The system in RDR was great. Going back to the old way of having to scroll through everything else to get the weapon type you wanted now feels clunky.

The 7 people that pick the old system hasn't played RDR. If they have they would know that the old way is slow and out of date. RDR was fast and clean. For the Max Payne 3 one. Why would you want to limit yourself in how many weapons you carry?

Maybe they just have a different opinion to you.

I know it's a novel concept for some on here.

I understand that but can you please give me a reason why they should go back to the old and sloppy weapon switch then the new and modern Weapon Wheel. The weapon wheel is better in the old ways in almost every way.

I don't know why they would prefer the old way do I! I agree with you, the wheel is better. Assuming someone's never played RDR just because they chose something else is bizarre.

Ok maybe they like the old system because you can actually switch faster to the next, more powerful weapon in a more linear way.

Sorry I'm being a bit harsh, I just thought you were being a bit weird.

Are you saying that GTA IV system is faster then RDR system? That's not true. It takes time for you to pull out you weapon and pick the right one. About lets say 4-7 seconds if its a Assault rifle. Now if it was a weapon wheel its more like 3-5 seconds. The weapon wheel is faster and cleaner then the old system.

I agree! As I said, if you want to know their reasons, ask them. But then it seems to me that you won't accept anything else.

Well, actually if you held down LB (or maybe RB? I forgot which shoulder button) and then hit a direction on the D-Pad you'd go directly to a specific weapon.

I like the weapon wheel better too, mostly because you can see the weapon wheel and because you don't miss how to quick select because the box is up for only 10 seconds during the tutorial. I only found out quick select thanks to the forums. Before then, I didn't even know it existed, so I couldn't search for it because it never crossed my mind.

I want a good reason.

What I think is a dumb reason is:

- It's how it always been ( Change is sometimes good )

- Saying it's faster ( It's not )

I can't think of any other reasons. But like you I also want to see. If I can counter what they're saying and prove that they're wrong then I'll try.

How about because the weapon wheel takes a bit more effort during a gunfight. Surely you'll agree that waving the stick around whilst holding down a button requires a bit more dexterity and control than simply pressing the d-pad a couple of times?

Also the guy above is right. There is a faster way of doing weapon selection in IV. Although apparently it's something most people (including me) only found out about recently lol.

Ugghh what a f*cking annoying options you have. First of all how can we judge GTA V system since no one has really played it? GTA classic was good but improving is not a bad thing. Also Max Payne 3 system was amazing and I really liked it ,though that game was suppossed to be more realistic and we are talking about GTA here so I wouldn't really want running around with pistol in right and Shotgun in left hand. Also wheel selection is awesome,I really liked it in RDR. So I guess V's system but can't be too sure until I've played it.

I think this is one of the situations where we're allowed to say "if you don't like it, don't use it." And by this I mean- if you want to play with 2 handguns and one two-handed weapon then go for it, but GTA is a game about absolute freedom and creating chaos, and both those things wouldn't be as possible if we were restricted in our weapon choices.

You made this topic like you're not gonna play GTA if they don't follow the Max Payne 3 inventory

And when did I ever say that I wouldn't play GTA 5 if they didn't use the Max Payne 3 inventory? You're just putting words into my mouth, and that isn't cool. That isn't cool at all.

You should concider reading lessons. Never have I said you said something. It means exactly what it reads. I haven't used thw word "Said" it this sentance not once.

None of the above.  I think it should be like Manhunt, where all weapons are visible on the player.  Rockstar North made Manhunt.

I agree or something similar. I want to start off by saying that I've played all the gta's from the top down to the new rendition of liberty city in gta iv but I want to describe to you guys what I think would be awsome if and which R* is going for. I know everybodies going to say its gta we need all the weapons at our hands and everything else. But R* has said they're trying to turn gta into something more realistic and cinematic and a grounded story. So let me describe to you a scene with my own type of weapon system that would be in my miind worth it.

