I just re-installed SA on my comp and playing through it again. One thing I've loved to do is go to the highways on the countryside and park on the middle of the road. The AI is hilariously terrible and CONSTANTLY smashes into my cars, and then everyone keeps ramming each other until something explodes. Seriously, the drivers literally do not hit the brakes AT ALL. They gun it all the way through.

 

I can't wait to do this in GTA V with the RAGE engine and improved physics. The pile-ups will be legendary. Anyone else want to do this?

They've fixed that pretty good in IV so don't expect to see that moronic AI in V either. I hated that, you couldn't slow down for a second to make a turn on the highway as someone would immediately smash in you from behind.. then another 20 cars right after that one.

Well not fixed completely, if you play it on PC and set the vehicle density to 80+ or so you'll see random explosions around highways.. it's pretty funny

The car pile-ups were the most random and funny things ever, I remember pedestrians walking out of their cars and shooting, hitting others with shovels and bats, cars exploding, money and weapon everywhere...I was kind of sad that you couldn't do this in IV.

I kinda hope this comes back to some extent yet at the same time no. I mean, causing a pile up in SA was pretty funny for a while since the cars would blow up and see all the funny comments, etc, and you could pick up their money.

 

However, at the same time, it was pretty god damn annoying. Driving on a highway in SA was pretty much dangerous, and some random driver could clip you off, and might destroy your car, hell they might kill you.

 

I don't want all the drivers to be drunk idiots, but it'd be nice if we saw that idiot driving at high speeds that randomly crashes into some other civilian, it might be funny.

This is still in iv in some places. Like that highway that leads to the airport, one time I stopped and before I could even get out of the car, ten cars already smashed into me and I got crushed in the wreck, I was lmao-ing

The highways on San Andreas were so hilariously broken, I can't believe they actually got through QA testing (although I'm glad they did).

 

The A.I. just wasn't smart enough to handle the high speeds that NPC cars were programmed to drive at on the highways and friggin' insane pile-ups would often occur even if the player hadn't directly caused them.

One time I was chased by the coppers in IV and I lost control and rolled my car on the freeway. My traffic density was set to 100 so there were loads of other cars. I got out and watched as the cops stumbled around, dodging oncoming cars that swerved and crashed into each other causing a massive pile up LOL!. And the pile up just got bigger and bigger. Then eventually there was a big crash way at the back causing one car to burst into flames. I just stood there and watched how cars exploded one by one, bodies flying everywhere!!! It was beautiful!!!!

 

I love it when stuff like this really happens by accident! Can't wait to do this in V ! ! !

I loved lining up cars by parking them end on end, in the middle of the street and then setting fire to the first car. It was priceless to see the dommino effect of one car after another bursting out in flames.

Sometimes they would happen even without the player's input. There would be that one car that was driving slowly, getting rear-ended by another, which led to an inevitable pile up.

 

I wonder if pedestrians will carry melee weapons in their vehicles in V as well.
