Floating green dollar.

Now, obviously everyone knows what I'm talking about considering this is a GTA forum.

Just finished playing a bit of GTA4 and I was thinking... why do people actually die and release this object on the floor ? Is this really the only way they can do it?

Maybe it is, I don't hate the system as it's in every GTA game since 3*? but why can't they at least say... make it easier for the player.

look back at GTA:SA when you were low on money at the start of that game you would look for a drug dealer kill him and rob up his green dollar, but why did it come out of him like blood ? literally had about 15 green dollars floating around him... why not just release it from him in one stash ? - stopping you from having to actually run around this dead person 18 times to pick up everything, then one last look around to make sure you did get everything. It is just really long winded.

I just... I don't know.

Does anyone else have an issue with it ?

Is there actually anyway of improving it....?

Would you rather have to loot each person like Red Dead Redemption?

The sound it makes when you pick up a wedge of cash is so satisfying that they decided it should be that way.

I noticed the sound of picking up money in GTAIV is the same sound as the past gta's (I think).

I have a feeling that there will be a looting system similar to red dead redemption. No more floating cash.

Hopefully it doesn't have that annoying camera angle like Red Dead, that made me stop looting things.

Hunting animals is confirmed... which makes me wonder if skinning them is also in gta5? why would they have a skinning animation and not a looting one ?

if skinning is in gta5... and there is no animation for it are we just going to presume that the skin just floats around the dead animal till you pick it up - like the money ? lol

I belive that the reason for there being so many stacks of dollars is to represent how much money you're getting from the ped you've killed. There's no little pop up telling how much you picked up, so to represent there being more money than any other ped would have, it spills out in multiple stacks. Also, I think it's a lot more satisfying to pick up like 11 wads of cash as opposed to 1, don't you?

This has been the justification in other games (which I won't name) that involve killing things and "looting" the items/money/candy that pops out. It was justified by developers/programmers that the ensuing "loot explosion" was visually more satisfying than constrained amounts of loot, or auto-looting (not having to click (PC) or walk over items to gather them).

Not saying I agree with it.

Why add in an unnecessary step? You walk over a guy, and you pick up his stuff. Simple. There's no reason to make it more complicated than that. I don't even like looting in Skyrim, and that genre is built on looting among other things.

I would. It makes the most sense.

Well not really no.

It tells you how much you collected from that one person. so me picking up one stash of $ that equals $500... to 15 stashes which equals the same amount. I would rather just to one tbh.

especially in GTA4 walking is a bitch picking up 15 stashes of $$$ takes ages.

Look at it another way.. you kill someone who just used a ATM machine, you kill him you gain one star police, is behind you. now you have to run. If it was just one stash you would be able to pick it up and lose the police at the same time.

Well if you're going for annoying realism, sure. But what would this add to the game other than pressing buttons to wait for animations to complete to get stuff from dead bodies or having to do 10 minutes of math for every guy you kill just to make sure that you get the gun with the highest ballistics rating?

I honestly don't think we will be able to skin animals. It's not 1909 anymore.

Yes, I would. It was really satisifying after a huge gunfight to walk around looting peoples' corpses while onlookers watched in horror. biggrin.gif Just adds insult to injury. Like John Marston says, "First they kill ya, then they rob ya!"

I think it would be cool to be able to hunt animals and be able to collect meat, set up a camp and cook it to regain health.

Sorry for being off topic.

In Past GTAs, weapons/money float and are easier to see, weapons come in different colors depending on the weapon class, while money is in green.

In IV, the law of physics is actually there! both weapons and money are on the ground, IMO i don't like that all weapons are in orange, the money is guess what? green....green rocks lol.gif

While In RDR 2 (RDR 1 = Red Dead Revolver), with weapons you see it dropping from the enemies's hand! and with money you have to loot.

personally Redemption's system is the best. smile.gif

I'd rather have floating bills than a looting animation.

In RDR I always had the problem of "Hmm.. which guys have I already looted and which ones do I still need to?" Also, the animation was annoying sometimes..

In GTA it is fun to crash into a guy with your car and see money appear. You're like "MONEY!!!" and try and get it all. :3

What f*cking kind of money is your game dropping for you, that would require ages to pick up? Is it like the bank truck, but applied to every ped ingame?

We all know that there are two RDRs, nobody likes a smartass sarcasm.gif

OT: The system from RDR seems the best to me. Also permits certain other things to be picked up (without having to model it), like drugs or ammo. Maybe drugs can be sold like in CTW? By Trevor of course. If so, then why not have low-lifes carry some?

Its more challenging collecting floating bills, what if some fall off a cliff? you then have to try and receive or just leave it. RDRs system was kinda repetitive.

Yeah I agree with having it be looting animation but have each character do it their own way. Would seem more gangsta and realistic plus you can run away faster instead of walking in circles like a dumbass for seconds lol

Pro Redemption looting style. Also, in IV, money doesn't "float" like it did in the III era. It's a fact. Look closer at it next time. Don't say it still floats because it's wrong as well as annoying. Thank you.

Please let there be green glowing cash and please get rid of the annoying 'hong' noise when you pick it up. Make it the SA one that goes 'BIIP'

As for RDR looting style - Aw hell no

In RDR there was an "x" on the minimap for each corpse, that you did not loot, so check that when you play it the next time around. monocle.gif

OT: To me it does not make any difference. It would underline the realism and physicality of money, but I could live with the same system as previous gtas.

What?? lol.

And to the guy who said it doesn't float, I know it doesn't float. But all other GTAs it did. It's just easier to say floating so everyone knows what I'm talking about.

Also, don't fix something that isn't broken. Yeah sure, but the system can easily be improved. By simply make less pour out of people and just collect it in bulk so you don't ever miss any.

Guns should be label with colours as someone already said, I like that idea. All guns coloured orange is actually kinda annoying when you think about it, makes you look at every gun for no reason.
