universetwisters
I was reading the new preview...again, and I noted that they said that climbing up the Vinewood sign would get the player a wanted level if they were caught. Is it really illegal to climb up the Hollywood sign in real life? I can imagine if you're caught, the police can pin trespassing on you, but isn't the sign public property? Also, what's on top of the Vinewood sign, and what makes it worth the climb?
Raavi
Just like it's illegal to climb the Hollywood sign, there nothing up there but a view of LS/LA. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise
Red XIII
Its because the Hollywood sign is made out of harry potters magic wand and harry's wand is made out of holly wood. Also there is a pot of gold up there.

blakeney
Hey, at least it's not as bad as getting a 4-star wanted level for driving on an Airport runway. Im pretty sure it was you i saw bring that up before... honestly, drive to heathrow, find the freight depot... smash your car through its barriers (or blag your way in..w/e) then proceed to drive your car towards then runway area... should you actually get that far without getting the terrorist treatment, you are lucky and now driving on the runway... you will then get the full terrorist treatment and have a hard time walking away from it with nothing. I think 4-stars is perfectly realistic lol.... OT: I should imagine it's the sort of thing teens do regular, if caught by the police they are probably given a stern word about the dangers etc etc and that is about it. (not from or been to USA so i might be wrong, some might argue they would get tazed no questions?) But i guss if you climbed it to make a political point (for example hanging a "Fathers for Justice" banner over the H) in this day and age the terrorism/ threat to state card would get played to make a point in the media. Scampi
I remember watching a show on the history of the Hollywood sign a little over a year ago. Turned it on specifically to learn more since it was right after the first GTA V trailer was released. IIRC it said the police do routine fly-overs of the sign when they're already out on helicopter patrol just to check for trespassers. Obviously they don't want people up there vandalizing or damaging the sign, and it would be a huge liability if more people got up there and either jumped or fell off. The sad thing is... she wanted to jump from the letter D, for some symbolic reason (i think that was her initial), but because she climbed from behind the letters, she f*cked it up and climbed H!!! RedDragonsBOOM
Well... That actually lead to a very interesting article. http://www.bandergrove.com/2008/02/hiking-...hollywood-sign/ Me and my friends a few years back went to go see Bassnectar in LA so we drove down there after I had personally spent the whole night with my other friends partying and having a fun night of debauchery and possible substances with Pokeball prints on them listening to house and dubstep. Even though I was hungover on the day of the Bassnectar concert and had no sleep we still managed to pop more candy and do pretty much this exact hike while smoking medical blunts. Damn awesome adventure. It is totally illegal though to walk around up there.
