People who didn't like the handling in IV were pathetic people who can't drive. More than half the fans were happy with the handling, it was very realistic apart from the flaws in the suspension and grip. It was a VERY positive change to the handling. And so what if there wasn't Chainsaws, Katana's, Miniguns, did that make the game less fun? Yes there were flaws, but it was their first HD GTA game on this gen, no blame can go to Rockstar at all. Reviews from different sites don't help people at all, unless you've seen gameplay video's yourself and basing things off words that sites make up from their own point of view is just stupid.

"...handling, it was very realistic apart from the flaws in the suspension and grip."

What?

That's just like saying, "His post was very good, except for flaws in the logic and relevance." What more to handling is there? The car handling in IV was an absolute scam. I felt like Christopher goddamned Columbus on the Mayflower when driving those cars. The braking ability was absolutely ridiculous as well. I'm an excellent driver in GTAIV; but I seriously felt for the people who don't play GTA 24/7 like most of this forum. It probably ruined half the experience for some of them.

Too many people on here buy into that "unforgiving physics" euphemism for sh*tty physics. But if it's another game, people call the driving sh*t. Blind fanboyism at its best. Hard =/= realistic. In fact, the mechanics of driving in real life were easier than in IV.

OT:

Given that I've seen enough and there hasn't been a GTA that wasn't worth it since...ever. So yes I will "blindly" buy GTAV much in the same way I would blindly buy a new strain of cannabis from a long-respected provider. GTA sells itself. Even the most disappointing GTAs such as IV and TBOGT were worth it.

I love this argument. It always seems to work when defending IV, but never when trying to defend any other open world game's driving.

Dude, there's a secret trick you have to do. I can't tell you because reasons, but just give me your credit card details along with your SSN and I'll send you GTAV by Sepember 17! icon14.gif

Like what? Saints row? Sleeping Dogs? Have you EVEN tried driving in those games?

BUT THE BENZ

Anyone NOT buying it blindly is many things, but one thing they're not: a gaming enthusiast. GTA's probably the most popular franchise known to mankind (for a good reason). People are confident in this product because of what history taught them and because of what they know about the game so far. They know R* created/built the future with their work. And they read all the news. So, how is buying V blindly "idiotic" or something? how could V ever be a disappointment? Like....HOW?

IV = epic

RDR = epic

MP3 = epic

IV+RDR+MP3 = V

V = epic³

There already basically have been reviews, all the big companies have seen the game and pretty much said it's great, that's all the convincing I need. But with the GTA Series reputation as a whole I think I and many other long time fans were prepared to buy it as soon as it got announced with only a logo.

I admit that I'm a GTA fanboy openly, I have zero reason to believe that the game will be anything less than amazing. I would not consider myself a "huge" gamer, more of a casual gamer i suppose. I have a very narrow genre of games I enjoy to play, I do not like games that set limits (you must follow a particular route, you must stick to the storyline, ect.) so for me the big attraction to the GTA franchise is the open world, sort of sandbox aspect of it. With that said, personally, even if the storyline was terrible, it would still be well worth the $60 for me to have a new world to explore. The only real dealbreaker for me would be if the game mechanics were terrible, but Rockstar has never let us down in that respect and I seriously doubt they will with V>

So RockStar....If you are listening....SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!! cool.gif

I'll buy it blindly. f*ck a review... I'll be the judge of the game. Anyone that waits for a review is foolish. I'd understand waiting for gameplay, but Rockstar doesn't show gameplay too early because they never fail to impress.

I'm buying it day one! Even if every single review told me that GTA V was a horrible game and every reputable site gave the game a horrible rating....I would still buy it and make my own judgments lol.

GTA has just been way too fun for me to let a few negative reviews keep me from buying the game. If I ever stop liking GTA, it will be because I bought the latest one and I didn't have fun (this will likely never happen biggrin.gif ).

I voted No because I wanna read what other people in this forum think of this game, because even if it's an opinion, some of it will be fact as well and I wanna know if the game lived up to its hype.

It's GTA.. Seriously, your only going to have to make yourself wait to buy a game you'll definitely buy. The game will surpass the hype, and live past your expectations and blow all our minds. Fact.

Look. I'm looking for what people are gonna say is still in this game, and what's not, and how smooth they think the controls and combat is, compared to GTA 4. That's fact, and I'm probably gonna have the same opinion as them about things like this even if some of this is opinion.

I'm not gonna buy it if everyone says it was awful, and that it didn't live up to it's hype, am I?

If I had no knowledge of V's existence up until it's release day, I would still buy it without hesitation. It's Grand Theft Auto for Christ sakes. I have never been disappointed by a GTA game and never will if R* stays true to their form.

Not really, because GTA is famous for offering a unique gaming experience and most numerical sequels change the meaning of open-world gameplay. III introduced 3D, IV introduced groundbreaking physics/graphics, while V is introducing 3 protags + unbeliebable map size + plethora of features that prove you can have fun with realism. This history, along with what we know of V, are what will make it successful.