You wake up in your safehouse and open your weapon cache to an arsenal of weapons. You grab some small weapons, an uzi you stick in your pockets or holster. You grab a pistol and tuck it behind you in the back of your pants and shirt. Then you looking at the heavy weapons and you see a mini gun and grenades. You stick that inside a duffel bag and then walk out of your crib and go to the garage where your ride is. You pop the trunk open and stick the duffel bag with weapons in it and then hop in and ride off. You start looking for balla hoods and come across one. You park on the right side of the street and hop out. You spot a balla standing in front of a corner store. You walk slowly up to him and grab your pistol tucked from the back of your pants and scream "gsf for life" and start poppin caps into him. Then other ballas start coming so you quickly post up behind your car. You start blasting killing a few, using some clips you had in your pocket, but then your out of ammo. You toss that gun on the ground and grab your uzi from your pocket or holster and just start spraying it. You dump a few clips on them and relize your out of ammo so you quickly roll out of cover and run to that first dead balla and physically pick the gun up from his dead body and start blasting fools and now you've survived that wave of ballas in that hood but reinforcements are coming from a neighboring hood so you quickly run to your trunk and grab the duffel bag and open it up. You stuff your pockets full of grenades and grab the minigun just waiting for the reinforcements to show. They roll up and you just unload on them causing havoc with your minigun just mowing them down watching bodies fly and cars blow up in flames but you know that last wave of lieutenants of ballas are coming. Their last chance to prevent you from taking their hood so you stand there just waiting. They pull up and you pull the trigger off the grenades and start tossing them in there watching each balla scream as they die in a fiery explosion. One by one they all die from constant explosions. You calmly but slowly walk back to your ride and peel off to do your next scene of mayhem...

Now doesn't that sound more surreal, cinematic, and realistic than just hitting on the d pad and pulling weapons from your ass. While it is fun having every weapon vanisha and appear, it makes the games too easy once you had the good ones. I never died once I got to algonquin in gta iv and now with the health bar refilling half way constantly I think this realistic weapons system would provide a more challenging and adrediline filling excitement. Startegizing on which guns your going to put in your trunk and all the more making it more cinematic and realistic. It would provide your own movie making scenes and leave you in awe with all the physical tangibles of picking weapons from off the dead boodies or grabbing the pistol from tucked in your pants or popping a trunk open to grab your favroite baddie whichever yours may be. Rpg, sniper, mingun whatever. This is what I think would be perfect for the direction R* is taking gta now a days.

I can imagine we all know that, according to recent previews of GTA 5, we'll be able to have 12 weapon slots. Is it just me, or is anyone else bummed out about this? Max Payne 3 seemed to handle it's weapon system good, with the player being able to carry two handguns and one gun that takes two hands to use (shotguns, rifles, etc.) Personally, I think that GTA 5 should've went with Max Payne 3's weapon system, since it seems kinda silly for a guy to walk down the street with 12 different guns, plus ammo. Or maybe that's what makes GTA GTA. Who knows.

The new Weapon System will obviously be better, especially if its anything like RDR's weapon system

It should be like RDR. 8 weapon slots (R1 for grenade when on the weapon wheel.) and carry every weapon.

Also the inventory should return for stuff like binoculars, gas cans, health kits, etc.

If there was to be a different weapons system, I'd have preferred a system based on the weight and size of the weapon, so you would have a max limit, with smaller guns taking less space and bigger guns more and you could carry multiple weapons of the same type, this would just count weapons stored on your person though, you could still pickup anything from the ground if needed, but you would have to drop it if you didn't have enough space to store it (you would also be able to drop weapons at will if you needed to make space), and it would be possible to carry guns in the back of your car so they don't take up space on you.

You need to go play resident evil or fallout new vegas. This is GTA. if you're not a walking armory, then it's not GTA. It's Science.

Here's my two cents.

Max Payne was a liner game based on skill and strategy. It was a 3rd person FPS with levels designed with that in mind.

GTA is an open world game which allows diversity and freedom to a large degree. Being so restricted weapon wise on an open map could get tedious and most likely irritating for most of these forum goers.

To be honest, you can always pretend that you only have a few weapons and that you have to get two handed weapons from pick ups and car trunks. That is actually what I do sometimes on my GTA IV playthroughs but I wouldn't want to do that all the goddamn time though, only when I'm in the mood.

GTA fan from the United Kingdom

I personally preferred the classic GTA one.

I think they should have kept the classic GTA one, where you can only carry one type of gun, and then had a weapons cache at your safe house where you can store the guns you can't use.

This.

^Welcome to the gaming community, everyone nowadays just has to have their VIRTUAL VIDEO GAMES be ultra realistic. Stupid if you ask me as entertainment is meant to escape reality and break down the barriers of realism, not stay confined to them. Especially a game like GTA where the whole premise of being able to pull of huge heists and go on rampages without being recognized by the police the next day for doing all that isn't very realistic. It's supposed to be FOR FUN people, not be all serious.

1st a 3rd person shooter can't be a FPS (first person shooter) biggrin.gif

2nd I agree, that's why Max Payne 3 weapon system wouldn't work, I think it will be like the classic GTA system just with the wheel, that's great^^

I never scrolled for a certain weapon, only for parachute. PC users will know...

1 fist fighting

2 melee weapon

3 pistol

4 shotgun

5 smg

6 rifle

7 sniper

8 rpg/grenade launcher

9 throwable weapons

If its anything like red dead it will be awesome, it means we can carry more weapons. Also one guy from the russian preview said when switching with the weapon wheel, time slows down.
