(Hypothetical Q):Would U Buy GTA5 If No MultiP?

Games that used to be SP only and recently switched to MP will always be remembered as a SP game. In fact, I'd rather have had R* put the resources they used up on MP into SP, even though they've gotten me curious about the overhauled MP they've come up with.

GTA for me has always been about single player. I played IV online once and it was only for 10 minutes. I'll try it out on V but if they took it out I wouldn't give a f*ck.

I wouldn't miss it. I'm sure most who love the series enough to join a forum have played GTA long before MP was even a common experience in this industry. I'm personally not a fan of MP because I never liked to game socially. It's more of a personal entertainment thing for me. I did enjoy GTAIV's online experience more than any other MP though.

 

 

On the other hand, the multiplayer experience seems so watered down and basic from game to game, that R* has the creative and technical ability to grace the industry with some quality play that has never been seen. GTAIV proved this and that game was just a dry run. It just couldn't take off because everyone had a hard-on for COD. COD seems to be cooling down in terms of reception with the more mature fans. V's MP can do great things. Just don't include a pussy ass killer cam .

I grew up playing GTA games without multiplayer, so I don't really feel a need for it. It's just a plus.

Im getting V for the storyline and single player.

 

IV online maybe gave me ... 4-5 hours of extra gameplay.

SA-MP though, that's another story. I still play it regulary since 2008. It's just different you know, you get much more variety and you can roleplay, deathmatch, free roam, there's everything for everyone.

 

I wouldn't be disappointed if there wasn't a multiplayer/online mode but, since Rockstar said they are going to redefine the idea of mp... let's see...

We all know multiplayer will be in GTA 5 and GTA's to come, but someone on here said "people who play online should just leave," and suggested that in 2013, GTA V would thrive wihtout multiplayer especially if its omission meant more space for a better single player game.

 

I just want to gauge everyone's thoughts on GTA multiplayer and its role in your purchase of the game.

I would but wouldn't be the same without MP, I mean if this MP really is a big change, specially in terms of security ... I enjoyed IV MP for the first 2 weeks, it was fun to play with friends but got tired fast because of cheaters. I'm expecting a huge leap from what IV MP was in every aspect.

 

They developed the game SP since 2008, I guess these last months will be for the MP, so the SP won't be harmed by this in any way.

The only reason I'm going online is to troll in GTA Races so I wouldn't mind if there wasn't any online mods. GTA IV Multiplayer was bullsh*t because of hackers... Still I can't wait to see the improvement for GTA V online. I'm such a fan of the storylines by Rockstar I would buy the game anyway but it would be kinda sad.

I honestly wish GTA had no multiplayer at all. I guess I am selfish. I don't like multiplayer. I tried online once before with a free Xbox Live weekend. It's full of a bunch of 13 year olds trolling and saying a bunch of racial slurs. I am more than happy just playing by myself and not having multiplayer would mean more development resources spent on making the game more incredible.

Why would they be lying ? I can tell you right now that I tried GTA IV's multiplayer just once. After that I did not play it again, ever. One, it's was rubbish, and two, I just did not find it exciting to play MP in GTA anyway.

 

It's very possible I would not even have tried it all, I really have no interest in GTA MP at all, I play it only for the single player experience as I have done since GTA III.

Yes, I would still buy it. Multi player is very much a take it or leave it thing with me. I recently bought and sold God of War Ascension without playing online, my football game of choice is PES and I only that online for the trophies, as soon as I have them, never again. I don't mind racing games online, NFS's, Burnout etc.

 

On IV, I hit multi player in the phone by accident, and thought "meh, why not, I will give it a try" and I have to admit, I did like it, but only really liked single deathmatch and races. Never got into the cops & robbers, or gta race, or anything else. It would not matter to me though if it was in or out. I will spend most of my time in single player.

If for no other reason than just that playing a Private Game on Live would allow you to use your Multiplayer Avatar and keep Roman from calling you.

 

Had a lot of fun just using my MP Avatar with traffic turned Off or Low and racing through the streets

I voted the 2nd option. I would still buy it even without multiplayer, but I would feel as if a huge opportunity would be lost if there was none given the type of map GTA V has.

 

I spent hours upon hours with my buddies playing GTA IV multiplayer because it was fun. Of course a game having multiplayer or not isn't apart of my primary thinking, but truth be told it would be disappointing in a way.

Hell yeah I would buy it, but I would be disappointed for not being able to mess around in multiplayer with friends.

Also, if there will not be multiplayer in V, someone will probably create MP mod, like in SA.

I'd still buy it for sure but id be a bit upset. Going into a free mode game and just f*cking around with 3,4 or 5 friends was always an absolute blast. Some of the best moments i had on IV was multiplayer. I'm glad they are making it even better for V
