Think about it. Why do you actually need 12 weapons? You're only gonna use 2 or 3 weapons after you find out that the others are just variations of the first three weapons, so why do you want so many weapons? After you get one pistol, shotgun and assault rifle/SMG, you don't need another one.

Cause it limits your freedom. If you open your mind up instead of being a closed minded fool you'll see why no one likes it.

But how is it possible for a person to carry 12 weapons, plus ammunition? I know Rockstar generally overlooks this for the rule of fun, but when you're looking into it, things just don't add up.

Yeah, you're right. When you think about it like that, it seems like GTA V is still a game and not real life!

It isn't realistic in carry 12 guns but remember GTA isn't a realistic game.

Of course GTA isn't a realistic game, but does it really make much sense in the fact that you can carry 12 firearms, plus ammunition? It's obviously impossible to do this in real life, which is why I brought up Rockstar using the "rule of fun" as a way to jump over that reason, but you have to remember that Michael, Franklin, and Trevor aren't superhumans. I can look over the fact that whenever you die, you respawn at a hospital, and whenever you get arrested for mass murders, you simply bail out, but there's something unsettling about the thought of someone being able to carry 12 weapons in his back pocket.

When you're looking into things you realize it's a f*cking game and it all adds up.

Didn't like the Max Payne 3 one. I hated been limited a lot in the weapons I carried. However it did work well in Max Payne 3 in GTA it wouldn't. 12 weapons sounds good and there might be sub weapon categorizes for example if I pick up two Sniper riffles.

And how come most people preferred MP3's weapon system, yet every single person commenting preferred 12 weapons?

Get the f*ck out.

You never used a shotgun AND an AK in a GTA game?

You never used a shotgun/AR AND a rocket launcher in a GTA game?

Also, the people that voted MP3's weapons system probably thought it meant the selection wheel, not the only-4-weapons thing.

Can you read? I said you're gonna use 2 or 3 weapons in the game. One is a shotgun, the other a pistol, and the next is an assault rifle/smg. I didn't say you're gonna use one weapon only you idiot.

Uuuuuum what?

In MP3 you can only carry one 'big weapon'

If you have a shotgun, you can't have a sniper or an AK.

Still, most GTA players use all the weapons all the time.

A GTA character must have a room rectum.

In all seriousness tho, why do people want everything in this game ruined just for the sake of realism?

Have to keep it with the classic one. Even though the Max Payne 3 one was kind of cool and had a more realistic edge to it, that's not what GTA is all about

GTA's about blending the realistic with the far out there. I mean just look at how that aura of craziness made San Andreas an instant classic that all of us will probably fondly remember into old age, and what made GTA IV a so-so successor.

Rockstar's smart to keep the crazy in balance with the realism.

That being said, what's more fun than an entire military grade arsenal in your back left pocket?

Not many people realise GTA is based in MOVIE realism.

In that you can carry all weapons and ammo.

You can take cover behind car doors.

You can jack any car in the city.

You have more strength and health than anyone else.

Etc.

Etc.

Once you understand this, you will find happiness.

If you want that system go play Max Payne 3! suicidal.gif I don't want to be limited in game, that emphases on creating havoc on the streets and give you complete freedom of choice of what you do!... bored.gif I'm not only "not bummed" about this, but i'm also GLAD they didn't cater to the fans like you, completely ruining GTAV for me! Because if they'd do this crap on me, i swear i wouldn't buy the game regardless of how much everything else would rock! Having wide weapon choices is very important to me!

So you wouldnt have bought the game if it had max payne weapons system...... wtf suicidal.gif

Paper Mario

I love it this way.

People are kinda being lazy to think about it because it may not be 12 weapons ya know? I heard other people saying it could be items you can use, or grenade slots. Like a gas can, binoculars and other random stuff.

