(Hypothetical Q):Would U Buy GTA5 If No MultiP?

We all know multiplayer will be in GTA 5 and GTA's to come, but someone on here said "people who play online should just leave," and suggested that in 2013, GTA V would thrive wihtout multiplayer especially if its omission meant more space for a better single player game.

 

I just want to gauge everyone's thoughts on GTA multiplayer and its role in your purchase of the game.

I don´t really care for MP. I have played GTA IV since it came out, nowadays not so frequently, and I have only entered multiplayer once. One of the reasons is that several of my friends don´t even own gaming consoles and secondly, there is too much awesome stuff in SP or at least it will be in the kick-ass V.

I'd still buy it but yeah, I'd be disappointed if it were gone. I like goofing with the cops, peds and physics with my buddy. I don't want to imagine not being able to drive a car off of a building and land on his head.

I'd still love GTA and buy it but i would be upset if MP was gone. Rockstar know how to handle MP in a GTA game. IV was the first HD GTA game, so idiotic people bash online without reasoning. V's MP is going to be revolutionary.

After IV it would definatly be a kick in the nuts, but YES I would still buy it, it'd probably be an even bigger game if MP wasn't on there.

 

I love the SP of GTAs and IV is the only one that had MP for me.

I've been gaming around 22+ years before online in games was even about. GTA 3 got me into GTA games and that never had online yet I still bought it. The reason 'm buying V or any game for that matter is for the single player. Doesn't matter if the game has online or not to me as most the time I play it and get bored after five minutes. With Red Dead Redemption I spent most my time online in free roam going about my own thing and ignoring other people. I preferred it that way.

Of course I'd still buy it. Honestly, who here wouldn't? Multiplayer has never been a big part of GTA. It's cool, sure, and I actually love GTA IV's minimalistic approach to multiplayer which I think V will continue with a number of improvements, but most of us have played GTAs before IV and we know that they're totally worth it just for the single-player, especially if the single-player is even better lacking the inclusion of multiplayer. Multiplayer in GTA is more of a perk than a necessary feature. I want it to be there, but it's not a factor in my desire to purchase the game.

I could care less about the multiplayer of a grand theft auto game being jettisoned.

That does not mean I don't play multiplayer though. I get a lot of fun out of it.

I'd be a little upset because I had a blast with GTA IV and RDR's multiplayer, but as long as the singleplayer experience is everything a GTA should be I'll eat it up with or without multiplayer.

That all said, both from myself and the other posters in this thread, I won't say that I wouldn't care at all if the game were to lack multiplayer. It would be a bit of a disappointment, because even though I'm not a big multiplayer fan myself, it would be a huge missed opportunity given the size and variety of the map, the huge amount of vehicles and weapons, etc. I could definitely see myself popping in free-roam every once in a while. Again, I seriously doubt that it would effect anyone from this forum's willingness to purchase GTA V, but I would be thinking, "Why not?".

I think this is the general consensus.

 

I'd want free roam in there, but if it wasn't, I'd definitely still buy the game. Especially if it meant a more vibrant, detailed single player world. I'm not talking about more missions either, just more stuff to do in single player and more realistic demographics (neighborhoods), pedestrian behavior, etc. I hope that level of open-world detail is much improved in 5.

I honestly don't care about multiplayer, but I'd still prefer it was there even if I didn't use it. Anything to keep people playing the game is a good thing & encourages people to hang on to their copy (I'm talking about the more casual crowd).

 

If there was no multiplayer, then there would be more time & resources applied to other parts of the game. Nothing major mind, just a few extra single player features.

Yes, i would buy Gta V in a heart beat, i wouldn't even blink an eye if MP was gone.

Of course I'd still buy it, but like all the other games that havelittle no mp, I'd be done with it quickly. Mp is what maximizes player creativity, npc's won't participate in made up games and adventures and, they eventually become predictable which diminishes replay value.

Just because the mp in IV wasn't that great doesnt mean it will suck in this installment, if anything it will be the prefect compliment to the single player story. Gang wars in max payne 3 is a great idea and I'm curious to see what Rockstar has added since that mode was a basic template of things to come. I've played gw so many times i know where the objectives and spawns are, i hope they increase the randomness this time around.
