corvettelover
Specs: Intel Core-i3 2100 3.10ghz 6gb DDR3 ram HIS ICEQ Turbo 6790 GDDR5 1GB Windows 7 64bit Catalyst WHQL 13.4 w/ CAPS Okay, I did not have this problem until I tried the 13.5 Catalyst beta drivers, now since I tried the driver I get a black screen lockup within 10 seconds to 30minutes of watching video (TV shows, Hulu, Netflix..ect). Temps are normal, 35c-40c when watching videos. (just incase someone asked) Any idea's? I completely (registery, user folders..ect) removed the beta drivers, but it still persists. Games and everything else work perfectly. The PC sounds normal when it locks up, the screen goes black and you can't do anything so a hard reset is needed. For some reason it doesn't seem to do it much/at all when using Internet Explorer. I hope a format isn't needed, but I had a similar problem before I believe (posted it here I think) and a format was the only thing that fixed it. I completely removed all Adobe programs also and reinstalled them hoping it would fix it.
Wolf68k
If you're still on the beta drivers, then roll back to the previous drivers. If the driver installer has an option for a clean install, be sure to use that. If not then try using Driver Sweeper (WARNING: this will try to install extra software you don't need, be sure to use the advance/custom/"whatever they call it" option to avoid this). Steps to use DS: Download the latest official drivers Uninstall the drivers using Programs & Features Restart into SafeMode Run DS to clear out all of the AMD/ATI video drivers. Restart to normal mode and install official drivers.

But I guess it can't hurt to try what you suggested, I'll probably do that tonight and post back then. Thanks
unc13bud
have you tried vlc for videos? both they and media player classic have a reset setting function during installation.
corvettelover
Hmm, disabled HW acceleration on Firefox and Flash and all seems fine now. Appears to be a fairly common issue with the newer flash. I'll post back if it happens again, but it appears my issue is fixed. I tried the VLC player, but it just said to install flash. Thanks all! Wolf68k
Which version of Flash do you have? Are you sure it's up to date?
corvettelover
Which version of Flash do you have? Are you sure it's up to date? Completely up to date, even removed all Adobe software, restarted, and went to their website to download the latest versions. All seems good so far with HW acceleration turned off, not a single lockup or anything. Come to think of it, I think with a certain Flash version my Android phone did that sometimes too when watching videos.
