Knocking over light poles

It would be really annoying to simulate a full stop every time you accidentally hit a lightpost and send yourself flying through the windshield only to have to take damage run back to your car and potentially repeat the same thing two blocks later.

Agreed. I like Lamp posts how they are in the other GTA games and hope V keeps it this way as I'm sure it will.

Sometimes fun has to overcome realism. Whilst it would be realistic it would be incredibly annoying for a light pole to stop and possibly wreck the car every time. Not to mention the police a.i would likely wreck their cars in seconds.

They could be made a touch more sturdy to split the difference. It's funny how light poles fall like cardboard, but thin trees are like a brick wall.

A bunch of double standard ppl in here. These are the same dudes in the fuel thread saying "you control car damage you dont control fuel consumption, if you dont want to damage your car then drive right". lol Well the same logic should apply to poles. You're in full control over wether you hit a pole or not so if you dont like hitting them then drive right. They need a harcore mode and baby mode. Baby mode would have no fuel, infinite ammo/health, no solid poles, auto aim, etc. That way the ppl who want a challenge arent denied it bcuz of the kids who want a clown game like SR.

Jesus ...I've been always saying they're too hard, almost completely stopping you, especially in chases... There was no way to recover.

Damage that they take is ridiculous. One time you hit it with full speed and it stops you like it's as solid as diamond and the when you barely touch it with the side of your cars it falls down. However the most annoying thing about poles was that in MP races they were everywhere and usually sent you flying off the track.

I just learned to avoid them. By the time I got to GTA4 I rarely hit any unless I was in a chase and was all over the road like horsesh*t. lol....

Op's got a point.

A light pole is easy to knock over whereas a tiny little sprout of a tree will stop you dead.

Things that break, break for a reason. The stuff I'm more concerned about is the stuff that should break, but doesn't. Small trees, sign posts, and bus stops etc.

Am I the only one who really found it annoying when you hit a lightpole with your car that the whole thing just felll down like it'S made of cardbox?

that your car didn't really crash, just got a light hit and kept on driving?

 

this became so much distracting, immersion-breaking and annoying to me, that i even tried to learn how to mod so i can change the lightpole to a solid, static object, which would really cause me to have a hard crash when hitting it.

 

 

especially the way how they rolled around when they fell to the floor, like they would wheigh only 0,1 kg....

 

 

anybody else? did u have similar stuff that annoyed you?

It really annoys me too! I think them being solid or realistic would be just as annoying though... i think there is a "better" middle ground though.

 

I also think things like Bus shelters should be the same... not solid or made out of cheap plastic.

Ok, some got a point.

 

It would really be the best if they made them halfway solid, so they don't fall if only pushed slightly, but come down when hit really hard.

Should depend on the vehicle. To an extent, it already does. A faggio shouldn't be able to touch them, but a truck shoudl eb able to drive through them like they aren't there.

I hope they make the rest of unbreakable objects breakable (trees - but with a strong car like vans, trucks, bus stops and others).

 

In IV it's great to ride around knocking stuff over, then you hit a buss stop and nothing happen, you just go to a full stop. That's annoying, knocking stuff over is not.

I liked how it was in GTA IV, nothing annoyed me more than driving around on the sidewalks and then suddenly hitting a solid object.

Those damn one way and stop signs....UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! angry.gif

Tell me if want completely frustrating when you were trying to get away from the cops OR beat a times mission and you'd get caught up on a light pole which was indestructible.

if you are talking about "How realistic the game is" it is soooo annoying!!! but think about it, there are many of them, for example, in a police chase you will hit a lot of them! A LOT! if they were solid, it would be more annoying!
