future ahead. They gaming industry isn't dead as long as open world games like sleeping dogs, watch dogs, skyrim and GTA keep being produced, if they can somehow fix Assassins Creed then that too. I was over at the EA offices earlier this week just to try to get an interview regarding next gen when I overheard an employee talking about a buyout and then he mentioned r* games. Do you really think the Housers will quit making a game that brings them as much money as this? Never before has a game been made that appeals to so many people, in so many demographics. Grand Theft Auto is Rockstar's number on franchise and most probably their best selling franchise. I'm a huge GTA fan, but I think that's because GTA is an open world 3rd person shooter developed by R*. If they stop making GTA, they'll still make games that are similar, so I wouldn't mind. blakeney Posted May 23, 2013 Share Posted May 23, 2013 Has everyone forgot the time EA very nearly brought TakeTwo (R*'s owners for the fools), which would obviously mean R* and GTA WOULD'VE been owned by EA! The only thing between EA and a closed deal was the TakeTwo shareholders... i remember sh*tting a brick, at the end of the day, it would've been profit for the shareholders... so it was like a test of my faith in humanity! The shareholders collectively restored my faith by deciding it was best for TT/R*/GTA that EA didn't buy, and that was the end of that!