CoD is part of a saturated genre, and each installment brings barely anything new to the table. The first few CoDs may have been somewhat close to groundbreaking, but after MW1 CoD cannot be compared to GTA in any way other than sales.

The problem is you just said a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with what I was quoting. I basically agree with you, but it doesn't apply to the point I was making. It was just a joke that played on Noclue_42's exact wording.

Noclue_42 talked about popularity and history. COD has a solid history when it comes to commercial and critical success. People hate on it, but as far as the industry is concerned, it's a ridiculously popular, quality AAA series.

Just coming up with the idea to compare or even replace GTA with COD is ridiculous. In my book actually going there equals going full retard. The only connection to be made here is that the people who think COD hasn't turned to sh*t since Modern Warfare and to this day is an acceptable franchise that deserves its popularity, are probably the same who wouldn't buy V blindly...so who cares what their opinion on gaming is.

Yep, like most, I'll be buying this game 'blind' - but to be fair, how blind are we really. Most of us have played and loved previous GTA's, I for one loved SA, IV and RDR. We all here, by the very fact we're here, are looking for as much info as we can get about the game before release, knowing full well what we do get will be for the most part, very limited.

I've booked the week off work to delve into this game, my wife will hate it, some friends and colleagues will mock, but I'm looking forward to this vacation more than the ones planned elsewhere. (note to R* - please don't move the date again!)

Yep, I'm buying this game blind, and I can't frigging wait!

There are very few 'sure things' in the gaming industry, but I'd say a full blown GTA sequel is the closest thing there is. I guess you could say the same about COD, but that's only because it doesn't take any risks with the formula. This GTA seems just as risky as IV & with so many new features, there is much more that can go wrong.

Aren't they the same type of gamers(blindly buying games)? If COD has really turned to sh*t, wouldn't blindly purchasing it based on previous games in the franchise be the reason?

That's the exact reason I don't blindly purchase anything. I don't play COD, so I will never talk sh*t about it and the large majority of people who do talk sh*t about it, don't play it so I never pay attention to their opinions. All I know is the COD series is hugely popular and gets great review scores. That aspect is very comparable to GTA's success(commercially & critically). Again, I'm not talking about gameplay or anything else that relates to what you do once the game is in your system, because I simply don't know enough about COD, since I don't play it.

Everyone should check reviews before buying Watch Dogs. I certainly will be. Nobody even knew about the game this time last year and now everyone is obsessed by and saying it ms better than GTA. It's the first game in a series (I'm assuming) so how do you know it's gonna be any good? Marketing is marketing...they are trying to make it look interesting. No way I'd give money for something that is potentially and most likely a load of sh*t.

I won't be reading reviews and plan on buying Watch Dogs for the PS3. I enjoy quite a lot of games from Ubisoft Assassins Creed been one of them so I'll take the plunge. If it sucks lesson learned. I mean I took a bet when Assassins Creed first came out and the first is my best in the series. From then I've bought every game that's been on consoles in the series and will buy Assassins Creed 4. The last of us is the first game in the series yet I've already paid for the game without reviews.

I don't jump on hype trains and make my own choices. How do you think successful series that are well established now happened? It wasn't based on reviews as very few read magazines but recommendations from people who took the plunge. I'm talking about games up unto the PS2/xbox era when the internet became more popular. Sonic, Mario, Metal Gear Solid the list goes on. Every game series has to start somewhere.

lel...well I can't really speak for anyone else but I'd buy any GTA blindly because a GTA (R*) title has never disappointed me. I've never been bored with it, always completed the storylines and spent a good amount of time going for the 100 % Great replay value any time. And with each installment it has delivered beyond expectations. I have played a few COD titles too. A linear war-simulating ego-shooter can't surprise you over and over again though. That "duck, shoot, cover, reload, throw a nade" bullsh*t got old fast lost its touch rather quick. The immersion was definitely there, it might still be, but to me the peak has been reached with COD 4, back in 2000 something. Ever since it's not been entertaining to me again.

It's a question of taste for sure. Some people just want the same old same old, they like it dumbed down and violent and authentic enough and that is good enough for them. Sad, but true. It's a discussion that could go on for hours...just allow me this metaphor and I'm done here (godwin's law coincidence:

hitler was quite popular too, and got like great "reviews" by his "fans". It took like centuries for people to realize he was quite the opposite of good, and some do even to this day think that he was THE man. Just because a mass of dumbed down idiots buy a product doesn't make it good. Just because millions follow an idea doesn't justify the idea as valuable or good. or whatever. Commercial success means sh*t.

Review will give the game away = Fail number 1

Review will be the personal taste of the people reviewing it and they can spin stuff any way they like = Fail number 2.

The game isnt expensive.. I wont die if I spend 50£ and the game isnt great...

So I will buy straight away and enjoy.. icon14.gif

You can't "blindly" buy a product like GTA. Even if you know nothing about videogames most people usually have heard of Grand Theft Auto. From hardcore to casual fans people know the brand. Many have already stated this but the rep that comes with the name can not be ignored. So technically no one will be buying it "blindly".
