Jordan_Philip
Below is a quick list of skill traits and some possible uses for them. Most of them I understand but there are a couple I'm not too sure about. Skill traits that make sense: Shooting- improved accuracy, faster reloading Lung Capacity- increased amount of time available to stay under water without scuba gear Stealth - ability to walk more quiet and control breathing better. Possibley able to prevent objects from falling and making noise if accidentally bumped into while sneaking around. Strength - helps when climbing or fighting Stamina - run and swim longer distances Skill traits that do not make sense: Driving- does this mean it will go back to the way it was in SA? Every car will have no grip on the road until you increase your slill level? I feel like thats kinda lame because I'm the one controlling it not some programmed character with no experience. Flying - same thing here? Will the planes turn tighter when my skill is increased? The only thing I can think of that would work is if there are certain planes you cant fly until you have a high enough skill level Mechanic - I havent figured this one out yet. Is this one still included? I think thats all of them. Any opinions on the driving and flying?
Freezer89
Mechanic: Fixing your car, tuning(?), opening safes, breaking in houses (or cars - like that you'll be able to hotwire faster if you got more mechanic skill) , skill with your hands Flying and driving: Well, it's simple. The more you drive or fly the better you can handle it. Franklin will be always slightly better in driving as Trevor will in flying. I think you'll be able to fly any planes from start on but your experience will be basically non-existent and you'll need to learn or whatever. Why would the same exact car handle better or worse depending on which character I use? I'm the one in control not the character. Thats why they didnt put that trait in IV. Rockstar said in an interview with Game Informer that it wouldnt make sense for a skill set because the player will learn the new driving physics at their own pace. Yeah, I am not really sure about that either.. at least all three characters will share the skills (except for the specials obviously). So no matter with who(m?) you drive your skill will be raised for all three chars. Perhaps Franklin has more control over the car or is more familiar with sportcars.. I dunno. This is one of the few things I am still wondering how it will be implemented into the game. It's not really a concern though.

Let's remember that, in real life, all cars and planes handle slightly different from each other no matter how similar. Especially when you consider the age of a vehicle too. While GTAV may not go as in-depth as knowing how many miles any given car you jack has on it, an SUV handles different than a Mustang, an F-18 different than a Boeing 747, etc depending on that vehicle's "personality" you could say. Those are obvious. But then you take into account individual skill and things like manual vs. auto. If I jump into a car and drive off, my lack of experience will cause me to handle it differently than someone like Franklin who is used to driving a variety of cars all the time and same of Trevor with planes. Basically, I believe it will simply boil down to cars and planes handling easier from them compared to Michael whereas I believe, Michael would have that type of advantage from the sights of a gun. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if on top of the default car handling stats, they increase or decrease depending on who's driving or flying and what their current level is. It takes practice to get the feel of any vehicle and I think we'll see that Franklin and Trevor simply having expertise behind their chosen mode of transportation simply eases the learning curve for the player. I believe they did this simply to ensure you would expirience the game with all 3 protags, rather than just one. If each one had the same skill set from the get-go, you would pick the one closest to your likeness, and play through the entire game as that single character. But now, with the skills in place, you have to branch out, I assume, to meet certain requirements for missions. You can't win a race for money with Michael, so you have to use Franklin. You can't fly a plane through hoops and do barrel rolls as Frank, so you'll have to use Trevor. The dynamic of the three amigo's is pointless if you do not force the players hand to use them all at one point or another.
Jordan_Philip
Yea i guess i get that. Make all the characters feel different. Maybe even landing planes will be tougher with franklin and michael. All i ever hear is thats one of the hardest parts of flying
