wwinterj
Do you think it will be your new favourite? Vice City is my favorite been a 80s child and other reasons so no. I do believe it'll be the best GTA game this gen though and may even surpass San Andreas that is my second favorite and held as the best GTA game to date by a lot of people. You can disagree or agree but San Andreas is the GTA game R* need to surpass. IV didn't do that.

Sa's cities were shadows of what they could be. No rideable mass transit (introduced ingta2) and so much potential just left bland. I do love sa, but I love IV and vc more. In my mind, rocksta lacked too much into sa and took a step backward in terms of quality Normal service was resumed with IV but I worry that v will be a big game At lesser quality (though its at least more detailed than sa) The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. wwinterj
In my opinion R* has already surpassed SA with IV, and will surpass IV with V. Either way as I said it all boils down the the same thing. GTA V has every chance of been the best GTA to date but won't surpass my personal favorite that is Vice City. I don't feel the need to write "in my opinion" everytime I make a post because it's obvious it's my opinion.
The Dark Knight
Each game in the series surpasses the previous by leaps and bounds. RDR while not technically a GTA game, is part of the series in term of Rockstar developing the open world genre. RDR is my favorite, a masterpiece. It's still a bit sad to think about John riding home to finally see his family while you listen to the song "Compass." "The only compass that I need, is the one, that leads back to you." Miss Darko
There's very little doubt in my mind that it will. I don't think it'll be perfect, in that there may be some things that I preferred how it was done in a previous GTA game, but as a whole I think it will surpass any previous GTA game I've played. It's a game that will definitely be much more than just the sum of its parts, and boy does GTA V look to have a lot of parts. I think that, with the largest variety of vehicles and weapons along with the largest and potentially most diverse map, with the best graphics and game mechanics a GTA has had, it can be said to be objectively the best GTA. Of course there's some subjectivity here, and a little more to it than just the features in the game. Does the largest variety of weapons include weapons I missed from GTA: SA like Satchel charges, flamethrowers, chainsaws, and tear gas? There's a possibility that it doesn't. Supposedly it has the most radio stations of any previous GTA as well. Will I like the music? Are the talk shows going to be any good? That's also subjective and up for consideration. The map being mostly countryside might seem unbalanced to some, although personally I'm looking forward to it. But again, that's just up to one's opinion. But for me, I like just about everything I've heard about the game. I love that it has so much stuff and such a big map with lots of countryside and small towns along with a big city. I love that we can fly fast jets and dive into the ocean with a submarine, an ocean that will be full of life and detail that may make it the first videogame underwater that's fun to explore (here's hoping). I love that, on a dime, I can switch between three very different characters, instead of being confined to one person the entire game (which I never minded, but now I can choose and that's just plain cool). I love that the shooting mechanics are just like MP3's and that the driving will be a refined version of GTA IV's. I love that I will be able to customize every vehicle with a system supposedly on par with MC:LA's, as well as customize the characters themselves to my liking. And, honestly, I love that I'll be able to do slow-motion sh*t with Michael and Franklin. My feelings in regards to 50% health regeneration are also fairly positive, although I can understand the annoyance among more hardcore GTA fans. I love the atmosphere of the game from what we've seen. I think that the story is going to be very interesting and entertaining. I've not played the game yet obviously, but from what we seen and what we have been told, it's shaping up to be plain awesome. So GTA V sounds almost perfect for me. Again, maybe there's some things that aren't great. Like I said earlier, maybe it won't have some weapons I'd like to have had, and maybe the talk stations aren't as funny as the ones in IV. There could be some issues that might actually be kind of a bummer. But hell, I dealt with a lot of things missing in IV that were in the previous game, and IV is probably my favorite GTA, due to its overall improvement over the last installation (I'll admit that I occasionally go back and forth between SA and IV being my favorite, I simply love both for different reasons). Overall, even though I loved GTA IV, the phrase "it can be any worse than IV" is still applicable, because I feel that V will keep almost everything that made IV good in addition to the things that made previous GTA's good as well, especially SA. Ultimately time will tell. It's 100% for sure that GTA V will be my favorite for long time due to the sheer novelty. But whether it will stand the test of time as I'm able to view it more objectively... I still think so. There's just too much it's doing right for me to think otherwise. YoungChrist
my ballsack is flat as a pancake from so much fapping. You masturbate to videogame footage and screenshots? That sounds like a severe sexual disfunction. Have you considered seeing a psychiatrist? Usually teenage boys your age are masturbating to images/videos of nude women, not videogames. The fact that you would share such personal details on a public forum is also disturbing. It response to the OP - SA was my favorite, but I think V will surpass it. Reactions like this is why I do it, thankyou sir. That still doesn't explain why you would give such personal, and deeply disturbing, information on a public forum. It actually does, see hes doing it to generate a response. He has trolled you.

CalgaryJay
Ya, maybe its not fair to R*, but I'm fully expecting GTA V to become my favourite game of all-time, at the very least for this generation anyway (right now its RDR). All the hype combined with the 2 year wait = crazy high expectations by me.
S1LV3R_W0LF
Definitely, I play GTA since GTA1 from DMA and even if GTAIV was a huge leap my favorite still is GTA SA, not because of the Gangsta Theme like so many, it was cool but not the main for me, the huge map the variety of landscape and all the freedom we had made it the best GTA experience for me, now GTA V looks like it will replace it easier. Blingy
I don't think anything will match my initial thrill from GTAIII, but every new GTA has become my new favorite. QFT^ III to me was just the essential GTA. It was the first round with a new gen. system, and it was the first game to publicly get announced in the news. Ask any GTA fan where the series took off, and the obvious answer will be III. It paved the way for us humans to do what we've always wanted to do without repercussions. The storyline was unmatched (maybe with VC), the atmosphere was unbeatable, the big-time actors they did get were amazing, and it MADE the sandbox genre. GTAIII was the lighter that lit the match under everybodies asses in the media. Had they left the beta, and just released that. I'm pretty certain III would be a unicorn now, with how gregarious it was. Edited May 21, 2013 by Blingy

oblivionskate
my favorite is Vice City, I hope GTA V can pass it. zeppelincheetah
Probably. If the story really doesn't hold up, as it didn't in GTA IV I might not put it on top. But gameplay-wise for sure. My fav is GTA III btw, with San Andreas 2nd and Chinatown Wars 3rd.

Masher8559
It has to beat San Andreas to become my favourite. SAMP is absolutely brilliant have played more hours online on Samp than Most other GTA's put together. That said, i fully expect to be blown away with GTA V and suspect it will instantly become my new favourite. I'm at risk of disappointing my self with such high expectations but i think GTA V can pull it off.
Travís.
jeez, this running joke about masturbating to a computer game screenshot is getting OLD! Yes, it probably will be my favorite, but the joke of fapping? That just makes you guys seem pathetic. Come on, you're better than that arent you? I respect your opinion, however to me it is you who seems pathetic for seeing so much into a 'fapping' joke. It's part of Australian humour to be crude, so please excuse. f*ck yeah. Triple Vacuum Seal
The most fun? Yes. The best? Probably not. We really can't say until we play for ourselves. By my standards, GTA isn't just some toy to keep me entertained. Though fun features have a hand in the game's overall ranking, V has to be artful to rub shoulders with titles like Vice City. In fact, V would have to be based in the whole SoCal region, Mexico, include suburbs, elaborate empire building, and have all of the features we've confirmed for me to blindly call it the best without playing it. Only then would V be the best just from it's features alone. "shut up, sit down, relax"
