Is GTA V going to be as detailed as The Last Of Us

The last of us is a ps3 exclusive made by naughty dog - one of the few developers to have fully harnessed the power of the PS3's cell processor and graphics card.

GTA V is a multiplatform game(believe it or not, ps3 has better visuals. Compare anything made by naughty dog to anything on xbox and it's just out of it's league. Don't call me a fanboy, I use PC) made by rockstar who have not harnessed the power of PS3's cell processor and need to make it on par with xbox.

No, it will not be nearly as detailed. tounge2.gif

PS3 is not more powerful than 360. As a matter of a fact, Xbox 360 has a better GPU. The only thing PS3 has better is the CPU processor. And that's about it. Both technically the same. 360 developers just haven't found a way to harness all the power of the 360 just yet, give it time and I assure you it will happen.

Lol well the new xbox is coming soon so um ya lol wink.gif

How many years was it before Microsoft stopped making original Xbox games?

they pretty much stopped when the 360 came out.

Well, Xbox fans better buy all the Xbox games they want to play now before they discontinue them lol. Only a few days left...

Not saying they will stop making games for the xbox 360 ( They will, but not anytime soon.) but the xbox 360 won't be the main focus anymore. wink.gif

I doubt it, more detail is focused on Last Of Us because it's not really open world.. so it'll end up looking graphically better than V

Yes, it will be more detailed as it's not an open-world game.

You KNOW this is scripted to hell. Don't even try saying it isn't.

That's irrelevant.

How in the world is that irrelevant? You are comparing a 100% scripted game with V!

I think he meant in regards to how it's similar/dissimilar to Uncharted, not in how it's being compared to GTA V.

It's a bit off-topic, but I've seen two different gameplay videos of TLoU showing the same "level" playing out quite differently (obviously things like what the guys are saying to each other when you approach them is going to be the same, but the areas are open-ended enough that there appears to be many ways to do things). It's going to be a linear game, of course, but one of the selling points of the game is how dynamic and tactical the gameplay is supposed to be. Whether that's true or not of course remains to be seen, but at least there's evidence of that fact. Naughty Dog's a good developer, so I'm willing to give them some credit there, just as I'm willing to take R*'s word on how great GTA V is and that they'll deliver based on their reputation.

More on topic: Graphically? Probably not, I mean TLoU is really beautiful looking and I'd hardly bat an eye if someone told me it was a next-gen game, although the frame-rate kind of gives it away. But GTA V does come pretty close (and surpasses in various areas) in terms of overall graphical atmosphere, which is kind of R*'s specialty. And there's a lot of details within the gameplay that a game like TLoU simply can't have due to having a linear structure, things that create an entire world like in GTA.

I just fail to see how that would work for the devs. Making a scripted open world game would either make for endless possibilities or a few possibilities and a huge unused area. The first option being an impossibly huge amount of work, it has to be the second (correct me if I'm wrong). I can't see a healthy mix of scripting and open world games happening, you simply can't cover all the possibilities. Either way, a scripted game remains a scripted game. So now it's an open world version of Uncharted with a few more possibilities, it's still exactly like Uncharted, apart from the area. Graphics, gameplay, scripting, all the same with a little more walking space and maybe a decision or two to make.

It's not scripted!

There are two different demos with the same level!!

EDIT: Sorry, double post. sad.gif

Naughty Dog is great with Linear Games

Rockstar is great with Open World Games

360's biggest problem is it's disc storage size.

This comparing to other games is driving me crazy....

You actually think that Last of Us will be anything more than a retextured Uncharted? Retextured might be an overstatement but you get what I mean.

Being on a GTA forum doesn't mean you are obliged to hate on every other game. The Last of Us looks amazing and it would be pretty foolish to deny this. Last time I checked it was beating GTAV for pre-orders.

Well it would not be anywhere near GTA V's pre orders because

1. It's PS3 exclusive

2. The only game to rival GTA in sales is COD

Then again TLOU does look amazing and I hope it comes out on PS4.

Two totally different games. I will be buying both of them on release day.

GTA V will definitely NOT look as good as LoU because 1) LoU is a linear game and GTA is open world. Think of Max Payne 3, they could afford to put nicer graphics in. 2) LoU is a PS3 exclusive game and not multiplatform. Naughty Dog work closely with Sony to push the PS3 to the absolute max. They know all the tricks to make it look and run great. Easily the best looking game I've seen this generation. In fact it looks next gen.

The Last of Us is linear and much smaller than GTA V so it won't take much to make it detailed. GTA V will be very detailed for an open world game. Rockstar are great at making the games full of little things here and there. They aren't gonna pull a Just Cause 2 where they sacrifice detail for a useless huge map.

Both games will be great. They shouldn't really be compared. I have them both pre ordered and can't wait to play both.

If the TLOU has a long story, i might buy it... if not, then forget it cause i doubt it has multiplayer.

It's got Mutliplayer, but Naughty dog hasn't said anything about it, and it got a long story, about 16 hours is the length of the game

Thank god, most linear games are too short these days.

Nah, not a chance. TLOU is much shorter and a linear game so there is no comparison.

We might see the next GTA on next gen consoles that will have as much detail as TLOU or Uncharted games but I dont think with everything in V current gen consoles will be able to handle such graphics.

Maybe on PC it will look that good with mods and all.

People need to stop wanting every good game that comes out now to be on new systems. These good games that are coming out are the current gen consoles Swan Song. Sequels are for the next gen consoles.
