PerNilsson
Hello my name is Per Nilsson and I am new to this forum. I have played GTA for a very long time. I only play GTA IV for the moment but was a big player of SA on the xbox. Alltrough I dont play as much as before I still play games 5h a week. Now to my problem, when I play on the computer i mostly drift with the modded volvo 242 (yes I am from sweden). And it would be really nice to make the tire marks never disapper. It doesent have to save when I close the program but reamening when I drive. So my question is if anybody know how to mod gta to this. I know how to fix with files but don't know how to find the parameter that changes the value of the tire mark. Would really appriciate if someone could help me. Thanks in advance Per Nilsson
jpm1
that kind of thing has been made like this to lighten game workload . this is the same with glass debris , abandoned cars etc . IMHO i don't think this is a good idea to mod the game that way
PerNilsson
I understand, but that isnt a problem for me trust me. But do you know how to do it? And do you know how to make a car smoke black from the exhaust?
jpm1
i don't know how to do this , but this is not a question of hardware . if your sollicitate too much the game you'll get bugs . for the exaust you need to add a flag at the end of the vehicle line in vehicles.ide (GTAIV\common\data) file http://www.lcpdfr.com/topic/11266-vehicleside-flags/

Thanks in advance Per Nilsson Hey Per Nilsson, welcome to the forum. I understand what you're asking for and honestly I don't know how to get it done. I think it was mostly done because of the limitations of the 360 and PS3, or maybe limitations to the game engine itself. But then again the RAGE engine is pretty powerful. I wish I could help you on that but I can't.. sorry.. As for your second request, just go into the vehicles.ide and at the end of the car you want to change, simply add to the very end of the line. ext_requi+bangerexhaustfx Or if that's not exactly what you're looking for, try this: truckexhaustfx So here's an example with the first line: feltzer, feltzer, car, FELTZER, FELTZER, [email protected], [email protected]_CONV, 100, 999, 0.2660, 0.2660, 0, 5, 1.0 ,0, ext_requi+bangerexhaustfx Here's the other example: feltzer, feltzer, car, FELTZER, FELTZER, [email protected], [email protected]_CONV, 100, 999, 0.2660, 0.2660, 0, 5, 1.0 ,0, truckexhaustfx The difference between the two is, the first one will have black exhaust when the car is standing still and when in low speeds. The second will have black exhaust every time the car changes gears. Edited May 22, 2013 by brootalperry
PerNilsson
Hello and thanks for the reply! I was searching trouh files today and found this \Grand Theft Auto IV\common\data\effects\vehicleFx.dat Can this file have anything to do with this. And one more question, can you make the exhaust smoke biggger and blacker?
RyanBurnsRed
Oh I looked in there and it looks to be what you're looking for. I'm not sure how anything works in there but make sure you make a backup of that file before you change anything in there. As for making the smoke black and bigger, there probably is a way somewhere in the game files but you know...I don't really go poking around. Just save the originals in a folder on your desktop or something so you can restore them if anything goes wrong. Do you have the game on Steam as well?
