jamieleng
As we all know, being able to keep your balance on top of any moving vehicle in IV was impossible outside of missions. On the face of it, it doesn't seem like a useful feature, but consider the amount of new vehicles & there are now some interesting possibilities. Now I don't want any stupid mini-game attached to this ability (like a certain game I won't mention again) & I also want it to be realistic. We see Trevor on top of a train, but this is almost certainly part of a mission, as is Trevor lying prone on the wing of a plane firing an AK. It should be easier to keep balance on top of a train, due to it never turning sharply. A car roof should be virtually impossible to stay on over 15-20mph & you would come off as soon as it makes a tight turn, but a flatbed truck would be easier. Crouching could improve your stability & lying prone (if it's in the game) even more so. If you are on top of a train & you see a bend in the track up ahead, stopping your movement will make your character steady himself. So is this a thing most people would've hoped Rockstar tried to implement? Niko prone on truck from 'Truck Hustle'. Luis on subway train from 'For the Man Who has Everything' John Marston on top of the train. Disclaimer: I know this subject is nothing new. Did a search but found nothing. Guest
It'd be nice to be able to say, hold on to the side of a large bus or truck, and jump from vehicle to vehicle. Standing on cars wouldn't be brilliant, though.
zuckmeslow
You can stand on trains in red dead redemption. It might be like that
tenpennyisplainevil
I remeber in SA I used to stand inside the back of a bobcat and then shoot to spook the driver, who would then race outta there with me in the back lol. And considering the ability to walk on trains in RDR, chances are we'll be seeing it again. In IV it just felt like Niko hit a brick wall if a car would exceed some limit, it felt real fake to me. jamieleng
You can stand on trains in red dead redemption. It might be like that Yes, in RDR it was implemented well & with the slower steam trains, it made sense that it was easy to stay on. Yeah, it was like the stumbling animation kicked in & the body goes limp. You could tell R* set out to have this as a feature in IV, but for whatever reason it wasn't. I just want to know what technical barriers are there to take features & abilities available in missions & implement them into freeroam gameplay. Durden
I was always somewhat disappointed that IV was like this. It would allow things such as: 1. Easy transportation when you want to avoid a wanted level 2. Provides a good getaway vehicle from police if you're on the top of somebody's car and they are panicking so they drive all crazy. They're the designated driver, so you can shoot at the police forces from the roof. 3. Easily follow NPCs to see if they do in fact live lives of their own. 4. In Multiplayer, you can transport more players at once if there's not enough room in a car. Also provides more firepower. I really hope that in V multiplayer, we can hang on to the plane's wing to stay on. There could maybe be an animation of the character grasping the wing for his life, which in turn only allows him to use 1-handed weapons akin to Uncharted. Just imagine the possibilities if we can ride planes without being inside them.
skillz7855
as long as you can hop in the back of a truck then I'm happy

As for why a player wouldn't just simply buckle in to a seat within the plane's interior, there could be a few reasons. 1. The plane could have insufficient room for the player 2. Maybe they want to be able to shoot. This could be useful when facing other air vehicles like helis & planes, and maybe you could even damage some grounded enemies if you're flying low to the ground. 3. Maybe the plane belongs to the bad guys, and you want to kill them. Hijacking might be too hard, so you jump onto their plane's wing. As they take off, you shoot them through the windows with your SMG, or maybe throw a grenade into the plane and jump off (better hope you're above water)

If we have anything that can hover it would be neat to have someone else flying the plane while we can use 2 handed weapons.

Unless you get a jet or whatnot, and jump onto an NPC driven airbus on the wing, but even then there is a higher chance of missing it and falling to your DEATH. jamieleng
4. In Multiplayer, you can transport more players at once if there's not enough room in a car. Also provides more firepower. I'm imagining a car so laden with people (like India's railways), that the chassis is scraping the floor & sparks flying. I've just remembered the screenshots of police (NOOSE?) holding onto the side of those SUV's. Maybe you will be able to do that in multiplayer. As for a seat on the wing of a plane. Erm, maybe wingwalking would be more likely. Oh & parachuting onto the 'Atomic' blimp. Edited May 18, 2013 by jamieleng

Imagine there was a heist mode for multiplayer
