Happyness
watch dogs is basically AC with cars and hacking Dumbest statement ever. Nah. Truest statement ever. For Ubi haters and R* fanboys yep. DeafMetal
Pretty much. Its biggest competitor, Saints Row, has sold in total (the whole series) around half of what GTA IV ALONE sold. I'm putting my money on SR4 selling the same as SR3. Watch_Dogs looks pretty good, but it's not selling enough to even be a distraction, it's not an established IP yet. Triple Vacuum Seal
watch dogs is basically AC with cars and hacking Dumbest statement ever. Nah. Truest statement ever. For Ubi haters and R* fanboys yep. For most of people, nope. (Outside of this forum) Features-wise (from what's been revealed), his statement seems pretty true. Watch Dogs' expectations seem a bit too lofty. Watch Dogs seems to feed off of this new "hacktivism" craze in the media more so than anything. The game looks amazing; but in this industry, you really can't judge until you see how the game really plays out. With V, at least we know it can play exceptionally better than RDR worst case scenario given the amount of time the game has been in development since then. All biases aside, Ubisoft's experience with recreating modern cities for 3PS crime adventure games doesn't even touch that of R*'s. AC is all they really have to fall back on with this sort of experience. So Watch Dogs will no doubt mirror AC's overall UI. Realistically, no one within this genre of games can directly compete with GTAV for quality and sales this year. Emergency_Room
Here are the major titles due out between August and December other than GTA V August 20-Saints Row IV 27-Madden NFL 25 September 10-Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix October 25-Batman:Arkham Orgins 29-Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag November 5-Call of Duty Ghosts 19-Watch Dogs Unknown but expected to release sometime in the fall Gran Turismo 6 Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Also there will likely be some more after E3 not to mention next-gen launch titles. All the titles I listed will certainly sell pretty good but really the only one I see that will compete with GTA V in sells is Call of Duty. Whether you like it or not you have to admit that Call of Duty always brings in killer sells and honestly I do not see that changing anytime soon. losSantosGang
well i think not 1 game is competing againts Gta V, tough i will buy saints row IV to kill some time and i loved SR3 more than Gta 4, after playing GtaV for a long time i will get ps4/next xbox in novermber/december with AC black flag and Watch dogs but Gta V is the game of 2013 for me, and second is bioshock, ac blackflag
RedDragonsBOOM
Meh Watch Dogs looks like a pretty turd. Its all gimmick and when you get in and actually play it Im sure the gimmick will wear off quick very similar to how the first Assassins Creed was almost entirely reliant on its free running system to carry it as a game and got extremely repetitive also we havent seen a real clear description of any storyline in Watch Dogs so thats a worry right there. Is it just gonna be running around this virtual Chicago making minor morally gray choices and some just down right scummy ones? At this point in the demos it seems like they just dont have a game ready that is extremely engaging and driven. As for Saints Row, Im picking it up just because you can be the president of the USA and there are Matrix elements in the story. Also Dubstep gun and super powers. But its not a point of IF I can buy these titles its a matter of if I will . Its not because I have some economic hard decision between the three. Its just because Watch Dogs looks like sh*t to me. Master of San Andreas
NONE, No other game stands a single chance against GTA V, It's pretty damn obvious. Not a single hint of fanboyism in this post lads.....
Braindawg
GTA5 will sell 8-10 million First weekSaint Row 4 300,000-1.2 million First week Watch Dogs 2 million first week It isn't even a fair competition. GTA is GTA, and Rockstar are Rockstar. Watch Dogs and SR4 will be crushed by V's sales starting day one of it's release.
GR7
Watchdog definitely will come close to GTA 5, it's a great and innovative game(much like Last of Us). Number wise I don't think it'll sell as well as GTA if its a Next Gen exclusive. Even though I like the concept I think WD will suffer from Ubisoft curse of becoming repetitive after the first few hours of gameplay.
yonatan755
What the f*ck are you people talking about? SR4 looks fine, watch dogs looks good, but not like V is. I belive that if theres a game that may be really great, it is Batman arkham origins, but of course it wont beat V.

I love it when the person who made the topic starts off with such a strong introduction like this. A combination of information, industry knowledge and with some personal opinion thrown in. Really gets everyone raging to enter deep debate. And if you didn't see my post was 100% sarcastic, then you need to take a long walk off a short pier. ReconzVenture
I'm not a fanboy of R* and I'm not a fanboy of Ubisoft but I just don't see the interest in Watchdogs at all... It looks really dull and sh*tty to me, a lot of Ubisoft games are becoming very similar. The first thing I thought of instinctively was Assassins Creed, Modern Day Edition. Like I said I like Ubisoft and I loved far cry 3, but I must be the only person on the planet apparently that thinks watchdogs looks like a big pile of horse poopoo. Arkham origins isn't made by Rocksteady so that cast some doubt on whether it will be great. It would have been interesting to see GTAV and COD (at it's peak popularity) face off in terms of sales, but at this point I think GTAV will be top seller this year now that people are starting to realise the COD formula is getting stale. LittleBlueTroll
Agree with OP here. To even suggest there is slight competition is silly Its silly because there is nothing established in September to rival it. If the new Call Of Duty came out on the same date for example, then it would have some serious stiff competition. But there is no huge game to stand in its way until a couple of months after release. All I'm saying is of course GTA V would do crazy well regardless of competition, but it will do even better considering it has none for a while after release. Which is smart by Rockstar. Makes them more money.

Only an idiot would want his game to be released along with any GTA game. I don't agree with that. GTA has been away for a long time which has given games like COD a chance at rivaling GTA is sales. I don't really like COD but at it's peak popularity it honestly would have been hard for me or anyone that isn't a blinded fanboy to tell which game would sell more if they went face to face. ChronoStinger
Well i have to go all the "fanboy" routine myself and say that i agree with the opener, even though its not so surprising or original, given we're at the GTA forums kinda, but still my opinion is my opinion, so what can i do about it?...anyway "fanboy-ism" aside i think that Watch Dogs will be quite decent game on its own, but i doubt it'll be able to compete with GTA, like many of the forum members here think! Sure it seems like "GOTY" kind of game NOW, but believe me thats just the "hype" nothnig more! When the game is released it won't leave up to its expectations, not even slightest! So mark my words! It will sell a lot, because of the hacking innovation in an open world free roam environment, but thats just about it, it won't outsell GTAV, neither will it top it "quality-wise" and "content-wise"! As For Saints Row 4 - terrible, terrible game! I don't think i will even buy it on the first place, but even if i do, then it will be just to kill some time before GTAV releases month later! SR3 was already huge disaster to me (given how SR2 were great in comparison!...) and judging from SR4 info its even worse this time!