I just wonder if it will be like RDR where when, say for example, you scroll over the pistol, you can hit left and right and another pistol will appear. I liked that in RDR a lot, and it seems they have taken a lot of inspiration from RDR with the wheel (we don't lose our gun when no bullets) Anyway, on topic, I would hate a system like Max Payne 3. It was good in MP3, but in GTA, it would just be tedious. I like to go on shootouts in the city with all types of weapons, not just 1 or 2. I don't like the feeling of being limited THAT much on how many weapons we hold.

No, I'm glad. I would have HATED the use of the Max Payne 3 weapon system in GTA V. Not saying it wasn't bad, but I want to be armed with weapons like crazy, regardless of how unrealistic it is. If they want to make it more realistic, maybe they should have several places on your character to store weapons like in Red Dead Redemption. Pistols and uzis can have holsters, grenades and molotovs can have pockets, shotguns and rifles can have straps (like in Manhunt), and heavy weapons like miniguns and rocket launchers can be large bags around your shoulder. Sound good, no?

As much as I did like MP3's weapon system, it was appropriate because it's a linear game. With GTA V, you don't know what could happen and what weapons you will need.

Totally agree with you on the weapons system. I loved how Max Payne did it.

When I play IV on the PC, I always use the weapon weight mod. It doesn't really do anything about the amount of weapons you can have, but I love the idea of carrying the larger weapons in a duffel bag, or on your back if you could. I doubt they'll do the back thing, out of mission at least, but it'd be really cool if they put a duffel bag into the game.

Not sure why people are assuming it'll be "limited" to 12 weapons just because there are 12 slots. As previously mentioned, you could scroll over each slot to get different weapons of the same type in Red Dead Redemption.

The weapon wheel is a huge improvement over the old GTA system. Love that it's in.

Maybe you are just frightened of change. This is a far more efficient way of carrying and equipping weapons.

yeah it is as you (and even R* somewhere in other words) said "movie realism"

and in what kind of good movie a protag could enter for example a bank, blending in as a normal customer until he draws an assault rifle out of his jacket?

with a handgun this would work but not with a rpg u get what i mean?

imo V should have a MP3 like weapon system playing out like this:

u could carry and *hide* two one hand weapons like pistols uzis sawed offs etc in holsters

(no need for actual holsters there of course. u could still pull em out out of nowhere with trevor wearing a wife beater but this would add to realism anyway then cuz he could have put a gun in his pants covering it with his shirt)

and u could carry a rifle, a shotgun or a sniper etc in ur hand.

but when u run arround wielding a shotgun in the middle of the city peds react to this with dialogue or running away or maybe in gang turf or out in redneck territory even pull a gun at you! they could also call the cops but not like u get a 1 star right away maybe they just send someone to show presence so in case u start trouble they are allready there to intervene...

this would add a lot to immersion and the feeling of a hollywood like heist movie imo... cool.gif

Wow, I am really surprised by the huge amount of the votes for the MP3 weapon system.

If they are going that very realistic way it would ruin a lot for a typical GTA game. Sure, I like realism but it shouldn't be that realistic either.

By all means I would be fine if we can't carry the heavy weapons such the minigun, rocket launcher or the sniper rifle in our pockets but instead in a bag.

But only carrying three, four weapons at once? Hell, no.

The current weapon system is one of the trademarks of a GTA game. It never should change (drastically). So I obviously voted for the current GTA weapon system with the wheel from RDR. Perfect combination.

I think people who want the "classic GTA" one never played max Payne 3, it's not a huge difference, it's just more accurate and smoother.

If that's not the case I don't care, don't spend time to write me a PM with swearing^^ (like many people do it seems..)

There's still a chance that R* could change it back to the original Scrolling way, same with the map being a circle or square, they can change those things before the summer...

I even edited Weapons.dat file myself on my PC and changed weapons slots for Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Heat Seeking Rocket Launcher and Flamethrower, so that they'd all go to different weapon categories for personal usage as it seemed not enough for me to just have ONE of those weapons with me! lol.gif

Then don't carry that many. The choice is yours. Why are you trying to limit the amount of fun this game will have. GTA isn't trying to be realistic but be fun. Look at all the things they're taking from other games. That's not realistic
