So I was reading the Getting GTAV Early thread, and the user Chronostinger thinks that anyone who'll blindly buy GTAV is "foolish and fanboy-ish". So I made this poll to see how many 'Chronostingers' we have among the GTAF community, and how many hardcore fans we have that already know they will love GTAV.

Vote away! smile.gif And feel free to comment, too. Do you think buying GTAV without reading reviews/leaked gameplay/etc makes you a foolish fanboy?

I rarely watch reviews to buy games, especially a Rockstar game

Most games I bought this year have been day 1 without the help of reviews, will do the same with V

Agreed. I only read/watch reviews when its a new IP that I'm unfamiliar with, and doesn't look too great. But if its a game in an established franchise (that I enjoy[such as GTAV]), or an IP that looks great like TLoU, then I will buy it regardless.

I knew I would get GTA V before it was even announced.

I will buy it regardless, GTA is one game I can blindly buy.

Plus we know quite a bit about the game by now, but even if there were no previews and info that would not have made any difference to me.

A review is just someones opinion of a game... why do people even watch reviews? i dont understand that

Lol who wants to guess chronostinger is the one person who voted no? I've never waited for reviews to buy GTA in the past and V looks like the best GTA yet!

Wow this poll just proves one thing to me! How guillable and foolish people are! No wonder why so many developers are milking their customers by ripping content off the game and selling it as an "extra" after release these days! ...Because you'll buy it "regardless" people!... such a tools!...R* will start this kind of practice on you if it'll continue this way! its inevitable! Mark my words! the day will come when you'll remember my words and say i was right, when all of you will whine and bi*tch how R* betrayed you and turned into another greedy corporation! IT WILL HAPPEN! Its inevitable if you'll continue that way!...Just wait and see if you don't believe me!...

True but R* is not one of them. Atleast not yet, the day they become one of those I will be careful with their games.

I will wait for the reviews.

Interesting. Can I ask you:

1. How did you like the games GTA SA and GTA IV? (seeing as V is essentially a mixture of both)

2. With all the information we have, lots of people seem to love the announced features like Scubadiving, animals, planes, huge map, stats, etc... Is there anything specific that you're waiting for to confirm your purchase, or are you this apprehensive with any game release?

I knew before the beginning of time I would pre order GTA V. Blind as a bat!

It's not about being a fanboi. It's about being able to trust the GTA brand. Rockstar have not produced a single bad GTA ... ever. Every single one has been a blockbuster.

Now maybe, one day, they will get complacent and produce a bad one. But it hasn't happened yet and, from the look of it, it isn't going to happen with V.

bowling...?

Blindly buying this even though we have had some information on it that already makes it seem amazing. I even dream about this game so there's no doubt in my mind telling me not to buy it.

I think It's safe to grab the game as long as it has "Grand Theft Auto" title on it. Also I think we might get early reviews before release date, so no worries, even if the game will suck (which is very unlikely) we know it first.

I decided to buy it before it was even announced. I preordered it as soon as it was listed on Amazon.

GTA is just one of those games that I will buy simply because of the name. I have never regretted purchasing a GTA game.

And you should let others have one as well, without referring to them as foolish fanboys.

Considering you liked SA but disliked IV, I don't understand why GTAV isn't already a guaranteed purchase for you. From the info we have so far, GTAV is basically the gameplay of SA with the realism of IV. So unless you dislike the realism such as physics & graphics, I see no reason why you're not sold on V.

I have no problem buying a GTA game day one. I have never personally been let down by a GTA game. They just keep getting better and better. It's not like they release them once a year, some major love goes into these games.

I never said "its not already guaranteed purchase for me" in fact if you were careful you'd notice i admitted quite opposite! I'm not talking about the case with GTAV, i'm talking about games in general just like i said in those topic!...

R* have earned my blind faith. Every R* game I have bought day one and enjoyed so until the day comes that I buy one of there games and it sucks(if it ever does) then I'll keep buying there games without question. I'll just watch the trailers like I've done with The Last of Us and decide. I've already made a pre order and paid for that game in full without seeing gameplay just because of the trailers and it's naughty dog. As for other games at times I watch gametrailers video reviews. Not because I care about what they are saying but because then I can see the game in action and make my own choice as to if I like what I see.

I will buy it the day it comes out. I love GTA and so far they have not dissapointed me. Every GTA I played was amazing and with all the things they add in this one, it will be a blast. So yes, I will blindly buy it.

It's not a problem to have your own opinion. Some people felt let down by GTA:IV. I thought it was a tour-de-force. Rockstar had attempted to overhaul and freshen up the franchise. They tightened up many areas, revolutionised others and perhaps misjudged dropping some elements. GTA:IV isn't without it's flaws, I grant you, but on balance it's a solid game. Personally I wouldn't regard it as bad by any means. I do think IV was brilliant and so was GTA:SA. It's just that IV's emphasis was different to that of GTA:SA's.

You and many others will have a different opinion to mine and that's fine. I can see where you're coming from and I can see why you want to exercise a little caution with your hard earned cash. I'm in a different place to you and feel that I can trust any GTA Rockstar produce.

We're different. That's it.

I would buy it regardless, but I'm going to wait for the PC version to be released. So that's why I don't think I will be buying GTA V blindly, unless it will be available as pre-order in Steam.

I'll be waiting for reviews.

I'm a PC gamer first, so I'll read reviews to get an idea how it runs on console... then I'll decide if I buy or wait.
