Coming multiplayer reveal = "gameplay" !

I remember back when they started to roll out the multiplayer

previews of GTA IV( and later also the DLC expansions), all the

screen-shots that accompanied the previews, was not nearly

as stylized and neatly artistically orchestrated compared

to the ongoing barrage of singleplayer screen-shots.

This approach leads to giving the fans a more grounded "feel" of how the game actually looks while playing it.

 

Of course, all this depends on whether or not Rockstar decides to present the multiplayer portion of

the game in a similar way to when GTA IV was coming out.

I don't think we will see a multiplayer trailer unfortunately, only screen-shoots.

 

To my knowledge Rockstar did not release any multiplayer trailer for IV or the expansions.

 

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong ?

It could be like those MP trailers which introduced some of the modes.

With the way that Rockstar has been presenting its multiplayer in trailers since the marketing of almost every game post IV I think it might be plausible, however GTA is also the type of game that doesnt necessarily need a trailer in order for people to care about it more so my personal opinion on it is no trailer but definitely the same style of screen shots seeing as how they have already done that for GTA.

Very true, that is quite a bold statement. I think you are right in saying that

Rockstar needs to substantiate a claim like that with more than just arbitrary

screen-shots and PR speak.

 

I also hope that if they decide to release a trailer,

I dont't want it to be shot at distracting angles

and then edited in a style-over-substance way.

Ah yes, I forgot about that one.

 

I think we should focus on the the fact that Rockstar did not release any multiplayer trailer

for the main game, thereby succeeding in maintaining their strict "no real gameplay before release"

position going all the way back to III.

 

I don't think they will abandon that strategy this time either.

I understand you guys optimism but since they said news on MP soon and we didn't see any footage of singleplayer gameplay it will probably be screenshots hoping that i'm wrong tho but it makes more sense

Exactly those kinds of jpg's would hype me up enough to wait for a complete trailer describing multiplayer a la Max Payne 3

Those pics are kind of misleading though. I mean stuff like that in BoGT never happens, R* just set that up to make MP look cooler than it really is. The Schafter never spawns either.

 

 

And that screen of someone parachuting onto a NOoSE tank gave the impression that you'd be able to land on it and hijack it, which you couldn't!

 

 

I'd rather they use actual gameplay to show off the MP, that way you can't cheap everything up as easily.

First off, There was never a MP trailer for any of the IV expansions. There was trailers for the expansions, and that's it.

 

Second, I don't believe for a second that we're getting a trailer for multi. We didn't get one with RDR, why would we get one with GTA?

 

And while I agree that the game probably won't look as good as it does in the screenshots, I don't really care. As I've said on all of these topics about graphics, Some of us are still playing SA, why would we care that it looks like a more polished version of IV?

This. Although I do think we will get a few screens also at least. Just remember the online will never look as good as the single player so don't base the games graphics on that. Although I buy GTA for the single player I am looking forward to knowing a bit about the multiplayer. Free roam been the main one as if it's anything like Red Dead Redemption then I'll play it quite a bit.

That's what I'm talking about. More of that but improved is what I hope free roam to be like in GTA V. Save for co-op modes it's the only mode I played in Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV.

Love that trailer. They didn't bullsh*t. Everything that was shown or explained was spot on. I hope we get a GTA V MP trailer like this, but with less gameplay as you said.

I don't think it has anything to do with GTA. It's just the new way they market their games and the way they show off new mechanics/features. If there's nothing new in GTA V, I would understand, but it will be a very different game and Dan also said this in the GI article...

No, people keep forgetting that GTA has always been kept under wraps. Why would they only let the gaming media get a glimpse under their own conditions if they were going to do a full series of gameplay videos?

I have my fingers crossed that Rockstar don't show any gameplay footage in any promotional footage, let alone screenshots (though the latter is very likely). When in-game shots were being released for Grand Theft Auto IV, I avoided them like the plague (as well as the one that was shown in Nuts(?) months prior to the release), as I'd much rather prefer to leave everything up to the imagination until I play the game. I like the idea of discovering how the game looks from a players perspective for myself, with a series as monumental as this, seeing that for the first time (especially after 5+ years) is special (at least for me it is). I know it's very minor, but in a game that is all about the minor details, it's a very important aspect, being able to see the game for the very first time fresh. Something that I believe would just be as memorable as launching a *insert vehicle here* off *insert mountain peak here* because of the importance of the event (and it's a moment that can't be recreated again).

 

If Rockstar Games start showing gameplay footage in the same manner they have been doing with their latest titles, I will crawl into a cave of solitude, with nothing but: bottled water, bread, a pillow and a skin magazine, just ticking away the days until the game is released.
